I am an expatriate living and working in china and I have to tell you I never get sick of it. Western media propaganda of china is just ridiculous and I happen to say to anyone wanting to work or travel in china, as long as you abide by the rules, chinese people are some of nicest and friendliest and less racist people I have met ( trust me I have worked and lived in almost 20 countries) , some might offend you but because they are curious and friendly but never ever would hurt you, also I find china is probably one of the most safest countries I have ever been because every corner of China is installed with CCTV. hope you make your way to china someday and experience the beauty of this land and his people.

every ancient town in china unfortunately seems the same stuff and food , every ancient town have always some shops selling cheap tourist souvenirs all made from Yiwu wholesale centers or you shops after shops selling the same food, its so sad cause china have one of the most beautiful and ancient cultures with many amazing architectures dating back thousand of years. some of these am=ncient houses in Pingyao are so beautiful and destroyed by uncontrolled tourist shops that ruined the feel and looks of these ancient town.

Pingyao is a too touristic but if you are smart enougt there are plenty of less touristic spots in Shanxi and around Pingyao! I was in datong Shanxi to see the amazing and spectacular sun gang grottoes and the flying temple and then side track around Pingyao and than finally to wutai mountains , unforgettable trips.
What is that rail on the right side for at the beginning of the clip? It seems to narrow for an actual train to run through. So I suppose it's for something else?
It is very pretty, but it has the same vibe as Venice in Europe. It looks like one of those tourist playgrounds with little to no local people living there, having lots all of its organicness, basically an outdoors museum combined with lots of tourists traps.
The city is amazing, but a constant hour of endless streets with shops alongside feel a bit monotonous. It'd be better if you could just browse certain shops of your interest, for like a minute or 2, or take your time admiring cool things that happen along the way. It would feel more authentic and memorable.

I am so glad the people in the western countries like the United States and its allies Europe and british ex-colonies have been grommed to believing there is nothing interesting to see in China, a land with thousands of hidden gems such as this. This fact lets me, as a south american who has learned chinese, and others who have learned chinese, a proviledge to be able to travel and visit this vast arrays of towns and cities unlike anything anywhere in the world. Sure, the Japanese may have appropriated powdered green tea, now worldwide known as "matcha" the same way the British did with chinese black tea (bizarrely calling it Earl Grey or english breakfast?), dumplings (jiǎozi) in France are being called by their japanese name, gyoza. Most surpsiginly, a "made in china" product stops being "made in china" when the brand sticker displays an American or European brand. Similar to Europeans calling African and South Ameican cofee by italian names. These are some of many questions regarding China's perception in the west for the next decades.

管理的好，二十多年前就严管私家车进古城了，所以古城居民慢慢都搬到新城去了。现在古城内部基本都属于文旅部门统一规划的，当地住户已经不多了。

every ancient town in china unfortunately seems the same stuff and food , every ancient town have always some shops selling cheap tourist souvenirs all made from Yiwu wholesale centers or you shops after shops selling the same food, its so sad cause china have one of the most beautiful and ancient cultures with many amazing architectures dating back thousand of years. some of these am=ncient houses in Pingyao are so beautiful and destroyed by uncontrolled tourist shops that ruined the feel and looks of these ancient town.

Pingyao is a too touristic but if you are smart enougt there are plenty of less touristic spots in Shanxi and around Pingyao! I was in datong Shanxi to see the amazing and spectacular sun gang grottoes and the flying temple and then side track around Pingyao and than finally to wutai mountains , unforgettable trips.
ShanXi has lots of beautiful ancient buildings.

It is very pretty, but it has the same vibe as Venice in Europe. It looks like one of those tourist playgrounds with little to no local people living there, having lots all of its organicness, basically an outdoors museum combined with lots of tourists traps.

The city is amazing, but a constant hour of endless streets with shops alongside feel a bit monotonous. It'd be better if you could just browse certain shops of your interest, for like a minute or 2, or take your time admiring cool things that happen along the way. It would feel more authentic and memorable.

原来北方这么流行清服，跟我想象中古朴的古城有点不一样，感觉各方面建设跟南方相比还是有一点点差距，也许是山西那几天的天气不好，又或者是云南的天气总是太好，我觉得云南确实是古镇氛围的天花板了。
如果我去山西，我应该会去最北方的荒野，古长城的旁边，感受感受几千年来农耕和游牧之间的交融，再去看看几座唐辽金建筑，感受最纯正的古代建筑。
北方冬天霧霾還是比較嚴重些的，如果對訪古感興趣肯定還是要來山西的，只是景點較多且分散還是要多花點時間研究路線 🦆

不是流行清服，而是只能选清服。现在的景点，出来表演用的古装肯定要选择历史上当地穿的最好看的。
而黄河沿线和以北，除了北京西安洛阳开封等大城市有资格选唐宋明服侍外，小城市只能选清服。
因为对于北方而言，清朝算是这一千多年来最安稳的几百年了，小城市还算有点余钱，没被战争耗空，能穿得起像样一点的衣服。

I am so glad the people in the western countries like the United States and its allies Europe and british ex-colonies have been grommed to believing there is nothing interesting to see in China, a land with thousands of hidden gems such as this. This fact lets me, as a south american who has learned chinese, and others who have learned chinese, a proviledge to be able to travel and visit this vast arrays of towns and cities unlike anything anywhere in the world. Sure, the Japanese may have appropriated powdered green tea, now worldwide known as "matcha" the same way the British did with chinese black tea (bizarrely calling it Earl Grey or english breakfast?), dumplings (jiǎozi) in France are being called by their japanese name, gyoza. Most surpsiginly, a "made in china" product stops being "made in china" when the brand sticker displays an American or European brand. Similar to Europeans calling African and South Ameican cofee by italian names. These are some of many questions regarding China's perception in the west for the next decades.

@@galezero9635 甘肃旅游，就只有靠敦煌，勉强在撑，否则早就崩了，不过它现在也还是穷五省之一，好象还是全国最穷省。想发展起来，很难，因为旅游，它干不过边上的新疆，产业，资源丰富度不如边上的内蒙古，内蒙古有煤，油，旅游，棉花，躺着数钱，地形上又不如边上的宁夏，宁夏虽然小，小而精，经济不会太差，毕竟它有枸杞产业，又有国家大数据产业，还有相关的政策扶持，甘肃下的青海，虽然也不富，但至少它有盐的产业，好象也有天然气或是石油资源，地形也比甘肃好，西藏的旅游也不差，更有国家扶持，所以西北，地区，就只有甘肃和青海，条件实在太差，底子也差，太难发展。甘肃都还发生过下跪求水的奇葩新闻。西南地区，就是广西和云南条件太差，难发展。

2清末时晋商达到巅峰，连王公都要像晋商借钱。然而与此同时晋商却早已不住在山西，而是住在京城。
京四胡同就是最有名的晋商宅子聚集区。
山西，只是这些晋商的发源地而已，其发达之后，都去给北京上海做贡献去了，山西在清末离最繁荣起码差着直隶广东江苏浙江福建山东盛京（后来的奉天省）湖北，远称不上最繁荣。
看的出來人文素質低落，寸草不生。古蹟繁華也是過去的事，新的生氣一點也沒有。
