You are so cool Robbie! I learn so much from you.I have plans for my first garden on a new property. After learning about and feeding so many hummingbirds (after they kept showing up and looking at me through the windows) I now have an interest in returning what was once a deer's meadow back to it's former glory. We are lucky enough to be next to a fenced wildlife corridor. We have seen deer, elk, weasels, geese and a wolverwine. I want this to be their safe feeding ground. A safe food plot for the wildlife. I thank you for creating that interest. I have always been an animal lover and this is a plan that feels so right. I want to give back and share their land with the wildlife. I thank you for inspiring me while neighbors are planting sod. I am so excited for the year ahead. I just want to thank you for your joy and inspiration!

Robbie you are super duper. I would urge you to also cover some important steps such as where do you put them, light, do you have to water them? what outside temperature to start these indoors? as we are all living in different zones.

Thank You Robbie I just got my 40 yards of white Tule today and I will head out to the recycle on the curb to get those plastic containers before dark. Tomorrow is recycle day Lol. I can’t wait to see my baby plants growing in my plastic container seed starters with no worry about the water on the bottom. I got my plastic bins for my Container Garden. They don’t sell the plastic resin chairs anywhere on Amazon or in my local area. If they do they are cheep and expensive. I have four from years ago so I will use the four and leave the rest of the bins (4) in front of the chairs. I’ll make it work. Thank you again for all of your gardening wisdom. I have bad knees so I like container gardening. The bins will work out like a charm for me!! Many Blessings !! I have my humming bird containers getting all ready to go too. Oh and if anyone wants monarch butterflies to come and lay eggs, plant Milkweed. The monarch butterflies will only lay eggs on that plant. Enjoy!!

Robbie, I've always been intimidated by starting seeds. The whole seed tray, bottom watering, heat map, grow lights etc. This method triggered me. I soak beans overnight before I cook them. If I "soak" seeds and keep them moist and drain the excess water, they will plump and sprout. And when the sprouts get their true leaves, they can be lifted intact, separated and planted directly into my totes (which are healthy with my own soil thanks to you). And covered with tulle lids to keep them protected. It's just practical genius! Now I can diversify my plant choices and don't have to be at the mercy of Wal-Mart offerings, not that there's anything wrong with that! (Seinfeld) 😂

Barbara, when I started the seeds in the plastic bag method I do, less then half germinated, but I only did a few, now I am TOO lazy to keep an eye on the bags, so I am doing it this way and keeping them on the windowsill. It so far has only been 3 days since I started the new seeds, I think I should do more, and maybe keep them as houseplants until next year, if our weather turns cold? I will see and let you know. Try some in that plastic bag method also and see what works best for these cool looking plants. Take care!

Before I ever saw your videos I planted cherry and roma tomatoes in toilet paper tubes. Today I used sole tulle and placed the Roma plants still in the tubes. I placed 5 tubes of leggy seedlings that fit into a large cottage cheese container but did not add any potting soil as the tubes are filled with soil from previously. Should I add potting soil around the tubes now? And how often should I water? When dry down to half a finger? I gave them a good soaking this morning and saved the water to dole out to other seedlings. I love your informative videos.

Well....I really this idea .... speaking as someone who's been really trying hard at planting fruits and veggies this idea if I'm right will give the ability to put back nutrients that get washed out with the water.....any ideas to the contrary I'm all ears as I have a passion for learning this craft.... especially concerning growing in containers

Well said! Yes, some potting soils do have some "plant food" in it already to get things started, so using that water to water other plants growing is a win win, Thank you so much 😊

You can also save the runoff to water again if need be.

Very clever! I like to direct sow as many seeds as possible but of course certain plants really need to be transplanted. My growing season is pretty much done but I will try this next spring. This looks like it will be useful for small space growers such as myself.
