The attack Roshi does is the drunken fighting style that you sometimes see in movies And the reason Krillin's scatter ball is exploding the ground before it shoots is because thats what it did in the show
Roshi’s combo is the same as his grab move in BT3. The only thing you forgot to check, but yeah the grab is basically 1:1 with what he did in the Sparking Zero trailer. It basically confirms grabs are returning, they just showed him doing it before the grab animation it seems
I still think that Whis Ice Cream thing is supposed to be those character buffs like Saiyan Soul, Fake Courage and Finish Sign. Since he does that animation in Kakarot during Battle phases for buffs. Watch Beerus have Sleep as well similar to how Kid Buu had in BT3.
This is something that Dragon Ball fans have completely forgotten at this point, but in Dragon Ball Super, in the Battle of Gods arc, Beerus has this technique that nullifies energy to 0, it's possible that that is what Whis is doing during this trailer

1:43 The new-ish moves Roshi does remind me heavily of Shun Di from Virtua Fighter who uses drunken fist fighting style. I couldn't say if that is what they were going for or if Roshi ever used Drunken fist before in the anime but that's what it reminds me of.
1:43 is Roshi's grab. Confirmation of grabs coming back. The only difference with it now is the finisher has been changed & is better. Likewise with Sonic Sway; it would seem characters may not have copied & pasted counterattack animations anymore as Gohan does a new kick instead.
One armed Gohan is huge. Usually games just have him with both arms, and only using one to fight. Idk why it's so exciting for this attention to detail.

iirc, you talked about the Z counter on another video, but I see you didn't mention it here 8:00 It breaks you out of _any_ contact move _at any point,_ and yes even combo specials, but the timing is astronomically strict *and* in the case of the timings of each hit, you need to memorize the frames of each attack separately, so you can Z counter accordingly. On top of that, when it is succesfully done, at the vanishing strike, you can press circle to counter the Z counter, and the opponent can do the same, but each time a..."Z counter counter" is done, the sequence gets faster, and faster, and faster, and faster, until a player cannot keep up with it and fails. A friend of mine and I played almost 12 hours per day for almost a year, and until the end, we were able to pull this off consistently, and get a 10 sequences of "Z counter counter" Yes, it is _hard, really, really, really hard_ to do it, but it is an option (ofc, you can mash ↑ + □ until it works, but it is too inconsistent)
I hope they add QTES in the action parts of the cutscenes in story mode while maintaining the core Tenkaichi battle style that they have now!!!..and do it right like one example is to actually have the giants be able to move and fight freely and when they’re health gets low it triggers a cinematic QTE like in the Storm series to really show off the power of Unreal Engine 5
When My cousin and I played bt2 back then we would do something we call volleyball, where one of us would send a charged ki blast and keep bouncing it back between each other through the whole match lol.. Something like that would be fun in this game too
8:20 you can in fact break out of a combo without losing health in BT3 . its called a Z counter by pressing square + up/down the moment u get hit . its a difficult move to pull off so i dont blame you for not knowing about it .
It’s cool to see the sonic sway back, but I also hope they’ll keep the manual version of it, where you can dodge light attacks individually by pressing guard + square
Something im really happy about, Raging Blast is kind based off of (or is literally just) budokai tenkaichi, seeing the development Sparking Zero is like seeing the development of Raging Blast 3
The first detail of gut punch maybe it was special interaction between gohan and picolo he doesn't hit him due their bond but if it were another charector he would do gut punch as usual
4:50 it looks like the Aura Guard that was in BT2. Where a character basically flexes to raise their defense. That was always one of my favorite mechanics so id be happy to see it back (as long as i dont need it to block rush attacks x.x)
There is actually a combo break technique in tankaichi 3 that costs only 1 ki bar i believe You need to press (if i'm not mistaken) circle+triangle at the exact moment an attack hits and your character will take a defense stance, deflect the attack and start a teleportation combo I can't remember the name exactly, but if you go to the tutorial room it teaches you do that there
ive played the shit outta the budokai tenkaichi games on ps2 and i never knew you could do the ultra instinct type of dodging nor the hp cost type of ki explosion, great video and i love to learn more!
I just realized that if that that not Super perception Whis did isn’t a super reflection, it’s entirely possible that Whis has a unique auto deflect/dodge mechanic Becuase of his perpetual Ultra Instinct (which would then hint that UI may have something like that as well). UI Goku is one of the big selling point characters, so it wouldn’t shock me if he and Whis (and hopefully Vados) just had some special mechanics.

It breaks you out of _any_ contact move _at any point,_ and yes even combo specials, but the timing is astronomically strict *and* in the case of the timings of each hit, you need to memorize the frames of each attack separately, so you can Z counter accordingly. On top of that, when it is succesfully done, at the vanishing strike, you can press circle to counter the Z counter, and the opponent can do the same, but each time a..."Z counter counter" is done, the sequence gets faster, and faster, and faster, and faster, until a player cannot keep up with it and fails. A friend of mine and I played almost 12 hours per day for almost a year, and until the end, we were able to pull this off consistently, and get a 10 sequences of "Z counter counter"
Yes, it is _hard, really, really, really hard_ to do it, but it is an option (ofc, you can mash ↑ + □ until it works, but it is too inconsistent)
I hope they add QTES in the action parts of the cutscenes in story mode while maintaining the core Tenkaichi battle style that they have now!!!..and do it right like one example is to actually have the giants be able to move and fight freely and when they’re health gets low it triggers a cinematic QTE like in the Storm series to really show off the power of Unreal Engine 5

When My cousin and I played bt2 back then we would do something we call volleyball, where one of us would send a charged ki blast and keep bouncing it back between each other through the whole match lol.. Something like that would be fun in this game too
8:20 you can in fact break out of a combo without losing health in BT3 . its called a Z counter by pressing square + up/down the moment u get hit . its a difficult move to pull off so i dont blame you for not knowing about it .

4:50 it looks like the Aura Guard that was in BT2. Where a character basically flexes to raise their defense. That was always one of my favorite mechanics so id be happy to see it back (as long as i dont need it to block rush attacks x.x)
There is actually a combo break technique in tankaichi 3 that costs only 1 ki bar i believe
You need to press (if i'm not mistaken) circle+triangle at the exact moment an attack hits and your character will take a defense stance, deflect the attack and start a teleportation combo
I can't remember the name exactly, but if you go to the tutorial room it teaches you do that there

I just realized that if that that not Super perception Whis did isn’t a super reflection, it’s entirely possible that Whis has a unique auto deflect/dodge mechanic Becuase of his perpetual Ultra Instinct (which would then hint that UI may have something like that as well).
UI Goku is one of the big selling point characters, so it wouldn’t shock me if he and Whis (and hopefully Vados) just had some special mechanics.
