100% sure that they fought amongst themselves over who would be Roos, and that they imitated gunshot noises with their mouths while filming the video!

Glad to see you reacting to more Sabaton.
Plus a little interesting fact about this song, it was actually commissioned by a group linked to the Swedish Life Guards to celebrate their 500th anniversary, but due to controversy.
As such, while the Royal Guards didn’t technically get to celebrate this song as part of its commission, it had been completed and finished… so instead of binning it Sabaton just released it anyway in honour of the Life Guards… cause it’s Sabaton, it’s history so it’s not like they can’t write songs about historical figures of units as they have done since their founding.

Yes, I've heard about this controversy, and I love the fact that Sabaton say F it, we're Sabaton, we talk about what we want and we go all the way, just like they did with Carolus Rex.

The Livgardet (Lifeguard) are the worlds oldest still active military regement founded January 14, 1521. In 1991 I did my military duty at Stockholm Royal Castle defending and guarding it.
A strange feeling knowing that I did something sooo many men had done before me for the past 500 years.

You are just perfecting these reviews more and more. Fantastic work 🙂
When/if you eventually get to the song "Long Live the King," we will delve into the King's death on campaign at the Siege of Fredriksten fortress (in Norway, which was, at the time, and had been since the creation of the Kalmar Union, in a personal union with Denmark and ruled by the Danish king). As you might know, there is a mystery surrounding how Karl died. He was shot while looking out over the edge of the trench he was in. There is a scientific debate about whether it is likely that the bullet came from the fortress or not.
There has also been, basically since the evening the King died, rumors of an assassination. Circumstantial evidence for this can certainly be argued. But there is also a connection to France here. Karl's brother-in-law and the future king, Frederick, had a French aide-de-camp who was with the King the night he was shot. Speculation is that the French guy (named André Sicre) was the one who shot Karl. One of many theories. But I thought you might like that particular one.
Hopefully, we get to the song one day so we can delve into this more. It is a fascinating debate with lots of scientific literature written about it. And the song is really great, in my opinion.

Thank you for your reaction. As a swede I and many others appriciate how others learn about our history and more about our country. But I would like to add a little thing to the story and it's actually really relevant even today and yet amazing.
After the defeat in Poltava Karl XII fled as you mentioned down south west towards Bender. But he did this together with a guy named Pylyp Orlyk who he previously before the disaster in Poltava had an agreement with (another story for another time perhaps). Pylyp Orlyk is the man who wrote the original constitution of Ukraine. And in Bender Karl XII sent for a declaration to form a state where the Zaporozhian cossacks (lead/represented by Pylyp Orlyk at this time) would be free and able to live without russian oppression and more there after. Karl XII has also been named or called as "The original protector of Ukraine".
The 4th of July 2022 Magdalena Andersson (former PM of Sweden) visited Kyiv. This is also the very same day USA celebrates their indenpendence day but putin also declared Luhansk oblast russian. Andersson handed over a piece of this request of declaration Karl XII wrote 300'ish year earlier. If this is'nt a sort of statement. I don't know what is. Anyway.. This was explained later on to be emotional for the Ukrainian representatives and staff members since this is what they're currently fighting for. Like a confirmation of some sort. However... approx. a month later. The original copy of the constitution that Pylyp Orlyk wrote was handed over back to Ukraine from Swedish safekeeping for hundrens of years.
Another thing to add is that there's a village or town in Khersonska Oblast (north of Crimea) called Старошведське (Staroshvedske, Oldswedishvillage, Gammalsvenskby) where actual descendants of swedes from that time lives. Some even still today speaks Swedish. But that's mostly the elders and the swedish is'nt really like the kind we speak here back home.
Ofcurse I can be wrong or missunderstood something. If someone has more details then I do please correct me by share your understanding of it. :)
...and yes. I did'nt spell putin with a capital P by purpose for a very good reason as most of you might understand.

Intriguing that you went with reviewing Livgardet and Royal guard specifically. Considering you're French, I would have assumed you would react to something more familiar.
If you'd like to anyway, "The First Soldier" is a more recent song of theirs telling about Albert Severin Roche in WW1.
