- A woman who was struck and killed by a suspect's vehicle during a botched robbery attempt at Newport Beach's Fashion Island has been identified as a 68-year-old tourist visiting from New Zealand. The names of three suspects in custody were also released Wednesday.

They grabbed her as a hostage when the husband didn’t give up his Rolex. They were trying to get her into their car but she fell onto the street. People tried to stop them and started coming towards the car, the driver then ran her over as he sped out of there as fast as possible. How they tried to take an old woman shows just how dangerous they are. Pretty sure they will face the death penalty as OC is very hard on crime unlike LA which has been very soft.

A New Zealander (Kiwi) here, been to USA many many times. Visited LA on 4 occasions, what I experienced was very nice Americans who treated me kindly and were genuinely interested in where I was from etc
Although I did stay away from the areas the locals told me to avoid etc. We did a bus tour and in downtown, a homeless man abused us at the red light and throw a water bottle at the bus. That was the only bad thing I experienced.
Police also very nice, helpful when I got lost one day.
