- a film about the 1987 built Stena Germanica
and 1988 built Stena Scandinavica in service on the ferry route Kiel - Göteborg in the early 2000s.
During our crossing we also see the DFDS Seaways ferry Princess of Scandinavia, the Stena Line ferries Stena Jutlandica, Stena Carisma, Stena Danica, Stena Freighter and the cruise ship Deutschland.

Wie ich die alte germanica/scandinavica vermisse 😭 An jeder Ecke auf jedem Deck gab es da etwas zu entdecken. Die neuen sind ja leider sehr sehr zweckmäßig konzipiert, nicht eine einzige Fenster-Hallway. Und vor allem: KEINE Slotmachines, KEINE Arcade-Ecken. Eine Fährfahrt oder permanentes Münzgeklimper und Slotgedudel ist KEINE vollwertige Fährfahrt!!!
33:00 om where are these ferries now? where you can walk around for hours and there's HUNDREDS of people eating and shopping and in the bar dancing, kids everywhere... any large ferry i get on now, like the Stena Europe, all year round, even when it's full of cars and trucks etc, half the amenities are closed because no one is interested. Only a few people in the restaurant, few people sitting down... where are all these people gone... planes?

@@fse.destinations Have you noticed ferries are empty now apart from drivers? people used to fill those resdtaurants on ferrys and the bars, now they're mostly emptyu apart from freight and cars, no atmosphere :(
@@boogiestreet594 Yes :( when I make my videos of ferries always on Skania driving from Ystad was fully of People and now it is empty :(
@@fse.destinations Yeah :( and i don't only mean now during the crisis, i mean in general, i remember back in mid to late 90's and even early 2,000's i used to travel every christmas from Fishuard to Rosslare in ireland around the 19th of december on the Sealink (Stena Line) Felicity, a lovely big old standard Ferry, For me as i was only about 13 then, it was the biggest movin object I'd ever seen in real life. I used to always worry that the weight of ours and everyone elses suitcases and the cars etc would be too heavy for the ship LOL I was so afraid, We'd sit up on the higher decks in the restaurant/canteen at the start for food, I'd sit on the big window Ceils looking out into the blackness (always at 3am we sailed to get into Waterford early in the morning) and I'd always look down at the white wake of the water as we sunk down into it, and I'd know how rough the weather was by just how far out the wake went. I'd be so afraid of my weight capsizin the ship, I wouldn't full lean on the window, and i'd constantly be doin this weird thing that i though was reducing my weight hahaha, like tensin up// such a weird kid. When the cars and trucks and buses were loading, I'd be watchin the blue painted line down near the water line like a hawk, trying to see ifi could see the ship visibly sinking slightly lower as each vehicle went onto the ship lol... anyway, the ship would be PACKED with people, there;d be people actually sleeping under the main stairs and in the halls etc, the bar would be PACKEEEED and there'd be a band playing all night/morning. Let me ask you something, do you remember that strangely nice smell of when you're on the car deck, and there's that smell of a mix between the slat ocean water and the deisel fuel and petrol mix of the vehicles? Anytime i smell that it instantly gives me nostalgic memroeis... And the way the smell changes slightly to a different nice smell when you slide open or pull open those water tight bulkhead doors on the cardecks to the stairs that bring you into the pasenger areas of the ships? lol
@@fse.destinations hey dude, can you read my first comment, but then read this i just wrote, forget the spellin i'm on my phone lol, im copy pasting it, @BANASTRE TARLETON Can you even conceive of the though of being trapped on that ship in the pitch black (the estonia) as the power went off and you hear everyone screaming and you're just startin to be able to stand on the wall of the hallway you're in and you can hear the roaring water and creeking bending and breakin metal bulkheads and your senses are goinjg absolutely BALISTIC, a feeling of SHEER Animal TERROR, of absolute disgusting horror as you notice yourself making some moaning horrible animal noise you've never heard yourself make before,,, pure primalordial fear, your brain and body KNOWIN now, right now, that this is it, you're not goint to make it out this time, you're not going realie you're in a dream and wake yourself up from it... You almost pass out from how fast your heart is beating but your brain is in fight of flight mode now so it WON'T let you pass out and not experience the moment of your death on full alert, because even though you KNOW you're about to die in probably THE worst death any human being has ever experienced, and you're wishing you could pass out and go quietly, but your subconscious braind actually doesn't know it would be better to immobilize your and make you faint, your subconscious animal brain basically thinks you're bein attacked by a a strange animal or you're being attacked by another person so it actually does the opposite and keepts you on full high alert...then you feel the rush of BITTER ice cold air fly across you so fast, the pressure nearly knocks you back as the roar of the water starts to deafen you and you know right now the water is here and its right now you're going to experience that which every human being has ever lived has spent their entire lives tryin to avoid. Please don't me go through this and there not be something at least after this horror ends with me sceaming this frighteningly terrible scream of anguish and horror. Please don't let these countless Billions of people before me who have spent their entire lives prayin and preaching about how the his lord or that lords loves us and wants to save our souls, only for me to get notihng short of BRUTALIZED only for the lights of my life to go out and everything turns into a black oblivion, and nothin more than just an end of existence as far as you are concerned and thats it. Nothinness. Blackness that you will never experince. You're gone, and whats left of your body months later is there, ravaged, torn to ragged pieces, your skin at least, bones all over your battered skeleton fracture beyond comprehension... a dim light comes on and then immediately brightens up the hall way you're your body is floati in ... almost like in suspended animation... bloated and purple, putrid... pushed up against what was the ceilin bow now is the floor... the guy floats pas underneath your body and is horrified as he sees your bloated torn and smahed cadavre, his helmet touched your foot as he floats by under you, your body is so putrid at this stage after 3 months that the STINKING, Blacked, putrid, rotten flesh, with yellow puss filled lumps and purple look scar tissues just easily slides off and slowly falls... drifts away downwards in his wak, revealinh the toes and most of the front of the foot of your skeleton, he slowly makes his way down the corridore, movin your 6 year old daughter unrecognizable corpse out of the way by pushin her gently back inside the door of the cabin she had floated out of and up towards the ceilin (Floor), she's in such bad condition, he actually thought he was pushing a bunch of balled up clothin that came out of a wardrobe out of the way, and not your beautiful little Daughter Chloe... he passes to more savaged bloated bodies os purple and putrid he can't tell if they were male or female, or indeed if they were human or not without having to have a quick autopsy, he drifts around the corner towards the main staircase you almost made it too before the ships capsized on an anlge too much that you couldn't reach the landing above you, you were jumpin tryin to grab it but were 4 inches to far down, so you tried to run back down the corridore towards the other stairs, thats when the lights went out.His light now slowly gets dimmer and dimmer... and dimmer, now it's gone again.. and there yours and your babies remnants shall hang in suspended animation, your life force, your smiles her laughs. your existences... gone to the nether
The passanger ferries were better in the 90s and 2000s. Now there is a new ships between gothenburg and kiel the new ships sucks.
