Awesome boat and project.my 2 cents on the prod...cut a hole in the topside near the gunwale just back from the bow.Have the prod go through the hull and you can beef it all up inside.Run it on a slight angle so the end of the prod is on the centreline. This won't interfere with any if the existing structure or forestay etc.
Ive been thinking about that too Brett, i’m just wondering if there is much benefit to adding a retractable pole if I’m not racing, and therefore not worried about it on a start line? I suppose boat handling around marinas would be better with a retractable pole, and it would keep the weight out of the ends
Awsome Tom, I can't wait to see more of this new boat, My brother and I think you should put some imoca foils on it😂 Love the videos, keep them coming!❤❤❤❤
Very intriguing boat..so exiting to get a new boat and find all the little surprises on board..theres some nice gear there! As for fitting that bowspit, I'd be bending some flat alumimium (50x 2mm 0r 3mm) around a pole 180° then turning back 90° each side with a vise, to make a couple of large saddles. Like the type you use to fit copper plumbing pipe. ld make them 3mm bigger than needed so that 3mm rubber could be fitted between them and the carbon tube ( from the deck all the way around) to take away any hard stress points. Oversise holes in aluminium and nylon washers to seperate the ali from stainless fastenings through deck.( to avoid corrosion) Look forward to seeing this one cruising!
Gold! - You need to paint all your boats in "Stuchberry Gold" paint..... As to the bow sprit, what about making it pivoting by adding a small curved track on the deck?
Haha like the old Ichi Ban Farr 52 colour! I did think about the curved track idea but i think for now it might be easier to just keep it simple and then add articulation later if required

Ive been thinking the same thing, just not sure if the foils would kick in at 4-5 knots…maybe if i make them big enough!
Oh yea bro she be right😂
Can always tow it onto the foils!

Thanks Trev, thats another good idea! Ill think about that one too
Well, here we go again!! This will be interesting! Thanks Tom
Thanks Finn, i might be able to finish a race at Sugarloaf on this one 😉
@TomStuchberySailing-eg9vr that made my day! Ha ha
Thats absolutely mint!
All the best of luck in getting her ready to cruise, that bowsprit sounds like a great idea!
Thanks Matt, i’m glad you like the bowsprit idea!
oh well it’s an adventure. i love how sea worthiness is its strength. looks certainly isn’t.
The looks grow on you if you look at it for long enough 😉

Just saying but defo want a supercut of the bedroom boat build haha, thats so extreme
Maybe i could do a flashback episode of the projects pre RUclips!
the 'grab thing' is a 'lip grip' for grabbing fish by the lower jaw.
Ah, there you go! I figured it was something fish related
Sails by John Hooper. Bamboo battens from (Izzy) Prior sails.
Thanks Mick, the bamboo battens are a work of art!
Should take it to the Inverloch Classic Dinghy Regatta
Thats a good idea, or the Wooden Boat Festival!
Look at the way selden attaches their aftermarket sprits for ideas. You could probably get away with beefy hose clamps
Good idea, I’ll investigate that Rob!
U bolts mount to the top of deck, for the pole
Thats a nice simple solution, ill have to measure the OD of the pole to see what i can find!
