in the Warhammer+ animated series "Exodite" the Tau, (yes the Tau) are trying to find and escort an Eldari Exodite emissary admist an ongoing threeway between the Tau, Imperium, and the aforementioned Exodites on the planet, in hopes of negotiating a ceasefire to 2v1 the local Imperium forces into a stalemate or draw.
being known by lore to be one of the most passive or pacifist Eldar, one would think "they're here to help, we'll talk later after the planet's been saved"
but no, the Exodite antagonizes the Tau escort team, constantly ambushing them, leading them into ambushes. and then once face to face, has the gall to start preaching of the Tau being warmongering, destroying the planet, letting the Imperium invade, mourning unnecessary deaths as they desecrate the planet etc., with the final nail being the arrival of Craftworld Eldar titans as the Exodite opens a gate to Kommorah of all places.
if most modern writers failed at differentiating the factions, or how easily they flip between three very distinct incarnations, it's a problem goes far beyond them being "lore useless".

THANK YOU! Would it kill the writers at GW to make something that doesn't make the Xenos factions look dumb as boxes of rocks for once.

Honestly, the best Eldar I've seen written is Yrileth from the rogue trader game

An interesting way to write Eldar lore would be to showcase the emotional restraint that the craftworlders practice and their struggles with maintaining it. Having a story about a young Eldar in battle struggling to keep their emotions in check, or having issues with speaking with human allies and getting in trouble for coming across as arrogant and haughty. The story could focus on these things and bring a unique perspective onto why many Eldar come across as arrogant, they may not mean to be but it is what is interpreted as Eldar social cues are not easily observed by other races and still have them be "space elves".

In battle Craftworld Eldar either wear their own War Mask as Aspect warrior or have temporal War Mask casted by warlock. So, they do not bother with keeping emotions in check.

You can definitely play on this "Vulcan angle" (as in, the Star Trek Vulcans) with Craftworld Eldar, who have a hard time keeping their lower-c chaotic impulses in check and are standoffish around impulsive, dangerous xenos that aggravate that side of them. That said, what many stories miss is that on some level, it's only natural for Eldar who have been doing something for a hundred years to be galled at the idea that a human who's been doing it for five think they are better at it.

Timothy Zahn is a very good writer, because he was THE Reason people wrote novels and stuff again and bring the Star Wars Universe back to glory in the 90s, 00s and 10s, because he wrote the Thrawn Trilogie (which is now legends, but he also wrote a second one which is now canon), he is technically the reason why there is so much lore and it might also have been lead to George Lucas to make Episode 1...... if not him, idk who else would lift the Eldar to a Better Point of Existence in Warhammer 40k, Not like the Eldar are overpowered as frik, but like the way he wrote Thrawn and his species, the Chiss. A group of very smart people with a bit of "im important, peasant" and the most well know detectiv, Art Connisour and Master Architect of War, Grandadmiral Thrawn. Timothy Zahn is the one who knows how to write a species like the Eldar, minus the Pointy ear part.

Gav Thorpe shouldn’t have been given the Eldar books to write. He’s such a hit or miss author on his best days (see The Wolftime for a huge miss) but that series of books and his following Ynnari books did absolutely no favors for them. Maybe if someone like Guy Haley was given the reigns. An author who’s quite good at characterization, he could breath new life into these stagnating Aeldari characters. But considering he’s already got his hands full with Guilliman, Cawl, and the Blood Angels I can’t see him picking up another faction anytime soon.

I've always hated this 'ooohhhh too intricate for humans can comprehend' nonsense. No offense but humans aren't stupid. If we cannot take notice of something due to say biological limitations we'll invent something to compansate. If its just hard as hell we'll learn through sheer unadulturated determination and spite. 😂
Here is the thing; Eldar are 3D biological beings. They aren't something 'beyond our comprehension' almost anything can be comprehended by the right tools , time and experience
Perturabo IS a petulant manchild. But he should be ABSOLUTELY written as competent. And his friendship with Magnymagic. He brought the best in Bo 😊

"It would take a good author."
And that's the problem. Black Library doesn't have good authors. They range from decent to shit. Good aithors are usually making money on their universes, and have no reason to dip into a world so constraining as 40k. It is very difficult to write a lore accurate book when the lore is so massive, and when the BL editors aren't good enough to catch any lore mistakes.
Also, Abbadon's crucades being successful isn't actually a retcon. It is reintroduced obscure lore from twenty plus years ago.
Also, the Waaagh! Isn't magic. It doesn't conjure or materialize something that isn't there. Orks believing things into existence is fan fiction. It doesn't happen in lore.

Am I crazy for thinking that the Eldar should be written like the 20th Legion? It just seems like that multilayered tone would work so well.

I have to say from hearing the way they speak could it be that in a form of semi sign language or the minimum of conference the sign language and why I say this is because they speak slow but they also do facial with gestures at some points. When they're talking and in a way, I feel like I was hearing something similar to almost a wolf or highly complex wolf is that accurate?

This was generally inevitable. GW destroyed the Eldar lore (which it itself created lol), the faction began to lose popularity, sales fell. But instead of increasing sales by improving the Eldar lore, GW dealt another crushing blow to it. It seems like GW just hates them for some reason, because otherwise it is pure idiocy.

14:33 i think this is where we have to bring in AI. We need an alien mind to work out alien.
16:22 i think what needs to be done is a bard style writing. You need a human working with the Eldar observing them

disagree. maugan ra himself denying chaos gods their progress is something, illic nightspear being successful against the necrons (unless its anrakyr) is noteworthy, phoenix lord drastanta slaying greater demons even asurmen couldnt lay by himself. and then there is kheradruakh, mightiest of the mandrakes of commoragh, killing asdrubael vects favorite henchman valossian sythrac. HE CONSUMES DAEMONS. he himself stabilized the fabric of reality after a dysjunction in the webway dimension around the dark city
EDIT: forgot to mention harlequin kyganil who gave ephrael stern access to the black library. currently her boy toy? ephrael stern messed with ahriman at some point and has been promoted as some primarch tier influential being so who knows how this plays out
