    Video suggestion:
Budget bow with premium accessories. (Rest, sight, stabilizers etc.) vs. Flagship bow with budget accessories.
Which one makes the biggest difference when it comes to performance? If a buyer wanted to save money, where could they cut corners and still get the most out of their setup?
Realistically, buying the bow and upgrading accessories later probably makes the most sense, but it would still be cool to see an actual test.

@@codysmith7456the nocam was still a flagship in it's day. Still a great option. Lots of bows that are 2-3 years old are in that price range used. Great way to go, accessories don't go bad unless you are super rough on your stuff.

@@waynehumphrey8910I agree, but at the same time, with the shot distances and difficulties he knew he would be taking at TAC, he might have not done the bow justice by not putting the best option he had on the bow at the time.

Hey Chris, just wanted to say huge thanks for this one!! I'm considered old (53) but have watched soooooo many folks dump way to much money on shooting equipment because of what they "heard". Folks, buy what you can afford and learn to use it as well as you can. A 300 dollar bow or gun will do the job if you do yours. PRACTICE!

This is a great ad for mission bows. Don't need a top of the line bow to shoot 100+ yds. What you do need is to be a pro shooter.

When I was 16 back in 2003 I went to my first competition indoor tournament which was actually a nationals tournament in Kansas City Missouri and out of 2500 people in my class I got 47th in the nation with an old, even at that time lol, pse Mach 6 hunting bow. You don’t NEED expensive gear. You do need fundamentals, practice, and a nerdy willingness to learn and tune your own equipment. Don’t shoot because you think it looks cool, shoot because you have an urge to be better then you were the day before with whatever you have. Upgrade when your skills outgrow your equipment.

I totally agree that you don't have to spend a large. Sum of money to enjoy archery.
Especially when it comes to trad bows which is all I shoot. There are budget bows you can get for under $150 that will shoot just as nice, comfortable, and accurate as a $600 + trad bow. Not that there is anything wrong with spending a lot of money on your gear, I just don't see the need when there are good looking & good shooting bows for decent prices.
Nice video, the important thing is that you have fun and enjoy your archery. And you seem to really enjoy it! God bless you and your family!

Yeah - choice of bow today, is much about personal preference and of course budget. But almost with any modern compound bow, you won't get it much wrong. Most bows will do great. Of course as Chris mentions, there are small technical differences between the bows. So you'd just choose what you like.

Even a pos will shoot accurately so long as everything's tuned and in the hands of someone who can use it. My first bow was an old solo cam with a biscuit. Draw length was 3 inches short and I shot that thing everyday for 2 years until I could pull off tight 60 yard groups. That being said, these days I have a v3x and the difference is out of this world. I still can shoot well with the old bow, but the new stuff is just beautiful by comparison. It's hard to imagine they'll get any better at this point.

The problem with most budget bows is poor quality of string and cables, they keep stretching forever so you can never have a constant set up, and even some mechanical components can have some play and give resulting in a permanently out of tune bow. But it can still work for hunting if you're shooting something within 15 yards from a blind or treestand.

I shot Seven Springs TAC with a bear single-cam bow (whitetail legend) and a fixed 5 pin sight that only went to 60 yards, no stabilizer and a QAD drop away rest. Only took 2 0s on 3 courses. I was able to hit all the 100+ yard shots on RMEF (missed an 80). I was hearing guys hit off of trees and rocks with equipment starting at the $1,500+ mark all day. It all comes down to knowing your equipment. I likely could have shot much better (especially past 60 yards) if I had an adjustable sight, but equipment is no substitute for reps!
I feel like if Chris was using this bow as his go-to, he could've gone with 0 misses. This video is a testament, you don't need fancy equipment. That doesn't mean I don't want it though, haha.

This is true, but false. I blew up a bow last weekend. I got it for my birthday on April 28th. My parents had overheard me saying I wanted to get into archery, so they went to the only place they knew they could get me a bow… Cabelas, and bought me the most expensive bow they could (Blackout Epic X2) because it’s what the archery tech suggested. Well, it blew up on me. I took it back and they gave me a new bow, I took 19 shots through it and the cam started bending. I took that bow back and they finally let me change to a Diamond Alter (should’ve picked it from the beginning but I had no idea they were doing that and it was a surprise) and they took the Blackouts OFF the shelf. Equipment DOES matter, but more meaningful is the tech. Never get a bow from a big box store, and if you do do NOT let them tune it! I still love my bow, but the equipment definitely matters.

    • @Mr_Mamba1
      @Mr_Mamba1 Год назад +1

My blackout is phenomenal. There will always be some bows that just wont be manufactured like the rest. The shop I go to dropped Diamond because they always had problems with them coming back for manufacture problems. With that being said as long as they took care of you and you get to enjoy archery without a bow blowing up on you, thats all that really matters.
