Jose L Piedra is my favorite cigar brend - Honestly only one that I really explore, smoked a ton of boxes great "Daily smoke" great price, grate value! I'm always saving hoyo's montecristo's and cohibas for special occasions, Piedra is like a best friend always there with you in good and bad.
At this ring gauge, 48, I would think its more long filler then short filler,, but either way I got these Petit Caballeros for about $3 a stick, so I cant complain about them at all, they taste decently enough. They are not machine made. They are handmade with shortfiller/mixed tobacco. Only those designated ICT Cigars are machine made, this includes Guantanamera, Clubs, Minis, Troya, ect..
Due to financial reasons, I had to find an affordable cigar that I would enjoy and wow, the jlp petit caballeros has proven to be excellent!! Fantastic flavor and great construction, also very good burn time approximately 1.5 hrs. Occasionally you get a badly constructed one, but hey the price makes up for it. Highly recommended.
I had to buy a lot of the Conservas to stock up because it seems there arn't any of those left anywhere. Not really digging the new yellow bands on Jose L. Piedra tho.
@micosan yes, there seems to be a shortage of them, unfortunately everybody seems to have the same opinion of them! I've only seen the yellow band in pictures, but I quite like the look of it, maybe it's not as nice in the flesh, will hopefully have a new batch soon.
@@richinjimie55 Well I bought a 12 pack of the petit cazadores last friday for next winter. and had to check the new bands again.. they are actually embossed which is quite cool.
Could never get to like them. I give them to friends who don't smoke cigars but want to try. I've learned my lesson when I've given them a good Cuban cigar and they only take two puffs and decide they don't like cigars. For inexpensive Cuban cigars, Quinteros aren't bad.
Well, if you remove all the labels, and take it at its face value, then they are roughly the same given you love a certain flavor and strength profile. The same with wine.
100% agree, once in a while I have a bit of a draw issue with this brand but really excellent quality for the money, my favourite for walking around the farm & looking over the cow's, also a good option to flavour & put to bed for a few weeks with a whisky or port for something a bit different

Love Jose Piedra they are what I cut my teeth on and are always in my rotation. Yea they are cheap and yea not the prettiest but they are a good solid smoke perfect as a yard cigar or if your just having a few beers and like you said want a smoke you dont have to concentrate on. The price is fantastic and true you may get the odd unsmokable but you will also get the odd one I'd put up against any £20 stick. They get a bad wrap mostly by those that dont smoke them because they are cheap or those insufferable cigar snobs. But for an everyday stick they are perfect
Just checked pricing online 15 box for U.S. $114.00...........Ouch...pricing on cubans have gone crazy! Most cubans have doubled or tripled and some are out right ridiculous. Any thoughts Dutch!
I am very interested to try this. No prejudice against hand made Jose Piedras. The machine made ones like the brevas and conservas really fall short for a long time cuban cigar smoker like me, but the recent petite cazas were good. I expect the petite cabas to be good too. This i will buy
I have had many of both, I choose the JLP petit caballeros over the Quintero favoritos. I find the flavor is richer and the feel of the smoke is denser compared with the Quintero, could be the difference in the remedios tabbaco.
Ignace
Jose Piedra are some of the worst cigars I've ever smoked. For me, once I have smoked a good HDM petite robusto or a Monte petite edmundo for instance, smoking a JLP is really unpleasant. They act as a good deterrent to cigar smoking. If we weren't so heavily taxed here in Canada, the good ones would be much more reasonably priced and we wouldn't have to ever consider JLP.
Nice video! What RH% and temp do you keep your Cubans at? I moved down to 62%RH @65F a few years ago and found the burn and flavour far better than 65/65. What are your thoughts?
Agreed. Even lower rh like 58-61. Burn issues are because of higher rh especially when u get to the middle. Humidimeter is the key to a great experience. It's in my go bag.
@@chasseausanglier3390the 70% is before modern humidity options. That's from a glycol mix they use to use. Anything above 65 is too much. That's why people dry box. Older, under humidified sticks need that quick dip in water to rehydrate but it needs to be wiped instantly. I bet once you try drying one to 62rh at room temp you'll never go back.
There are two types of cigar smokers: Those that smoke through the crack and those that don't. We call the first category crack smokers. Tell your friends. On a more serious note, JLP is considerably cheaper in Holland than in my country (Norway), much more so than other brands. Strange. For that price, I'd be willing to test JLP more than I have. That cigar here would probably be more like 10EUR (my vendor doesn't have them yet). I can get a favourite small premium cigar for that price, so they're obviously not worth it here.

I have tried this one today and I was happily surprised. Very decent quality and taste for the price. Also cheaper in Spain (2€) ;-D
They say (totalmente a mano) on the boxes (hand made) I've noticed that they are often very low in nicotine as well, other wise quite good.
Strange because the video said they’re machine made.

Well, I can't smoke $50eu cigars every day, so I have José L. Piedra and Guantanamera for these times. Still Cuban cigar anyway...
they are hecho a mano and not machine made
correct
Usually when it explodes its over humidified and moisture is expanding within. Thats probably why the flavors are muted. Im gonna get some now.
My favorite cigar
Bought 5 cazadores, only two had a normal draw and I think they taste like nothing. Sorry, not a fan
Quintero Favoritos when they are good, they are better than Partagas or Bolivar believe me, but also sometimes they are not so good cheers
My favourite cigars I go through 3 a day , miss the cremas but the cazadores is just fine .
Got some cream soda twang in mine at 57rh. Beautiful...
What does this company do with all their long filler??
