Tailor binge, I felt that on a personal level. All my clothes fit so much better now. Sadly, still using a handheld machine, so I’ve been overlocking my edges by hand, but it’s nice to know once I get a machine, this can be streamlined
@@StylishDTailors Tabletop machines are just out of budget right now. Hope soon to get that M1000 you suggested, or the MX231 if I hold out a bit longer. Is it worth it to wait for a better machine, or just to jump on the M1000 if I can get it?
Thank you for these videos! I'm tackling customing my closet and can't find anyone who specializes in the nuances of female clothing in the same way you approach self-tailoring. You videos have been invaluable, with some tweaks for the ladies!
@@StylishDTailors I just tailored my first set of pants tonight!! Only broke the thread three times during the zigzag, but they look great now! Thanks so much and please keep them coming. I sense a tailoring binge coming on.......
I was just wondering today how can I zigzag stitch? And Bam! You come through SD! I’m thinking about making my boys their own pajama pants as they are too big for kids sizes and too small for mens… weird transition, so if I can tailor my daughters pants with your help to a perfect fit, surely I can make some soft fleece Pj’s for my boys! And again you’ve saved the tailoring and sewing day!! You rock!!! Looking forward for your zigzag stitch demo video! 😃🧵
Love your energy my Bro!,New to tailoring and loving it. Question? Any suggestions on must have footers, accessories, needles(both for hand sewing and machine sewing) biggeners can purchase to do do a variety of related projects designed to improve wardrobe. I have not seen you address that subject. Just asking. You got a nice thing going on. Good for you!
Welcome to the fam! I suggest hopping on FB marketplace and buying a used machine for like $50. All of your beginner supplies can be bought at Walmart as well!
Lol a step I'd rather skip if it's not required, unless I'm missing something. Cause my athletic shirts / T shirts, I don't even finish the edges lol. It's been through the wash multiple times and it hasn't come apart. Jeans or dress shirts I DEFINITELY would finish the edge since it frays and get all stringy and stuff. But t shirts I think you can just cut it close to the part you sew and it'll just curl into itself.
My machine is ancient & I don't have stitch options - or a zigzag foot attachment. Is there a way to fake a zigzag stitch?? I'm sewing on T-shirt fabric and need to keep the stretch in my neck & arm holes. (Sewing dog hoodies😊) Your tutorials are awesome!
Tried this so many times but the fabric gets eaten by the machine so I cant tailor anything. If I have to I'll use the zigzag scissors but no where near as effective.
Where have you gone~?!! Us guys went out and purchased a sewing machine, and you left us... We need more input... (Ok... That was from a 1980s robot movie...) But we need more informational help~!!!! preferably how to 'upsize' clothes that the Covin panic has caused us to out grow... Jest say'un...

How come you're still using a handheld machine? Just curious?

Thanks for making these videos brother. Phenomenal energy. Love and respect from Toronto.
Much appreciated, used to go to Toronto all the time as a kid! Awesome city!
THIS is what I’ve been looking for. Thanks man! 👍
No problem!
Just started watching your channel. You’ve inspired me to get a sewing machine and tailor my own stuff, thank you.
Awesome to hear! Have fun getting addicted, you think I’m kidding…
Your videos are so easy to learn from! I watch them no remind myself how to do the things. 😆
Glad you like them! Love getting comments like these!

You are so welcome! I've thought about branching into women's clothes, would that be something that would interest you?
@@StylishDTailors ABSOLUTELY!!!! Please do!
@@StylishDTailors yes please!!! You definitely have the best self-tailoring videos, but having some more tips for female apparel would be so helpful!

Very true, I usually finish the side seams of my shirts BUT it isn't necessary every time.

Unfortunately not, you can get a used machine that can do them though for super cheap, like $30 no problem!
Just went and re-watched this one. How do you lock the stitch using a zigzag? Can you reverse and go forward as you do with a straight stitch?
Correct!
Thanks
No problem!
So you do a straight stich first, leaving a 5/8 inch seam allowance, and then go over the edge of the seam with a zig zag stitch?
Exactly!
Bro it's 1 am here

Try checking your feed dogs (the teeth at the bottom of your machine), they might be raised too high and eating your garment.

That's a great idea!! I definitely have some clothes that don't fit anymore...
like dude you could make so much money offering tailor made thrift shop clothes.... that's nuts
Hmm…not a bad idea haha!!
please don’t use too many effects in your videos they are disturbing..
