Maybe you took it as a punishment, I just laughed. His endeavors to sexually exploit his underage fanbase is really messed up, but the way he casually does it sends mixed signals. The way he casually tries to move past it makes me wonder what his mentality was behind the camera. And now, I wonder what prison is like for him. He's definitely getting raped. :/
But what's his mentality in there? Is he saying similar shit? "Hey guy, I think with time you'll realize I'm not that guy. It was a huge mistake, and I recognize what I did wrong. I am receiving therapy from Brody my cellmate; he's given me a lot to reflect on. And I think after applying some of those methods I'll have a better connection with my fellow prisoners, my new fans. I just hope you'll be able to hear my truth, and how I hope to move forward into a positive light from all of this darkness. Yes I am switching sides."
Just a messed-up joke at a pedophiles expense. I don't mean any disrespect to the victims. But I can't control what hurts other people. Only God can, so remember every painful moment was an act of God. Every moment of relief is God walking away with the

Growing up, I got exposed to some PSA type stuff about internet safety. One major lesson I remember was showing how people can get so much personal information from your Facebook account. Facebook is more for adults now, but back then kids would lie about their age to make an account, which was a thinly veiled lie since one look at said account would make it obvious that the owner is a kid. I also remember "ask your parents before going online" was a common line for any service where kids made accounts, and I'm not sure if its like that now with places like Roblox.

the stuff that happened with deefizzy was insane. I remember all this because it happened the one year i was to attend warped tour (2015) - they had a program for social media stars to be on the tour in addition to the bands and Austin was set to be one of the youtubers in the lineup. Then the accusations blew up and it was a joke how warped tour handled it. Deefizzy was calling out his behavior and calling for him to be dropped from the tour and the head organizers of the tour were dead set on keeping austin on with rhetoric like “you want to hurt this promising young man’s reputation,” “you can’t get far in this industry if you’re this difficult to work with” etc etc. it caused such a big uproar that they ended up deciding to cancel the entire influencer lineup in order to punish deefizzy for speaking out and avoid backlash for keeping austin on. they ended up keeping the program and austin thankfully didn’t attend. It’s just crazy to me how in an attempt to protect 1 measly little predator they wanted to ruin it for everyone…

I grew up with more trauma, hardships and abuse than most people on this planet and I have never once harmed anyone, used anyone, abused anyone, manipulate anyone or take advantage of anyone. I was first diagnosed with clinical depression at 8 years old. I absolutely hate when people try to excuse or justify bad behavior and horrible acts with the depression excuse. I had all the reasons in the World to hurt people who hurt me and I never did, never would. Depression doesn't make you into someone you're not, it just enhances the bad traits that were already there. It enhanced my anger, my sadness, my worthlessness but it didn't make me into a killer or a child abuser.

One thing to note is that Austin Jones seemed to love power tripping, and got off at having underaged girls do lewd acts for him. He isn't an emotional, obsessive, mentally unstable individual using his fans as a crutch for his mental health issues. He was cold and particular about how he spoke to his fans. To reference Coffeezilla, it's like an alcoholic breaking into your house, cracking open your safe, stealing your money, and blaming it an alcoholism. The bar didn't teach them these skills, nor did it force them to go about things this way. Jones doing this to adult fans would've still been terrible, but it would've been closer to the realm of legality if he truly wanted to mitigate harm, but he clearly didn't care.

I thought for the longest that even the title famous RUclipsr was a joke. Like the lowest tier of celebrity. I view it somewhat differently now but not completely. The algorithm has plucked some major idiots into fame and fortune.

This isn't me saying it's unfair. I'm glad he got the sentence. I just wish we'd be even more harsh on these types of offenders. 10 years for grooming and manipulating children isn't enough, but the fact many full on child grapists get less time is even more disturbing
