This pedal just arrived, I read the manual. John from Empress emailed me something: You can also set the default state when the pedal is powered up, by holding the desired button before inserting the powered 9v DC cable. Now the pedal is automatically engaged everytime I power up my rack. Saving set up time on stage. This is the perfect always ON precision analog EQ pedal.
Absolutely worth to have. It's full analog circuit, no latency. I checked it under the spectrum analyzer , very transparent , surgical , yet musical EQ. @@MOAB-UT I can finally replicate that polished high gain tone, live.
I concur. I have been looking for more precise EQ to tame some fizz, harshness and muddyness for high gain guitar tone, without going into digital format.
I would love to see a video if this paired with the Hydrasynth or similar digital synth! Very curious as to how this EQ might warm up a digital synth to pull it into a more analog feel?
U guys are awesome! Ive been longing for a ParaEq for a long time now, but the used prices were getting to high and figured i would never get to own one. So excited for this release. Thank u so much for bringing it back! 🥹🙏 Just as a crazy thought, u guys should make a dual utility pedal thats the ParaEq DLX and the Compressor MkII in one stomp box with a toggle switch to change order and even a TRS input/output that can be used for splitting the circuits for the people that use switchers and want them independent, and/or could be used for stereo I/O. I doubt this will become a reality. just putting the idea out there. 😁 Once again thank u for bring back the ParaEq!
I just ordered one from Sweetwater. I really hope it's at good as this leads me to believe. This thing sounds Great on RUclips. I hope everyone is having a great week. Wealth and Happiness, Friends.
Sounds good. I play jazz and my pedal board is just tuner, overdrive, and reverb. I've been looking for an EQ to complete my board. Looks like this would be it.
I’ve had 2 of the big box ones and wish I hadn’t sold them…Just got a Spaceman Equinox but definitely am going to have to get one of these in the future in addition!(lol no more selling pedals…The amount of pedals I sold that are worth over 1k now are depressing😳) Great video, great pedals!
Just try it- will depend on your board. Nothing beats experimenting. Usually the comp goes 2nd. You want to clean up audible issues before you compress them- pretty standard and accepted practice.
It sits early in the board. Your guitar cable is single too so not sure your issue. It can split up into stereo later in the chain e.g., if you have a stereo reverb pedal.
Cause it is analog. SA EQ2 might be what you are looking for. It is a close 2nd to this and has presets. Less easy to edit on the fly though and this one is likely slightly quieter which is what is selling me.
Pure genius soundscape ideas. I am letting you and the world know I am stealing every one of them. Lol. Excellent video! Gonna grab the deluxe to beef up the low frequencies on my nomad 55.
@@empresseffects the Q is sufficiently narrow. I just checked with the frequency analyzer in the studio. it can replicate my EQ move I did with Fabfilter Pro Q plugin to tame harsh spikes on 2.5Khz and 4khz. Thanks empress! Now I can enjoy polished studio tone live, without latency.
How did you preorder one on the 3rd or 4th, when it states this,... "Preorders from Empress open November 16th and ship December 12th. Credit card would be charged on November 22nd. ... on their website? Going through one of their dealers??? Just curious.
@DG-ti1jb The plastic buttons on the new ones are prone to break, and the old ones have higher grade components. Empress figured out how to massively cut cost and quality yet charge the customer the same or more. All companies do this, unfortunately.
@@ushnicyuvnikof2748 Thanks. I hear you but think that most metal knobs are simply covers on top of stout plastic spines. I think they are harder to break then they might appear, but anything is possible. I have never broken one in many years...unless I step on one, but these are at least recessed and also used less than the main knobs. As an example, ALL old BOSS pedals use plastic spines and I have never read of one breaking. They are easily the most mass produced and sold pedals. For the versatility and stereo and presets, I am leaning towards the SA QE2- any thoughts on that? It is NOT Analog but still sounds great and appears to be MUCH more versatille and also much cheaper- lightly used $150 vs. $350 for the Empress! QE2 can be used in loop AND in front. Once I set up presets I should be done tweaking the thing. 8 preset options. 4 is plenty- acoustic and 3 electric. With the footswitch on the EQ2 you can toggle two different EQ's mid song which is amazing. With the better looking and easier to adjust on the fly empress, once you are locked into one EQ, that is basically it. In front of a tube amp, will either of these give me more crunch sound (from boost?) Or does that have to go in front of a dirt pedal? You seem to know a lot and I am still learning this stuff. Thanks!
@@psypsiproduction 30dB is one thousand times more intense than 0.1dB. Boosting a moderate signal by 30dB makes it extremely loud. It's also impossible to boost a signal by 30dB without leaving the noise untouched. You simply cannot ignore the signal-to-noise-ratio. A better way is to make sure that the signal is loud enough before it goes into the pedal.
I KNEW IT! I knew it! After a couple years of crazy ParaEQ prices, and the discontinuation, I knew there had to be a Mk. II coming sooner or later!

So excited for this! My video is coming in a couple days, and this is legitimately one of the best pedals I've ever tried.
Im a BIG fan of the ParaEQ. It has been a mainstay on my board for years. A must have.
I concur. I have been looking for more precise EQ to tame some fizz, harshness and muddyness for high gain guitar tone, without going into digital format.
I will buy. How do I set up the nobs for best tone- all around noon?

Finally😊! Mark me down for a deluxe.
Guys this is so good.
last time i saw godspeed you black emperor live, all guitarists had a paraeq on their board
cool

Was it worth the $350 and free candies?
How did it work out? does it live up to the hype?
Best company ever! This new pedal sounds AMAZING!!!
Great playing, amazing musicality in every phrase! Thank you :)
What to get first for bass/synth more or less ambient setup: Para Eq or Bass Comp?
Nice to see a D'Angelico, I got what looks like the same model used as-new for a silly price, and it's my go-to jazz-blueser
2:36 This was amazing, reminded me of the video game "Gris", has an amazing soundtrack as well.
Really looking forward to adding this to my arsenal
WOOOO! I have the original Paraeq. Should I get this one?

The compressor is always better before EQ?

This video sold me, ordering right now.....damnit.
Benn for president
I was hoping the MKII was true stereo
It sits early in the board. Your guitar cable is single too so not sure your issue. It can split up into stereo later in the chain e.g., if you have a stereo reverb pedal.
YO JORDAN HAS NO BUSINESS PLAYING THAT CHARANGO THAT GOOD
Before buying this I was considering the expensive analog 500 series rack EQ. This is a better alternative , as precise , more convenient and cheaper.
from a distance i thought I saw 2 bloopers
Noooo, no, no. The toggle switches are placed *above* the knobs, not just below them. Totally different!
Is it stereo :)? that would be awesome!
Sorry, just mono! Now if you want stereo, you can always buy two ;)
I get excited by pedals Benn. 😁 Still can't afford a microcosm and really want a zoia. These now have my attention 🧐
really want this but why not presets or midi? would be so useful in an EQ pedal like this!?
I'm asking for too much...?

Can we know the Q value range in this pedal? 🙏🏻
The Q values for both the MKII and MKII Deluxe go from approx. 0.5 to 3

Just ordered mine from sweetwater
Sweet jams!✨
Please please please! Do this to the tape delay!
Awesomeee!!!
inspirational video. maybe the first so far when I didn't want to hear "no talking" version
If I could only have two pedals it would be an EQ and an EQ. One in front of the amp and a second in the loop
Love it
Woooow!!!!!
Shut up and take my money! lol I just pre-ordered mine this morning.

This is not an explanation.
30dB is just way too much.
Why do you think so?
