The Swedish Royal Guard is the oldest military unit in the world. It is 500 years old. They celebrated 500 years when Sabaton made this song.

It's not, actually. The Pontifical Swiss Guard was established prior to 1400. Making it over 600 years old.

first of . the pontifical swiss guard does not have even 500 years of consecutive service. there were periods of them not existing. and second. it was founded in 1506.
1506-1527/1548-1798/1800-1809/1814-present (active times). and third. can you really call them a military unit if they only have 135 men that basically have just a cerimonial role nowadays?

1st) Great reaction! You should really also do the 2 sabaton history videos on the Royal Guard.
2)The battle in the first videoclip is based on an actual event were the royal guard hadto fight off ottoman troops as they tried to arrest King Charles XII of Sweden (long story short, he was forced to flee to the ottoman empire after his campaign against russia ended in defeat at Poltava, modern day Ukraine. Apparently he was a difficult guest from the Sultan's perspective).
Also fun fact: The famous swedish meatballs originate from a meatball recipe that Charles took from the ottomans when he returned to sweden

I'd suggest ruina imperii however I'd find one with English subs because it was only ever done in Swedish, this song was about the Swedish king hiding out in ottoman territory during the great northern war which would essentially end Swedish domination of the Baltic sea, karelia and Finland if I'm not mistaken

Ladies and gentlemen, I present this glorious cover for the Imperium's hearing pleasure. May you enjoy this as much as the original it is inspired from.
Thank you for reading this comment and may the illumination of the Golden Throne and the Astronomicon shine upon us all.
    -Sincerely,
An Average Servant of the Imperium
    From mankind's cradle, they came
    Fought for founding father's claim
It was then, their tale began
Traced their roots from thousands strong
By their Liege where they belong
    En tid, Av krig
    Wherever He goes
Near or far, they are close
For the God-Emperor, they laid down their lives
For the Golden Throne, they stand
By their Liege at His command
    Ten thousand years, for Imperium
    Striding across the void
    Crushing blow at Ullanor dealt
    Custodes, His Royal Guard
    Sworn protectors of the Throne
    Golden Truth set in stone
For their Liege, they shall give their lives
    By traditions from the past
    Golden Warriors stand steadfast
    I frid, och i strid
    And if one should fall
    Yet another heeds the call
For the God-Emperor, they laid down their lives.
For the Golden Throne, they stand
By their Liege at His command
    Ten thousand years, for Imperium
    Striding across the void
    Crushing blow at Ullanor dealt
    Custodes, His Royal Guard.
    För Sverige i tiden
    Dit konungen går
De gör vad some synes omöjligt
    Vad än framtiden spår
    Wherever He goes
Near or far, they are close
For the God-Emperor, they laid down their lives
Still for the Throne, they stand
By their Liege at His command
    Ten thousand years, for Imperium
    Striding across the void
    Crushing blow at Ullanor dealt
    Custodes, His Royal Guard.

I am going off of memory wrighting this down. If anything is incorrect, I hope that others can correct me in responses.
The first music video itself was related to the Scirmish at Bender, Moldova, at the time the Ottomon Empire.
Swedish king, Charles XII "Charolus Rex", fleed into self inposed exile in Ottomon lands after a crushing defeat by the Russian Empire at Poltava, modern day Ukraine.
After a while, having very settled in Bender, the Sultan was getting a bit annoyed with Charles refusing offers of protected escort back to Sweden.
In the end, Charles and a few Royal Guards were besiged, and held off quite a force of Ottomon troops. After finally being captured and brought back to the Sultan, bruiced and probably a little burnt (the besiged building had the roof set on fire), but very much alive.
The arangements to bring Charles and his guards back to Sweden with guaranteed safety was finally able to be made, and acted upon.
Sweden wasn't in a good state when Charles finally got back home, the Great Northern War had dragged on for about nineteen years at that point.

They mention Narva. "The Battle of Narva was a battle fought near the town of Narva in northeastern Estonia on 20 November 1700 (according to the Swedish style; 19 November according to the Julian calendar and 30 November according to the Gregorian calendar). It was one of the largest battles of the Great Nordic War between 1700 and 1721, and was between a Swedish army under the command of King Charles XII and a Russian army under the command of Field Marshal Charles Eugène de Croÿ." "För Sverige i tiden" is our kings motto. For Sweden in the time.

The video depicts "The Skirmish in Bender" when the Royal Guard had to fight Ottoman Jannisaries coming to evict Charles the XII from the Ottoman Empire. After the disastrous defeat at Poltava at the tail-end of the Great Northern War against the Russians and their allies and subsequent retreat, the Swedish Carolean army had lost a great number of its troops and cannon and they ended up seeking refuge in Bender with the blessing of the Ottoman sultan. Eventually, they had overstayed their welcome and the Ottomans ended up choosing to evict them by force and part of that is what the video shows.
An apocryphal story from this time is that the Swedish encampment came under attack while the Army chaplain was holding a church service in the presence of the king. Sounds of fighting began filtering in from outside and people started to become restless. Suddenly the sound of a cannonball flying past the roof of the pavilion in which the service was being held was heard and people started to become close to panic.
Meanwhile, the king just sat there, unmoved, told everyone to sit back down and gestured for the priest to finish the sermon ^^
I have no idea if anything of the sort actually happened, but considering the Taliban levels of religious fundamentalist protestant Christians we were (I'm Swedish) at this time in history I sure can't say that it didn't either.
Charles the XII was a great many things - an outstanding tactician, a great and beloved military leader, a reckless and offensively minded politician, and more than a bit hungry for war.
But damn if he wasn't a badass as well.

lol the confusion in your face is so fun, not being condesendant or some shit. The thing is u have 2 versions of this song, one version is a swedish version thats spanning thru their time, and the second is a specific time. During the war against russia in mid 1700, there was a big battle in a place called Poltava, where we lost terrible and the king and a couple of hundred soldiers and maybee 50 of the royal guard managed to get away. They ended up in a small town called Bender in Turkey, who was supose to be allies with us at the time, dont know if they ever helped but like they do today trying to get stuff made for them or else?. Anyway at this time the king and these 250 men was staying for several months in this small town, untill the Calif or whatever the leader in a city is called in turkey those days. He decided that it was time the swedes left and head home and they started to loot the houses the swedish soldiers and king was using so obv they fought back. After a long fight where hundreds of turks had been killed they decided to set the building on fire instead, forcing the reminders of the soldiers and the king to come out against maybee 5000 or more turks. But when the swedish soldiers came out the Calif ordered everyone to hold fire, letting the swedes to leave and go back to Sweden.
