    No matter the coating if you have light hit the panel you’ll have distortion on the screen. The matte creates a hazy white flection whereas the glossy has a more mirrored look. Glossy all day.

    These two TVs deserve side by side comparison in a normal living room. Anti glare screens are usually welcome but if that means less dynamic range and less vibrant colours that it is not something that some people will embrace happily ! Thus, more tests and more comaprisons are eagerly awaited ! Great first look, though !

I want the picture to look great from a $3,000 TV.. not like crap but but woohoo it has blinding highlights. Processing is everything, not nits. The nits are already fine. The processing isn't.

    But my main gripe against glossy finishes, is that the crisp reflection is distracting, and can make you focus on the object/window being reflected instead of the picture.

    Being a projector guy, I really like this matte finish. The frame goes too far for me the other way in terms of what you give up in image quality, so this might be the sweet spot. I never really liked the shiny gloss of TV. I grew up going to the cinema pretty much every week. I even used to skip school to go to the cinema with my lunch money so there’s allot of nostalgia attached the that no reflection look for me. It’s a bit like the argument for vinyl vs digital music or movies shot on film instead of digital. It’s not always about high fidelity, sometimes it’s about the way it makes you feel because of what you’ve grown up on. It’s not a science based argument. It’s an emotional one.
    Fingers crossed this looks great in person 🤞so glad there are options for everyone.

    As an owner of the S95B 65" & S95C 55" the cleaning comment God damn let me tell you what... I prefer the gloss over matte but the only solution I found that is reliable is 70% isopropyl alcohol just don't leave it on the screen for long and you better make sure you have multiple clean micro Fibre clothes at the ready. Because the grease just loves to smear and get trapped on the coating and you gotta worth your tail of to make it turn back to that Rosa color because any grease not cleaned will leave a blue smudge.

      Only use water. It does take work but limit it to that single area and don't go all crazy. Use a microfiber cloth and put some water on it. Dab the spot then use the dry area of the cloth to clear it out. Use a circular motion if needed to even it out.

    Genuine questions here as I am curious…
    if hypothetically, cinemas had glossy screens instead of matte, would people prefer this? (Same image quality in this hypothetical) 🤷

    Kind of wondering at this point what the difference between the S90D and C is. I’d be happy with the same TV if it didn’t tilt towards purple in a brighter room, but I don’t think that will be the case.

    Thanks for the demo KG, this is great news! I always found mirror reflections incredibly distracting outside of a blacked out room. The bigger the screen, the worse it gets. This was always a dealbreaker for me with OLED.

    I mean what other third gen QD-OLED's are there this year? Sony isn't expected to announced an A95M and the X95M is their 2024 flagship. TCL and Hisense don't have QD-OLED's. LG absolutely doesn't. I think Sharp has one releasing this year, but its not confirmed to be third gen since it's technically last year's model.

    • @riptonedwards9175
      @riptonedwards9175 8 месяцев назад

      Who told you this is third generation panel samsung has not confirmed you need to understand samsung display is a seperate company

    • @nihren2406
      @nihren2406 8 месяцев назад +1

      @riptonedwards9175 Why would the S95D not be third generation? Thus far they haven't shown off a new generation panel that Samsung Electronics has not then used in their flagship QD-OLED. The third gen QD-OLED panel was at the show. This particular demo unit might not have been, according to KG they didn't say, but the third gen panel is there and Samsung was proudly showing it off with its improvements.

    • @nihren2406
      @nihren2406 8 месяцев назад

      @riptonedwards9175 also I suppose I should clarify that I was referring to Samsung Electronic's S95D, not Samsung Displays demonstration panel which as KG said could be anything. I am well aware that Display and Electronics are two related but separate businesses. But if Display makes a new QD-OLED panel and it is ready in time for a mass market release, Samsung Electronics is likely to use it unless it's cost prohibitive.

    • @riptonedwards9175
      @riptonedwards9175 8 месяцев назад

      What i. Am trying to explain to you is that samsung display is a seperate company they are cousins samsung electronics his now buying panels from samsung they don't alto buy from samsung display I think the third panels will be used later on this year on the a95m oled tv and 2025 samsung sony will launch 2 master series tv you will see the x95m mini led in March allthough it won't come to market before September you will also see sharp qd oled in a few weeks, flanders scientific his putting the brighter panel in the Pro display arena

      I think if it was the 3rd gen Samsung would've mentioned or marketed it. He did say the D was more punchy but that could be anything as the C might have been tuned differently. I do wonder if they just slapped on the matte screen and called it a day. Who knows but I won't be surprised.

    It doesn't seem to lose much brightness - in stores a lot of these TVs reflect overhead lights because they are higher and that creates an angle with the ceiling lights. I have a feeling the S95D will look better than any TV at a store especially if mounted higher.
    That chair at 4:00 looks really nice and it's also part of Samsung's new furniture series called the Disappearing Chair (cool effect)😂😂

    Matte finish sucks. Stop watching OLED in a room with lights. You're doing it wrong. THX reference standards is to watch a movie with 5 nits of ambient light max. Buy a QLED for your living room and leave this in a basement. This is a TV for enthusiast, not the average consumer.
