    BIG mistake on my part. I said it was Herman goring who flew to Britain and died. It was rudolf hess and he did not die but was captured. Not sure why I messed that part up! I’m pretty sure I was combining things with the flight into Belgium. I will be placing a small edit to remove that specific statement for OBVIOUS reasons

IIRC it's calmed down since, but while the Rhaetic areas are linguistically closer to Italian, they're culturally Germanic. Suggesting Tyrol would be given to Italy makes no sense unless you're Mussolini and will just take anything you can get for free.

    There are many cases where countries no joining the war was actually benefitial to themselves and even their allies. Thus the question:
    What if Italy continued to support Germany in all it could, BUT refused to join WWII like Franco did? What if instead Italy had pursued "peaceful" coercion of "Latin Union", let's call it? Ie they would continue building up and trading, thus helping keep the resource flow to Germany open and not dragging Germany to war with Greece or in Lybia. Italy that tries to persuade Franco and Metaxas to join and presents Vichy France with another option which drags them into this pseudo alliance that is not in the war. There is no Case Anton, but there is also no Operation Torch and invasion of Italy, germany doesn't lose their paratroopers. How will it change situation for Germany and will Mussolini be able to "Franco" his way into staying in power after WWII?

      collectivization is probably less common and brutal, though. dekulakization will still happen (most kulaks were reported by their own employees) and so will the 1932 famine (which was unavoidable: it's probably not as bad, though). when germany invades come the 40s, the USSR is probably in a similar position after WW2. bukharin probably doesn't make so many missteps with bureaucratization but it's gonna come without a big force to stop it, which nobody in the government really cared about (one of the biggest flaws of the USSR!)

      @@TheArklyte why in the world would this happen? this isn't what he even wanted, what? hitler wanted to knock out britain before invading the USSR. (this, of course, was a stupid idea, because he was nothing if not stupid)
      after germany enters a war against the west there is no world where the USSR doesn't fight germany with them. germany wanted to invade the USSR and the USSR wanted to invade germany as early as 1938 when they proposed a mutual defense agreement with the UK and france.

    • @TheArklyte
      @TheArklyte 4 месяца назад

      @@piyo744 Hitler didn't want to fight UK to begin with as he viewed Germany as weaker then France and UK combined. This is why Molotov-Ribbentrop was signed and why it was agreed with Mussolini that his invasion of Greece would coincide with german and soviet invasion of Poland. Because Hitler believed that UK and France would chicken out on declaring war on all 3. They didn't. And they didn't declare on USSR. And both Stalin and Mussolini postponed their invasions to evade wrath of UK and France. So yeah, threeway war is 100% what Hitler hoped for in case war couldn't be avoided.
      And yes, his goal since 1934 and even before that was always invading the east. Invasion of Poland was just getting him a foothold to invade USSR. That's why fighting France and UK would be counterproductive to his main goal.
      So it's my turn to ask, what are YOU on about, eh?

    Iirc Hitler (not German army but Hitler himself) wanted a war with Czechoslovakia, and was pissed that it was resolved peacefully.
    Also France and UK didn't do nothing in 1939. The alliance with France obligated Poland to hold on for (I think it was) a month so France could mobilize and conduct attack on the western border of Germany. This plan failed because Germans were at the outskirts of Warsaw just after a week. Despite not finished mobilization, France DID attack Germany, and was met with some resistance (they didn't reach proper Ziegfried Line yet). Germans had whole air fleet on the west and two land armies, to defend themself. UK also quickly swapped leaflets for bombs

      They knew. But UK had massive hard-on for destroying competition. The only way Versailles can be avoided is if Germany never switches to unrestricted submarine warfare and thus american public still views germans favourably and demands US to oppose UK in peace talks.
      That would likely mean that Weimar Republic would be less of a republic and more of a constitutional monarchy and that it'll be a close ally and trade partner to United States. No rise of national socialism, but communism becomes a more pressing issue.

    Killing Hitler would put just another nazi into the place instead, perhaps even worse one and war would be different then maybe but not much from historical version

They would probably not turn fascist, as they wouldn't lose northern Transylvania to the Hungarians. The state would probably still be under King Carol II, being a closer ally to France and Britain. Just like reality, the state flipped against the Germans. Maybe faster or maybe they helped with some volunteers if they got some protection agains further Soviet threat
