In this video, we explore a simple form of sculptural blacksmithing by forging an owl pendant. As the birds eye punch is the pivotal tool in this process....we also look at its construction. These skills will give the beginner smith a framework to develop more tools and techniques for endless applications of sculptural blacksmithing.

As a beginner, I can appreciate this project as a great way to make something simple and fun that isn't a hook or leaf. I also dig that there's a tool-making component to it as well. Thanks.

Thank you for this Thak! As a beginner this looks like a great idea to practice some basics and this is a much easier way to make the birds eye punch than I was planning! (round dremel bit)

Ive done a good bit of standard Ironwork, Im interested in starting more decorative artistic work and I stumbled upon your channel. Great stuff so far. Do you have a video on what chisels/punches are useful for artistic work?
