Thank you for making this video! I really needed it since me and my friend always fight over little things, I don't know who is wrong from us but I've started to question our friendship. This is kinda where i am, although not 100%. They have been reliable and supportive in a lot of ways...but they are very phoney and gossip and talk bad about their friends behind their back. They're very superficial and judgemental and I cant take it anymore

With this current Pandemic & shutdown situation. That literally forces you to sit it down. And analyze almost everything with special emphasis on yourself or strengths and weaknesses as well as improvement areas of growth. And the Ppl around you. So if I notice that you are a negative energy person or the bad energy outweighs the good energy within you & your actions. It's simply time to whip out the cut off scissors. After I point these things out to you. And you refuse to take heed to them. No time to be suffering or taking L's behind. Somebody else's bad energy or refusal to grow. I’m thinking of ending things with my best friend. The relationship is just draining. Not because they’re toxic or anything it’s just it’s hard to act like everything is the same when it’s clearly not. We’re definitely growing apart and are becoming different people. I still cared about them but I can’t be their best friend anymore. I want them in my life and but I just can’t be there for them as before. I really hope that everything turns out okay. I’m having trouble deciding when to tell them but I just can’t pretend we’re still close when we barely even talk to one another.
I think you should be honest with her/him and tell them how you feel, that's when you will understand if it's best to leave or to stay by the way she speaks to you.

My best friend of 12 years cut ties with me, all through text. No specifics and not willing to talk it out in person with me. I didn't see it coming at all and never did she ever bring it to my attention either. I think that's the most painful part, becoming so close to someone, knowing everything about each other's lives and always keeping each other in check... But then one day they just end it like that, as if you never mattered to them or that you never existed. Just pretty much, "We're not friends anymore. Have a nice life. Bye." Honestly one of the most painful things I've ever gone through. It still hurts, not knowing what went wrong. In hindsight I can see where I went wrong at times, but I can also see where she went wrong as well. I was in tears for days and it spiraled me into a deep depression. I'm in therapy now sorting out my emotions and its helping a bit, but it still hurts like hell. If you want to break up with someone, whether it be a best friend or a romantic partner, do it in person or at least over phone call... NEVER through text 😢
Yes, and if text is necessary, then at least provide closure. It is so utterly callous of a person to just suddenly end a long-term, deeply close relationship with NO explanation. Though I think that says a lot about how much they ever cared, and maybe it’s better they’re out of our lives and we’re no longer expending energy on them. :(
Listen, I have similar situation here. We were bff for 2 and a half years, I admit, It's not long but we hang out a lot. She was my closest friend and she knows me better than some people I know for my whole life. But yeah, she told me the SAME thing through text "I can't be friends with you anymore , have a nice life, bye". Her reason was the fact that we became toxic but I didn't want to accept it.. That happend a month ago and I'm still watching videos and reading things online about toxic relationships and I'm trying to find our situation in some text or video but I just can't.. Maybe I should just stop thinking about this person. We are not friends anymore and we don't have any contact but I still cry every night. How to stop thinking about her? She broke my heart. We had plans to go to study abroad together, to travel, to live together.. I just need to let go but don't know how. I also went to therapy a couple of times but I stopped because it didn't help me. We were just talking and nothing else. I want some practical method to stop thinking and just feel better, but how? And since you need this vaild reason to understand, you won't be able to let go. All I can say is that it's not worth thinking about someone that didn't even provide you with an explanation, reasons to why the relationship was toxic.... it is what it is. Its time for you to move on and just live your life for YOU. With you and only you.

Well... here's my story: - Became best friends really quickly. Even the teachers used to call our names together and gave us punishments together as if we were a team, yes we were. - Three years pass, and there is a Class Section reshuffling, we're still in the same class. - He made some new, but somewhat toxic friends(who used to bully me). - Next year, my own Class Section gets changed, and he finds a new best friend. - The next year, I regroup with him, but his best friend from the previous grade has got a different section. - Eventually starts hanging out with the old toxic friends more. - Pandemic year begins, and he stops calling all of a sudden in July-August due to personal problems. - I call him every day, many times, but no one answers, not even his parents. I send him texts daily, but he isn't even online. He no longer shows up during the classes. - He randomly calls me to say that everything's fine, and some other stuff. - Year almost comes to an end. We start changing. I become a bit serious, and more inclined to studies, but he has grown the opposite. - 2021 begins, and he has stopped calling me now. - I still try calling him on a regular basis as I did not want to give up on yet another best friend. - He tells me one day that we do not have much in common anymore. - Starts making up lies and excuses. - I call him almost every day only to be told rubbish by him. "Don't you have other friends(yes, I have always had a small but a good friend circle, but even it has almost come to an end)? I seriously have no interest in taking your phone calls anymore. It is hard to even make my mind to pick up your call. I mean, you don't even know what to speak about other than studies, and some other stuff." - I find a new friend from a distant city during our online classes. - I eventually stop contacting him and sending many messages on the Friends group as I used to. - One month passes by, I get no response. - One day he calls me thinking that I had called him. It was not a healthy call. - I convince everyone for a group video call after about 7 months since our last one. He joins, jokingly ignores, and insults me. He shares the link with his other friends(different from the toxic ones. I do not know them, to be honest), and starts talking with his other best friend(my friend, also in the video call). I turn off my video because I didn't know his other friends, and it doesn't bother him. I join with another device acting as if it is one of his friends, but my main device gets disconnected due to a network error. He notices it, and they end the call after a while. - I've stopped contacting him, and it's been about a month since our last call, which was a call, last initiated by me. - To this day, I cry myself to sleep every day wishing that I could go back in the past and fix any errors that I had made, and also... imagining myself with a new friend because now I have none. I just wish that I had a true best friend.
I’m sorry for what you went thru, I you have to let go and it’s tough, I’m facing the same dilemma with my friend, who straight up insulted me in front of my classmate who I don’t even know that well to appear cool and like minded like him, he didn’t like it I assume. And she called me up expecting no consequences for her actions. You have to let go of such people even if it hurts.

The story behind the separation is: when we were little a family friend was m🤬 me when my friend yelled out his name out loud to let me go and stop touching me. The effer didn't think my friend would understand what was going on since we were around 6ish...then he ran away😤 (we never mentioned this event to any adult) Now as an adult, (him living in Quebec, me in MA) my childhood friend would brought up the even nonchalantly, carelessly over the phone by starting "do you remember such and such and that day?" And as usual I would get triggered and go off talking, crying and tripping afterwards. After doing this so many times, I realized that he wasn't dealing with the memory his own way but he would purposely bring the event up to brush his ego and his hero complex as I would thank him for that day. So I had this "friend". She was a new student and came in 3rd grade. I was quite lonely a the time and well somehow she became my "friend". We had a lot in common and I really thought I found a true friend until 6t grade. That's where she became distant she didn't let me have an opinion and thought she was always right. She was really annoying and she also started running after some other girls that clearly didn't want her in their group. And now I'm in 7th grade she completely ignored and acts like nothing happened. I thought I would never find a friend if she left me but I was wrong I feel so much better without her. She's a really selfish and toxic and manipulative person and thinks having bipolar a'd thinks that having Mental disorder is qurky and cool. I do have a best friend which I know since we were just 1 year old. We did everything together. We live in the same street and sure have the possibility to see eachother. But we went to different middle schools and things changed a lot since then. We do speak sometimes and come to eachothers house, but having a conversation is becoming slightly more difficult. I dont think I should let this friendship go, because, we don't see eachother a lot because of school. But during holidays, we being back good old days and do things together again like we always did.

Maintaining a lost distance friendship is hard enough, especially when you and your friends live 1000 miles away from each other, but with some things that have been going on behind the scenes for the past year with him that I honestly rather not go public about, I feel like it is time for me to move on. My best friend and I have been friends for over 3 years, and now I feel like things are so different than it used to be since I'm in a relationship now. I care about both of them a lot, but it feels kinda weird now since they're both guys and are wary of each other. I'm worried I have to chose which person I want to keep in my life in the future. I know there’s a way to keep both of them in your life, and if both of them are nice enough I’m sure they’ll understand that you still wanna have both of them in your life. Making connections with others is one of life’s most precious things and so it’s always best to keep others around. I was going to tell her about it but I wanted to do it in person so that I can make sure everything comes out clear and isn’t taken the wrong way but quarantine kinda killed that chance. My best friend and I used to think of each other as soulmates because of the bond we had. We were always honest with each other, and helping building each other up. We had meaningful and insightful conversations about life. I always thought that she was one of the truest, most selfless people that I've met, and I still think so to this day. At some point, I felt her drifting off and everything she said or did upset me, because I was second guessing our friendship. I didn't understand her anymore. So I confronted her about it and told her how I felt. Her reply crushed me: "I don't know what to tell you". I asked her what we were and she said she didn't know anymore. That shattered me. That night a lost a friend, a sister, someone who I thought belonged in my life forever. I know it's not her fault she felt this way, she probably found a group of friends who she felt belonged to more. In the end, if she found people she felt more comfortable with, I am really happy she did, I just hope for me to make peace with it soon.
i've had the feeling our friendship wasn't meant to last almost from the beginning. at first I stayed because she convinced me I was the only thing keeping her alive, and after that I stayed because I didn't know how to leave. don't get me wrong, she's a great person, but we are clearly not meant for each other.

I had this friend growing up. His grandparents lived next door to me. We had been friends since the early 90's. After 2007, things started to change. Yeah sure they told me that they would come visit me. I was thinking that I would always be friends with this friend. But as I got older, I realize that he really didn't have a reason to come visit anymore. I am grateful for the childhood friendship that I once had. But as in the video we have to mover on. That to me was very hard at first. Then the years went by and then I said that friendship is over. He will always be in my memories and heart and thats what matters.

I used to be really good friends with this girl for years. Eventually I moved in with her to help her pay the rent as it was an abode that required 4 people (landlords rule) plus I was closer to work. I had a girlfriend at this time but during my time living there we had split up and I went through a rough patch. My friend helped me through it, made me a better man. My tenancy then expired after 3 years and I moved out to get my own place. We got closer in the months afterward and it dawned on me that I was starting to like her more than a friend. I told her, but she said she wasnt ready for any kind of romantic relations. Since then shes always been distant, I try talking to her now and again but I always get the feeling she just doesnt want to. What hurts the most is everything we've been through and all shes helped me with now seems like it was for nothing and me having romantic feelings for her was all it took for her to distance herself from me. It's hard walking away from her but I guess I need to look after myself first and just let her go

My bestfriend recently blocked me when I needed her the most due to my father passing away. It sucks because our friendship was so special and she brought out such a beautiful fun wild side to me that no one else ever could.

Literally before the virus, we were fine, texting, seeing each other at school, I was feeling great, but ever since corona happened everything changed. We became super distant and the last time she texted me was about 2-3 months ago, she hasn’t texted or called me to even check up on me. The thing that really hurts is that I see her on her socials with her other friend, and she never invites me 😔 I’ve never felt like this before, having extreme sadness. Now I have no friends and I’m lonely and now I think that I’m not worth anyone’s time, and I’m not cared for by anyone except for my family. I don’t know what to do
Even though this is almost a year old, this showed up in my recommend at the right time. I can heavily relate to some of these examples I actually permanently lost 2 of them and I'm going through the grieving stage as we speak, but I'm just trying to forget they even existed in my life.
My best friend dumped me. It’s been 3 years and I’m still grieving. It’s getting better over time but the pain is deep. I think it hurts more because of the way she did it. I'm 12 turning 13 and I just came out of an 8 year friendship (but by my choice because her twin sister who always hangs out with us isn't very nice to me and my friend chose her over me yet I did nothing wrong) but there sisters and I accepted that. I am terrible with social situations and kind of have social anxiety but if you tell someone you're close with they can support you. (A mistake I made with this though was going to someone who I didn't really know and was part of the reason on why I had a panic attack due to me being so nervous to talk to her.)

I’m thinking of ending things with my best friend. The relationship is just draining. Not because they’re toxic or anything it’s just it’s hard to act like everything is the same when it’s clearly not. We’re definitely growing apart and are becoming different people. I still cared about them but I can’t be their best friend anymore. I want them in my life and but I just can’t be there for them as before. I really hope that everything turns out okay. I’m having trouble deciding when to tell them but I just can’t pretend we’re still close when we barely even talk to one another.

My best friend of 12 years cut ties with me, all through text. No specifics and not willing to talk it out in person with me. I didn't see it coming at all and never did she ever bring it to my attention either. I think that's the most painful part, becoming so close to someone, knowing everything about each other's lives and always keeping each other in check... But then one day they just end it like that, as if you never mattered to them or that you never existed. Just pretty much, "We're not friends anymore. Have a nice life. Bye." Honestly one of the most painful things I've ever gone through. It still hurts, not knowing what went wrong. In hindsight I can see where I went wrong at times, but I can also see where she went wrong as well. I was in tears for days and it spiraled me into a deep depression. I'm in therapy now sorting out my emotions and its helping a bit, but it still hurts like hell. If you want to break up with someone, whether it be a best friend or a romantic partner, do it in person or at least over phone call... NEVER through text 😢
Yes, and if text is necessary, then at least provide closure. It is so utterly callous of a person to just suddenly end a long-term, deeply close relationship with NO explanation. Listen, I have similar situation here. We were bff for 2 and a half years, I admit, It's not long but we hang out a lot. She was my closest friend and she knows me better than some people I know for my whole life. We had plans to go to study abroad together, to travel, to live together.. I just need to let go but don't know how.

And since you need this vaild reason to understand, you won't be able to let go. Well... here's my story:
- Became best friends really quickly. Even the teachers used to call our names together and gave us punishments together as if we were a team, yes we were.
- Three years pass, and there is a Class Section reshuffling, we're still in the same class.
- He made some new, but somewhat toxic friends(who used to bully me).
- Next year, my own Class Section gets changed, and he finds a new best friend.
- The next year, I regroup with him, but his best friend from the previous grade has got a different section.
- Eventually starts hanging out with the old toxic friends more.
- Pandemic year begins, and he stops calling all of a sudden in July-August due to personal problems.
- I call him every day, many times, but no one answers, not even his parents. I send him texts daily, but he isn't even online. He no longer shows up during the classes.
- He randomly calls me to say that everything's fine, and some other stuff.
- Year almost comes to an end. We start changing. I become a bit serious, and more inclined to studies, but he has grown the opposite.
- 2021 begins, and he has stopped calling me now.
- I still try calling him on a regular basis as I did not want to give up on yet another best friend.
- He tells me one day that we do not have much in common anymore.
- Starts making up lies and excuses.
- I call him almost every day only to be told rubbish by him. "Don't you have other friends(yes, I have always had a small but a good friend circle, but even it has almost come to an end)? I seriously have no interest in taking your phone calls anymore. It is hard to even make my mind to pick up your call. I mean, you don't even know what to speak about other than studies, and some other stuff."
- I find a new friend from a distant city during our online classes.
- I eventually stop contacting him and sending many messages on the Friends group as I used to.
- One month passes by, I get no response.
- One day he calls me thinking that I had called him. It was not a healthy call.
- I convince everyone for a group video call after about 7 months since our last one. He joins, jokingly ignores, and insults me. He shares the link with his other friends(different from the toxic ones. I do not know them, to be honest), and starts talking with his other best friend(my friend, also in the video call). I turn off my video because I didn't know his other friends, and it doesn't bother him. I join with another device acting as if it is one of his friends, but my main device gets disconnected due to a network error. He notices it, and they end the call after a while.
- I've stopped contacting him, and it's been about a month since our last call, which was a call, last initiated by me.
- To this day, I cry myself to sleep every day wishing that I could go back in the past and fix any errors that I had made, and also... imagining myself with a new friend because now I have none.
I just wish that I had a true best friend.

I’m sorry for what you went thru, I you have to let go and it’s tough, I’m facing the same dilemma with my friend, who straight up insulted me in front of my classmate who I don’t even know that well to appear cool and like minded like him, he didn’t like it I assume. And she called me up expecting no consequences for her actions.
You have to let go of such people even if it hurts.

Is it normal that I am still resenting him and get angry in my head. The story behind the separation is: when we were little a family friend was m🤬 me when my friend yelled out his name out loud to let me go and stop touching me. The effer didn't think my friend would understand what was going on since we were around 6ish...then he ran away😤 (we never mentioned this event to any adult)
Now as an adult, (him living in Quebec, me in MA) my childhood friend would brought up the even nonchalantly, carelessly over the phone by starting "do you remember such and such and that day?" And as usual I would get triggered and go off talking, crying and tripping afterwards.
After doing this so many times, I realized that he wasn't dealing with the memory his own way but he would purposely bring the event up to brush his ego and his hero complex as I would thank him for that day.
After a while,I had to cut him off forever especially after getting married and didn't even bother to tell me 😔

I do have a best friend which I know since we were just 1 year old. We did everything together. We live in the same street and sure have the possibility to see eachother. But we went to different middle schools and things changed a lot since then. We do speak sometimes and come to eachothers house, but having a conversation is becoming slightly more difficult. I dont think I should let this friendship go, because, we don't see eachother a lot because of school. But during holidays, we being back good old days and do things together again like we always did.

Thank you so much for the advice, these videos are making my decision a lot easier. Things have not been going well with me and one of my friends of 5 years. Maintaining a lost distance friendship is hard enough, especially when you and your friends live 1000 miles away from each other, but with some things that have been going on behind the scenes for the past year with him that I honestly rather not go public about, I feel like it is time for me to move on. This friendship has been causing me extreme stress and I feel like things will never get better between us. This was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make in my life, and it does hurt me as much as it will hurt him. :(

My best friend and I have been friends for over 3 years, and now I feel like things are so different than it used to be since I'm in a relationship now. I care about both of them a lot, but it feels kinda weird now since they're both guys and are wary of each other. I'm worried I have to chose which person I want to keep in my life in the future. Your friend may feel a similar way, try talking her about how you feel.

I know there’s a way to keep both of them in your life, and if both of them are nice enough I’m sure they’ll understand that you still wanna have both of them in your life. Making connections with others is one of life’s most precious things and so it’s always best to keep others around.
I was going to tell her about it but I wanted to do it in person so that I can make sure everything comes out clear and isn’t taken the wrong way but quarantine kinda killed that chance. Still, I’m planning on doing it and hopefully things get better. And I really wish the best for you too. I know it’ll work out well.

The hardest heartache I’ve had in a long time
My best friend and I used to think of each other as soulmates because of the bond we had. We were always honest with each other, and helping building each other up. We had meaningful and insightful conversations about life. I always thought that she was one of the truest, most selfless people that I've met, and I still think so to this day. At some point, I felt her drifting off and everything she said or did upset me, because I was second guessing our friendship. I didn't understand her anymore. So I confronted her about it and told her how I felt. Her reply crushed me: "I don't know what to tell you". I asked her what we were and she said she didn't know anymore. That shattered me. That night a lost a friend, a sister, someone who I thought belonged in my life forever. I know it's not her fault she felt this way, she probably found a group of friends who she felt belonged to more. In the end, if she found people she felt more comfortable with, I am really happy she did, I just hope for me to make peace with it soon.

She broke everything we had in just seconds. She chose another girl over me so easily that it made me question whether we were really friends for those 2 years. I had this friend growing up. His grandparents lived next door to me. We had been friends since the early 90's. After 2007, things started to change. Yeah sure they told me that they would come visit me. I was thinking that I would always be friends with this friend. But as I got older, I realize that he really didn't have a reason to come visit anymore. I am grateful for the childhood friendship that I once had. But as in the video we have to mover on. That to me was very hard at first. Then the years went by and then I said that friendship is over. He will always be in my memories and heart and thats what matters.

I used to be really good friends with this girl for years. Eventually I moved in with her to help her pay the rent as it was an abode that required 4 people (landlords rule) plus I was closer to work. I had a girlfriend at this time but during my time living there we had split up and I went through a rough patch. My friend helped me through it, made me a better man. My tenancy then expired after 3 years and I moved out to get my own place. We got closer in the months afterward and it dawned on me that I was starting to like her more than a friend. I told her, but she said she wasnt ready for any kind of romantic relations. Since then shes always been distant, I try talking to her now and again but I always get the feeling she just doesnt want to. What hurts the most is everything we've been through and all shes helped me with now seems like it was for nothing and me having romantic feelings for her was all it took for her to distance herself from me. It's hard walking away from her but I guess I need to look after myself first and just let her go
That's the thing about girl best friends man. Lots of people believe it's not possible to be best friends with the opposite gender without catching feelings. Really sucks how a person may change once we tell them how we feel. I'm very sorry bro. I hope things will get better

I can relate to this a lot. Especially the last 2 hits home for me. It's hard to let go and feeling like the only one hanging on. I have to keep coming too terms with some I've been friends a long time with. We're not best friends but it still the same for me. I finally let them both go because we keep disagreeing to the point not working out or repeated pattern.

Literally before the virus, we were fine, texting, seeing each other at school, I was feeling great, but ever since corona happened everything changed. We became super distant and the last time she texted me was about 2-3 months ago, she hasn’t texted or called me to even check up on me. The thing that really hurts is that I see her on her socials with her other friend, and she never invites me 😔 I’ve never felt like this before, having extreme sadness. ♡ Don't blame yourself it's not your fault things like this happen in life and you feel you'll be broken for ever but once you gey over the worst of it you'll feel better. TRUST ME!
♡ Always trust your gut in these types of situations as your heart will want to stay.
♡ As well as you possibly can try not to let this get in the way of what you love.
♡ Try to relieve some stress from something else off your shoulders (alot of school work take a break or if you don't have any time for a break talk to a teacher you are close with I'm sure they'll understand.
♡ TELL SOMEONE! I am terrible with social situations and kind of have social anxiety but if you tell someone you're close with they can support you. (A mistake I made with this though was going to someone who I didn't really know and was part of the reason on why I had a panic attack due to me being so nervous to talk to her.)
