BRAVISSIMO GRANDE MAESTRO!!!!!!!

    Dark bass. Round tone. Just flowing out! Like warm port-wine.
    The tessitura of this aria accommodates low baritones, bass-baritones and basses. Just keep it soft. No thundering. No thinning. Leporello is usually a tone darker than the Don.

    This appears to be from late in Siepi's career but his voice is still in immaculate condition. In his prime, Siepi had a rich bassocantante of wide range and a charismatic stage presence for Don Giovanni, Figaro, and everything Verdi. I heard
    him many times at the Met and my favorite recordings are the ones he made of Tosti and Cole Porter.

    Fantastico, in perfetta tenuta vocale nonostante l'età... Classe, eleganza e stile da grandissimo artista oltre ad un timbro di vero basso, non quelli anfibi a cui ci hanno abituati oggi... Guardate come è l'emissione "avanti" di vecchia scuola, e la voce corre senza ingolarsi come accade oggi a molti...

      Cosa pensi di Samuel Ramey

    • @numetutelare
      @numetutelare Год назад

      @@OctavianGray mi scusi del ritardo... Ramey? Ottima scuola e tecnica. Basso baritonale con voce non grande ma ben emessa... certo non si tratta di Siepi... veda, se ascolto un Titta Ruffo e Ramey mi domando chi sia il basso. Comunque senza frivolezze, Ramey ha avuto una grande carriera rossiniana adatta alla sua voce, su Verdi ho riserve corpose perché serve un peso specifico vocale di altra tempra. Si è difeso egregiamdnte in Attila ma c' è di meglio. Ripeto ottima preparazione tecnica ma anche su Rossini se la immagina una comparazione fra Ramey e Giulio Neri nell' aria della Calunnia? Lui era il Basso sacrale e sacerdotale ma il buffo e il profondo rossiniano lo lascerei da parte. Questo è solo il mio giudizio personale che non pretendo sia condiviso, tuttavia è ciò che penso...

      Don Giovanni doesn't necessarily have to have a bigger voice, just a pleasant one. A pairing of Siepi on Leporello with Carlo Colombara as Don Giovanni would have worked.

    Per la vocalità "profonda", anche se da "basso cantabile", di Siepi, non deve essere facile spaziare in velocità come spesso richiede la partitura di Mozart (e anche Rossini). Siepi usa con successo la sua grande professionalità. Ma non risulta che abbia mai interpretato il personaggio di "Leporello", se non in concerti.

    My dear lady, this is the list
    Of the beauties my master has loved,
    A list which I have compiled.
    Observe, read along with me.
    In Italy, six hundred and forty;
    In Germany, two hundred and thirty-one;
    A hundred in France; in Turkey, ninety-one;
    But in Spain already one thousand and three.
    Among these are peasant girls,
    Maidservants, city girls,
    Countesses, baronesses,
    Marchionesses, princesses,
    Women of every rank,
    Every shape, every age.
    With blondes it is his habit
    To praise their kindness;
    In brunettes, their faithfulness;
    In the white-haired, their sweetness.
    In winter he likes fat ones.
    In summer he likes thin ones.
    He calls the tall ones majestic.
    The little ones are always charming.
    He seduces the old ones
    For the pleasure of adding to the list.
    His greatest favourite
    Is the young beginner.
    It doesn't matter if she's rich,
    Ugly or beautiful;
    If she wears a skirt,
    You know what he does.
