I remember the first time I did this. I was so nervous that I was going to break my bike but I pulled it off. 😅 Since then, I do almost all of my bike maintenance and I’m not going back. 😌
Beautiful service. I love the detailed attention you give to each individual part. Would have loved to have seen the before / after spin.... I guess you can't experience the smoothness of the freshly serviced hub. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Damien! In terms of filming “smoothness” you wouldn’t believe how hard it is lol, without being there and feeling the bearings yourself the camera really doesn’t pick up the difference to show you
I worked on my bike recently and had it upside down. I had serviced (cleaned and regreased) the hub and was pleasently surprised when the wheel was still spinning after I put some stuff away. Definitely an uplifting experience :-) for filming, a stopwatch and a repeateable way of spinning the wheel would be doable - but that's just numbers then, don't know if it will be exciting.
Wow thank you for your video ! This is exactly the problem i have with two giant rear wheels, but when I see your video I know that for me it is not a 7minute job but a 7 hours.
Great video, outstanding. Some top lubrication tips especially. I like the way you Fast FWD throughout saving time and getting to the important stuff. Best maintenance vids by far( and i watch a lot of them).
@@Bikespeeds Super...any chance that sometime in the future you could do a quick video on "advice for buying and using an Ultrasonic cleaner for bicycle components" Watching you Pros at work i think i'm doing things the hard way! Cheers again.
Awesome stuff, liked and subscribed 😊 I have the same Giant hubs with 9mm qr end caps, if I got a more modern frame that is 12mm or 15mm through axle mount, can I just swap out these end caps?
Neither of those questions I can answer really. The press I’ve had for years & the bearings are brought wholesale so I can’t provide a link for retail.
@@carlpeternoe6301 I use bearings with a good abec rating & depending on application or the customers budget will determine ceramic or stainless balls & even which seals (low friction or not)
Nice video, it would be nice to get more close up of everything... can you please give a link to that copper stuff you are using. Is it the same that's used on my trance bottom bracket? I thought it was rust I saw when I removed my BB...
I don't want to be 'that guy' but you should really use the basket with your ultrasonic cleaner if you care about it. Using without could damage or weaken the transducers in the long term. Great video. Nicely edited and to the point.
Hi. Hoping you can answer my question. Can you remove the freehub body without removing the axle? Can you simple pull it out after removing the cassette?
We filmed this one some time ago, I don’t remember the specific wheel. But the majority of wheels you would need to remove the axle. There are wheels where you don’t need to some of the Zipp wheels are like that. But it’s not that common
Sorry MAX__Apex I can’t answer either of those questions it was a while ago we filmed this one, I can’t even remember the wheel now let alone any specifics from them! I think that would be a question best pointed to DT Swiss themselves

Great work!🧡
Another great maintenance lesson from you. Bravo from Greece...

Thanks for the videos! What bearing extractor do you use? Greetings from Chile.
This is actually a random one I believe I got off of eBay not anything special! Thanks for the support🧡
That’s art! Thanks for the info!
Nice to see someone doing the job properly.😇

Really good video of the rebuild…. Like that you explain why you prefer to use specific grease etc…. Nice work
Thanks Carl, we did a grease and lubricant specific guide recently if you fancy a watch!
Excellent products …
Very nicely done 🚴🏼
Thanks Paul!🧡
Champion 👏🏼
Excellent video mate
I love your Vids, but this was the best so far for me as I have a set of these wheels , its nice to see how easy the free hub is to service .
Thanks Nick!🧡
I'm for Philippines i love your videos 🙈
We appreciate that! 🧡
I have the exact same hub like you. I want to know what size of bearings i need to buy.

Hi, Great video. Do you have a link to the type of bearing press you have used to drive in the sealed bearings please.
Why did you add some extra bearing to your press, it is not already integrated into the handle for a straight push with no bushing turning ?
Which is better of the two? Copper or aluminum anti-seize for how you would use it on parts?
@0:45 how are you removing the axle?
What bearings did you use to replace? Could you provide a link? Also what tools are used to remove them? Thanks! Great video!
I buy my bearings from a wholesaler so can’t provide a link, sorry.
@@Bikespeeds thay look like ntn bearing if that's the case massive upgrade from the giant ones
Great video I've seen on this issue, kindly any chance you could share with me details of the bearing fitting tool, thank you.
This is one we’ve had many many years and lost track of where it even came from so can’t help you there unfortunately. Thanks very much for watching🧡
Was just wondering what kind of water based degrease you use. Great vids by the way
It’s not water based it’s water soluble. We use “no nonsense” heavy duty degreaser
which bearings did you use?
Nice video. And yes I would also like to know the brand of the press tool and the new better bearings

Does this fit on a bike rack?
what size bearing are you using with this wheels
What Is the bearing size??
The wheel does not appear to be much larger than normal?

What brand of bearing you recomend for bike hub sir ?
We can’t say we have an allegiance. As long as their the right size and greased well they’ll work fine🧡
Does anyone know if this is the kind of bearings for a 2011(ish) Giant Cypress?
what the program used for spokes?
can you convert a giant performer tracker hub to a xd driver?
Are these DT 370 , if so can I convert these to the star ratchet 240 with the conversion kit
