It's 2021 and sadly you can't find one of these... Surprised that Empress discontinued it... Much better than any of the graphic equalizers available now...
They come up for sale used pretty frequently. Watch reverb/facebook/craigslist. I was able to get one a few months ago
They discontinued them so they could release the newer versions of this pedal
The best boost in the market, If you use this pedal as a Boost you get you natural amp sound and the boost with no color, and there its a lot you can do with it! Sick,sick. :)
Empress really makes some high quality and unique stuff! Great demo for this one, especially how you demonstrated each parameter in the last half of the video. Bravo!

Its a secret weapon pedal for sure. most guitarist just do not think about these eq pedals and thats too bad they can make such a huge, positive difference in overall tone.empress makes really high quality stuff.

I have this pedal and it is absolutely amazing what you can do with it. Someone down in an earlier thread asked if it could put anywhere in the signal path? While I don't see any reason why it couldn't be put anywhere, I would personally recommend putting it right up front and get really comfortable with it by itself and explore what all it can do. Simply for the reason that it allows you to very precisely (and I mean VERY!) dial in the exact core tone you're looking for, given the guitar, string type, how you play it, and what the style/mood of the piece you're playing. The possibilities are endless which is really cool. At least for finger style acoustic guitar work, I believe it's paramount to shape your core tone precisely to what you want. I would imagine it would be a similar need for electrics if you're trying to find that 'just right" sound. With the insanely low THD it is perfect for acoustic players. This video only begins to show what the capabilities are. It was my very first pedal and I'm still exploring with it!

First off: that 335 type guitar you were playing is absolutely gorgeous in looks and sound. Love it. What kind us it? Secondly, this EQ is exactly what Ive been needing. Graphic EQs work well but dont get you where you need to be. I am really digging the stuff that Empress is creating. Thanks Mr. Mike.
The 335 is made by Collings. Amazing guitar. The Paraeq is really great. Very easy to dial in

I like the idea, though feel your guitar and amp choice is gorgeously voiced already. Would be very usefull with lesser gear. I like Mesa eq's to sweeten tones of mesa's for different styles of music. Jazz tones from a rectifier for instance
I already like my basic tone as well. I use this to bring clarity to my humbucker neck guitars. To cut through the mix live. It's also just an amazing clean boost that you can really fine tune. Swiss Army knife tone shaper

I know this is an old post but a great one! I quickly looked through the comments to find what your signal chain is (where exactly in the chain did you place the Para EQ) ... at the end, in the middle or at beginning. Love all your videos and great, expressive playing too. If you find the time, I'd greatly appreciate knowing where the sweet spot is when placing my Para EQ on my new pedalboard (which I've had for many years - just never put it on any of my pedalboards ... it's been used more for my home studio).
I've got mine in my effect's loop before my reverb and delay pedals and it works great. But just experiment to see what you like.
So my entire signal chain is...
Guitar > Overdrive > Fuzz > Amp Effect's Loop IN > EQ > Reverb > Delay > Amp Effects Loop OUT (back into Amp)

gourgas tone. now will this work to clean-up my sound a little an tighten things up? Bb tuned guitar mesa boogie rectifier amps gain dined little sloppy yet boost pedals kinda make it sound mushy an poopy.
I'm not a fan of eq pedals, but this is sick.

Thank you for your concise video. I ordered minutes ago. Going to use this is conjuction with my new boss md-200 modulator. Now just looking for a quality distortion that will allow me to add clarity, boost, gain without reaching into a metal realm. I like to keep it crystalline but still rock so all notes are heard, the way it should be. Any ideas? Thanks.
I just got a distortion pedal called "dark matter". Don't let the name fool you. You can get some great light distortion and inch your way up if you wanna go balls out.

Where in chain should place this one? I have Maxon SD-9 into Empress Multidrive, these two guys really get together, but Multidrive already has three band EQ so if I just want to add some colour to my overall tone should I put this para eq at the end or at the beginning... Thanks a lot!!!

blows that terrible mxr eq out of the water the only thing that would make this the mvp (most valuable ppedal) is if it had an expression out put for q or your choice of control now that would be chase bliss status right there best pedal ive heard in a very very long time

+Stamos6669 No but the eq its so good and completely transparent that when you activate the Boost you wont notice any difference..
Actually, MXR2000 is incorrect. You can. Hold both stomps while powering up the effect. Push the boost switch to the turn independent boost on, push the on/off switch to select true or buffered bypass.
I was looking at the latest manual revision from this pedal,. And Jewdly is right.. Now seems to available on the new units.. This most be "v7".. make sure if you get one, to be the current Model coming from factory..
I think that using a Collings is cheating. A $5000 guitar will likely sound good through anything.
