    Bethenny's opinion was solely for the goal of being skinny. What Tracy was TRYING to say is that to be healthy mentally and have longevity, you have to work out. I work in the nursing field and see skinny geriatrics who are helpless and always in bed. And then there are fit geriatrics who maintained their muscle tone and are still working out!! Same age. Treat your body as if you're going to live a hundred years, not as if you're only living til summer's end.

      Bethenny missed the whole point. She just thought loosing weight was enough. One had to do certain amount of strenuous exercises every week. It didn't matter 2 hours every other day or 1 hour every day. It is part of every day life to be healthy, one doesn't have to enjoy it. Walking is not an exercise, people just wanted the easy way out. Diet is also extremely important.

      @@rampar77 I agree with you. Quite apart from the physical health benefits, I value the mental discipline and toughness you develop from pushing yourself through a workout that you may not feel like doing, or are finding tough.

      Completely disagree with Tracy. How can you do something 100 percent of the time and not be bothered by the spectrum of emotional swings? I work out four times a week, keep a healthy diet. I can definitely tell you that there are just times when I'm just not in the moo. Don't forget that people also have a plethora of other responsibilities.

    Yeah, no Bethenny. Tracy is completely right. You have to have a very good relationship with food, but you also HAVE to make exercising a part of your routine. You don't simply just try to eat better. You need to physically exercise as well. People are always looking for the quickest and easiest way to "get healthier".

    The trainer is absolutely correct. Food alone cannot optimize your health. You might be skinny with dieting but movement is what gives longevity. Being old and skinny is not the same as being old and having mobility and freedom from decrepitude that comes from moving in alignment. two separate things. No matter your genetics, everyone needs movement, but in terms of food, the needs vary considerably based on your genes. It doesn't mean being in the gym. It's not about the gym. It's about movement.

When i listened to this wonderful smart woman and got into routine 6 days a week, oh what a change!!! She is absolutely right and very very clever. Shes talking about BRAIN, ladies and gentlemen! Anyone who is familiar with chemistry and biology knows what im talking about.

    • @Dancediva240
      @Dancediva240 9 лет назад +9

      Nonna Dek The reason you saw a change with Tracy's methods is because of the 'pigeon-diet plan' she formulated. Your body was just taking in lesser food and you dropped the pounds in that manner, which means that you don't need to do her workout AND follow her diet plan, you just have to eat the way she says you should eat and anybody (even those who haven't even heard of this fraud) will lose weight.
      What kind of workouts are you doing that you haven't seen results yet? If you concentrate on weight training with progressive overload as the fundamental principle governing your fitness framework, then 3 days a week on non-consecutive days with a healthy eating plan ARE sufficient. Most misinformed exercisers (and this isn't their fault owing to the BS being advocated about fitness all round) do only steady state cardio and religiously document every morsel that goes into their mouth. There is no need to spend 12 hours a week exercising.
      This woman has absolutely no idea what she is saying and she doesn't understand the first thing about the workings of the human anatomy and how divorced from reality her BS plans are. Please start doing barbell squats, deadlifts, overhead presses and bench presses and steadily increase the weight as you get stronger. Do this 3 times a week while maintaining a generally healthy diet but not restricting yourself from having what you like. Only then will you realise that Tracy Anderson is a downright liar.

    • @nonnad9210

    • @Dancediva240
      @Dancediva240 9 лет назад +8

      Nonna D There are many things she has said not just in this video but in mainly all of her other workout vids and interviews.
      Lie number 1: She tells you that you have to workout ALL the time, almost daily.
      There is absolutely no need to do that because not only is that virtually impossible with all the other commitments people have, it is really unnecessary. If you do compound exercises 3 times a week and eat healthy, your body burns calories even while you're at rest, while you're watching TV, while you're playing with your baby, while you're in the shower, you name it. It's called EPOC, you can look it up.Only strength training can achieve this, NOT cardio.
      Lie number 2: She says people are cutting out entire food groups from their diets and she has a big problem with that.
      She's one to talk, really. Her 30-Day Method diet plan imposes a ban on starches in general. No bread, potatoes, pasta or rice. There are no fats, no dairy, no salt and no red meat. You will definitely look thinner after such a hefty embargo but will you feel great? Nah-uh. If you're subsisting on less than 1000 calories a day, you will be so starved you might end up taking a bite out of your own arm.
      Lies in her other nonsensical comments are countless but the one that had even those with absolutely no fitness or physiological expertise laughing is where she said no woman should lift more than 3 pounds, right before Gwyneth Paltrow says my one upper arm doesn't sag as much as the other because I carry my 30 pound son in it and to match the tonality of said arm to the other side, Tracy makes her twirl a 3 pound joke of a dumbbell over her head. Why doesn't she just tell Gwyneth to stop carrying her son since lifting him will make her bulk like Stallone? And GP being the idiot that she is famed to be, will most likely listen to that bullshit piece of advice TA is spouting too.

    • @nonnad9210
      @nonnad9210 9 лет назад +3

      ))) ok, i see. Definitely can agree with the first one! I havent seen her diet plan though...Well, thanks a lot! I actually do what you say now, i go to gym 3 times a week )) i stopped working out at home, because i lost my motivation.

      Telling people the truth, that exercising everyday is ideal for the human body is not harsh. It’s the truth. The fitness industry spreads so many lies. The truth isn’t always “easy” for people, but we should all at least know what to strive for. For me, even on days where I don’t do a full body resistance workout, I at LEAST spend an hour or more walking. You can space it out throughout the day. Invest in a rebounder so you can bounce at home. Wake up a few minutes early, go to sleep a few minutes later. In the bathroom do a few leg lifts, take two minutes in the morning to do a couple jumping jacks drop and do a minute plank here and there. We can ALL for activity into our lives and we MUST if we want to live happy and comfortable lives within our bodies. It is imperative.

I worked out 6 days a week and I was running up the stairs to class and not out of breath. I could run around a track 5 times without getting tired. Working out on a daily basis and getting used to it takes time but after a while you start to love it. It's like getting used to being away from your family when you go to college. It made me believe i HAD TO CHANGE my body type. It made me believe that only her exercises are the right ones as they are targeting the small muscle groups. It made be believe that if i missed a day i would never see results. It made me believe that lifting weight will make me look like the hulk. It made me believe i was a "skinny fat" person with fat stored in my deep tissues that could only be removed with Tracys method.

I workout 6 times a week and it's something that I HAVE to do, I can't live without it. For those who don't have the same perspective as Tracy, it's hard for them to keep up with a fitness regime like working out 6 days a week and stick to it because they are not use to it. You make a habit or a routine out of the things you do most often. If you work out 6 days a week, it will become a routine. And you'll find it will be easy to stay on track, even if you miss a workout here and there. Does that mean you have to go hard all 6 days? No. You can alternate between heavy and light days. Not to mention that fact that your body is designed to move. It's not meant to be sedentary. Also, not everything in life that is good for you is something that you will like or will make you happy. So I agree with Tracy. You should be working out every day or almost every day. she's a trained professional. I'll take her word over Bethenney's any day.

    Tracy FINALLY told Bethenny the truth...."You're genetically blessed". Being 35 lbs heavier than around 120 lbs. at 5'7" is NOT FAT!! It actually falls within the healthy weight range. Tracy is a PROFESSIONAL girl, you lost weight on your own, Tracy worked with a LOT of people, whether it's the skinny people, or curvier people like Kim Kardashian.

    Exercise is crucial to health, but what people aren't understanding is that exercise is chasing your children around the park, walking up and down the stairs doing the laundry, going on a hike with your dog. Being ACTIVE is crucial, working out in a gym for a set time every day is NOT. Period. The most physically fit people don't even step foot in a gym, I know, I live in California and have may friends who are surfers, rock-climbers and hikers. They never go in a gym and they never exercise like it's a chose, they're just physically active. Be physically active, don't sit around in front of the television eaten Bon Bons. So I disagree with the trainer here. I don't do any form of traditional exercise, i.e go to the gym and get on the treadmill like a robot or some shit. I go hiking, I go swimming, I just do fun things that are physical.

  • @crystallinehush21

    The reason why they are debating is because they have different goals. Your goal should determine your actions. If you want to exercise for weight management/loss, no you don't need to do it all the time, or at all (re: Bethenny). If your goal is to achieve your healthiest self, then you need to exercise often (re: Tracy). You can do it daily/almost daily, if you pick something you enjoy, and set realistic time limits. Everyone has different priorities, and so some people will give exercise more time than others; just depends on what you want.

  • @patty-cf7jj
    @patty-cf7jj 6 лет назад +2

    I seem to be the only one here who agrees with Bethenny. I know what she’s saying. If you set the bar that you need to work out hard every day, it can backfire. Many can’t live up to that and then give up completely. It’s better to work out a few days a week than not at all. The only way I became consistent and rarely miss a day is that whenever I didn’t feel like working out I would decide to just take a leisurely walk on my treadmill. But once I started I would feel more motivated and start increasing the intensity. But if I thought every morning in advance that I would have to knock myself out that day I would dread it and hate it and become miserable and probably skip it.

    Bethany walks a lot more than most. Living in NYC you get excersize daily by walking everywhere. Not a ton of over weight people in NYC. BF might not realize it, but she works out much more then she thinks. Not a bad thing at all. With her diet and a ton of walking no wonder she is so thin. Plus she has a tremendous amount of energy and works like crazy. She probably doesn't have time or patience to do a workout. Considering her fast paced life. They are both right. Just different POV and lifestyles.

    Just wait and see what they both look like at 80 and you’ll see who’s right. You need to exercise whether you’re skinny or not. Exercise is not all about losing weight, it’s also for building muscle, which is super important, ESPECIALLY for a skinny person. I used to think I didn’t have to exercise either, and didn’t have a good relationship with it too, but I’m glad I grew out of that ignorance.

    New respect for Tracy Anderson. She held her own with steamrolling BF, and is looking at exercise as a deep emotional and spiritual connection that maintains health. We as humans are programmed to move daily, to maintain cognitive ability, mobility, and health. BF has also said she “sleeps when she can” vs the philosophy of maintaining daily, healthy food habits.

    If you make a promise to yourself to get fit feel health then just do not break it . We all have a voice in our heads trying to stop us becoming our best selves. It is just a voice you do not have to listen to it. But the benefits from exercise you gain with consistency. Lots. Of research out there on that and also retraining effect how quickly the body goes back to a non functional active state. However people denied it to suit their narrative.

    Muscles atrophy as we age. Forget weight. Do you want to be able to move in old age? Then you need to move. This type is daily but slow, heavy lifting plus walking or swimming or sport is also good for muscle health, mobility, and bone density. Nutritionist here and I think diet has to be addressed. I don't care what we call it. What we put in our mouths day in day out shapes our health incredibly. Learning healthy meals you love is life changing!

    I heard Bethany say 'I this' and 'I that' so many times (Does she ever stop talking?) that by the end I didn't really care what she was saying. I found her attitude to be very negative and condescending. Aside from that, I don't think her argument holds much significance. I mean, nobody really WANTS to work out! People do it because it's good for them and makes them feel good don't they? I think Tracy seems genuine. She spoke in a focused and logical way and what she said made sense to me.

    tracy anderson has to say u need to work out everyday b/c she's built her business and life around fitness. in an ideal world, everyone should workout everyday. for the average too-busy american doing what u can and what fits in with ur lifestyle is better than nothing. so i think bethenny has a point. there is a point where u can stop altogether exercising when its becomes like a chore or feel run-down and u shouldnt get to that point.
