Discovered this phenomenal band on a rainy day in December, 2018. And with that my golden years of Metal started. Five ladies in elegant white dresses, heels and with a touch of make-up caused a sea change in my appreciation of my favorite genre. Lovebites embody excellence in every respect - brilliant songbook, great stage presence, unparalleled musicianship, strong and endearing personalties. They are a godsend for everyone who loves (metal) music.

There is no doubt that LOVEBITES is inspired by many of the legendary metal bands from the 80s and 90s. They freely admit that themselves. But they are better musicians, they generally write better songs and a hell of a lot better looking than any of those bands. If they were around playing this music in the late 1980s, they would have been as big as Metallica.
Of course, they 'admit' it! There is no shame in that whatsoever! In fact, it's shameful of those that do not give credit where credit is due. Are they 'better' musicians? No. They are equivalent! Now, their heroes are their peers. 30 years from now a new band come up who say that LOVEBITES are their inspiration and their fans say yes, but they are better than LOVEBITES. How would you feel about that? I say, they are right up there with the greats that came before them.
On a side note, Metallica wasn't big in the 80's. That happened in the 90's with their black album. Girl bands in the 80s, even if they were really good, were still considered a novelty. LOVEBITES would have been the best and most talented and would have been highly respected but I don't think they would have been 'big'. Sorry for the tangent, my friend! Thank you 🤘🐺🤘
@@BemusingBill Yeah, they are very good, but to say that they are better than any of the old bands that influenced them is a bit of a stretch, sure, they are probably better than some, but not all of them. I once watched a Lovebites reaction by two in-laws (can't remember the channel name), and it was kinda frustrating, because if I remember correctly, the sister in law insisted that Lovebites is a much better band than all the older male metal bands, simply because they are female. The brother in law seemed a bit uncomfortable, and said something along the lines of gender doesn't matter when it comes to how skillful you are at playing instruments, but it didn't seem like he got through to her. Obviously the ladies in Lovebites don't put themselves on a piedestal, since they are fans of said old male metal bands, and are influenced by them. Helloween is Haruna's favorite band, if I understand correctly. By the way, nope, there is no live version, or music video to their cover of Painkiller unfortunately, not to my knowledge anyway. But the audio version is badass enough.
@@Pascal-the-Rascal As usual when you have top notch artists they are better at "some things" than anyone else. The forte of Lovebites is precision. There are lots of shredders and there are some dual shredders, but I doubt there are more synchronized shredders than Miyako and Midori. And actually they are also in sync with Haruna. The bass is another beast, it is hard to hear the exact beats at that low notes. And singing is too slow to hear if it is totally in sync.
@@BemusingBill I've see Miyako and Midori doing things that I haven't seen from guitarists in these legendary bands. Harmonised sweep picking and harmonised pick tapping for example. But I'll limit my argument to their collective musicianship, rather than comparing individual musicians. This WAS Fami's live debut, the show opening song at their Knockin' At Heaven's gate 2023 concerts. It is an older song though, from their 1st album, Awakening From Abyss in 2017. Miho wrote this song, Mao co-wrote the music with her. The intro piece, Awakening, has been played as a lead in to this song in concerts past. 1st 2 tracks on the album. Love when they all lay out for a sec and let Fami 'introduce' herself. You have seen Miho , you saw her on Thunder Vengeance and Break the Wall.
Next for LOVEBITES, would suggest checking out Miyako's piano abilities , try "Swan Song" with Chopin intro, live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020.( Song was played at this 2023 concert, but posted video does NOT include the piano intro).

Awesome reaction! As a 68 yr old life long rock & roller I cannot believe my 3 favorite bands are LOVEBITES, BAND-MAID and THE WARNING. all girls, all from other countries. They have brought joy and excitement back to rock. Now the drown or burn question. I believe it is a biblical reference to The Flood (drown)in the times of Noah and The Fire (burn) that ends and refines the world in the last days.

Hello, greetings from a new subscriber, a veteran Spanish member of the wolf pack, absolutely in love with these ladies.
They are fantastic, very talented, and I cannot understand why they are not known outside of Asia. On the current European tour they are performing in incredibly small venues, it seems that very few people know about them.
I listen to many much more popular groups and, honestly, I see them as having less talent and less originality than these girls, who are a breath of fresh air for this aging world of heavy metal.

Gracias amigo! As an old school thrash metal guy, my bands were never on the radio, and they never got to the level of the glam metal bands, but it didn't matter. They have all out survived the rest and are still putting out albums and touring. This music will never make them 'big' but their talent and showmanship will give them a very large and loyal fan base. Personally, I don't want to see what might happen to them to become big. Word of mouth and playing festivals will grow their brand and they will be part of the top echelon of metal bands. Nothing cooler than that!🤘❤️🤘🐺🐺

Thank you for continuing the Lovebites journey. Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Another great band you should check out, if you haven’t already, is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. Their tiny bassist even growls at key moments.
They’re scheduled to release their new album “Born Again” on June 28, and it’s a banger. They have gone through some changes but have always kept their hard, heavy, technical sound. They just posted a video single from the album: “Still Burning” ruclips.net/video/v7UOTBAtJh0/видео.html

I'm a middle aged metalhead and I discovered these badass ladies through a random RUclips suggestion. I have literally not been this hyped for a band since, idk maybe 1998 when I listened to Children of Bodom for the first time. My metal journey began on thrash, the first song I learned on the guitar was Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss. Sadly, for me at least, the former greats kind of lost their edge over the years. I'm a big hard guy but when I heard these fucking badasses bring back the sound I had been missing so badly for so many years I fucking cried. They are the perfect storm. A blend of the big 4 combined with the greats of Power Metal? Fucking yes please.

Actually with all the subsets of heavy metal, this is Thrash Metal. There is no Lovebites cover of Painkiller live. @@BemusingBill Atlanta is an indoor 'festival' with 1,100 max seating, billed as their first USA appearance, a feature of that particular ProgPower Festival. Tickets went on sale end of Sept. 2023 and sold-out in less than 48 hours, nearly 1 YEAR before the gig date! They sold less than 1,000 tickets & held the rest for 'promotion'.
I am in Oregon, will be "VIP" in San Francisco, about 1,400 miles round-trip and absolutely WORTH IT!!
