About Knightverse Transformers designs : The design is stylized enough so that they're not too blocky, solid enough that it wouldn't look like they can crumble to pieces just by one lucky shot, and faithful enough that they evoke the G1 feeling.
Yeah they hit the Sweet Spot.

Thats fantastic customer service and hilarious at the same time.
The SSBB Prime is also fantastic. Its a fresh new take on Optimus, feels great, and generally looks better with the other studio series figures on the shelf. That and it didn't need to come with an obligatory trailer to jack the price up more.
My studio series sideswipe came with two right blades and the same thing happened to me.
Emailed customer service, they don’t have a separate part, we’ll send you a whole new figure instead.
I guess it makes sense though.

G1 Optimus with details isn't exactly new, nor fresh.
I remember seeing Bumblebee's Oppy's face for the first time and I just instantly became happy to see it. It's these kinds of things that I love about when it comes to good character design and art style.
It was just such a relief. It was so nice to see it.

Never had a geewuner talk resonate with since my favorite Starscream is armada Starscream and when I saw the legacy leaks I got so excited don’t get me wrong the g1 designs are iconic it’s just I would love for stuff that isn’t g1 or beast wars like the unicron trilogy to get some love that’s what I grew up with and I would love their designs to get an upgrade also not a commander class

He’s definitely “Not a Commander Class” but honestly a part of me has wanted to pick up that Rodimus, just not for that price. So really hope I get this one! It’s funny when I saw the thumbnail I honestly thought you were still so annoyed with the figure you were just gonna get rid of your own one.

So they give you Rody? Man that's cool. Even though i don't really like Rody as Commander, but it never be bad to get him without wasting my money on overpriced figure.
Anyway, this SS fig is my fav G1-ish Voyager Prime. Been a long time as my desk toy, really love his design. Not really accurate with the movie design, but to me be still G1 Prime with realistic detail like G1 come to live. He poses like a boss, his gun is, badass, transform kinda complex but really fun, and his truck mode is fantastic. I know his truck mode looks more like in TF4 Truck compare to the BB one, but still sicks thou. And i even buy the Aoyi metalic VER of this fig, just because i really love it.
Yeah, when it's free Commander is so much more palatable.
And yeah I love this prime it's fantastic.

I’ve actually been getting into the G1 designs lately, mostly because I want to own as many characters as possible, and it feels like aiming for refined versions of their original designs is the best option (thanks WFC). However, for Earth modes, I’ve always been aiming for live-action designs. Thus, in my head, Siege Optimus is Optimus on Cybertron, and Bumblebee Optimus is Optimus on Earth.
I mean that's the way I see it.

I forget where I saw this, but you can work around the head-pin problem when transforming back into robot mode by opening the top panel and pushing it back, which pushes the head piece by the pin and doesn’t cause it to come off. It works great and is safe :-). BTW, I got this figure (but in Premium Finish) after your review- thank you!

As someone who grew up with the movies I’ve always had a soft spot for the movies. But let me tell you when I first saw the promo for the bee movie that showed optimus I was so full of excitement. The bee design is the perfect balance of movie and G1. This is coming from a guy who doesn’t even like G1 all that much.

Theirs a fix for the primes legs. Just add a bit of paint or glue to the leg tabs and bam. And if I win it would be great if you clean the paint off (if it’s no trouble)

“Not a Commander Class” The Bee movie was pretty bog doo doo but the design of the Transformers are amazing. Their perfick mix of bay and G1 and I love it.

Oh trust me, movie Optimus Prime was not the first Optimus to be ashamed of the faceplate. That honour goes to Transformers Cybertron's Optimus, who only donned it in his super robot mode. And after the 2007 film, more Optimuses had faces, from Animated all the way up to today. Even the aligned canon wasn't safe, as despite having a permanent faceplate in the first entry (2010's Transformers: War for Cybertron by High Moon Studios), in the very next entry (the TV show Transformers Prime) he went back to having a face-with-removable-plate.
And if you want to be specific, the ACTUAL first Optimus with a face was Optimus Primal back in the 1990s.
Optimus Primal almost NEVER had a faceplate.

Not a Commander Class
G1 Optimus has been one of those characters whose design is just too iconic that it is difficult to try and deviate from without some form of backlash. That's why I respect both the old and new live action designs (except maybe the knight version of Optimus) since they both do the Optimus design well in two very different spectrums. But I would prefer at least something different from the Generation 1 design. It's probably why I'm still attached to the Unicron Trilogy designs (Armada and Cybertron, specifically).
See I don't respect them because it doesnt take balls to do what they did, it took them not caring. They didn't care about Transformers so they didn't care if they screwed it up.

Yeah I honestly figured ROTB would change up Optimus' design due to the add ons to the truck, but the render on the binder we saw shows that the new vehicle bits just completely evaporate. But hey, the dumb random circles in the elbows are gone, and the running lights are up on his collar so while he's still a mile behind, he's a couple inches ahead of BBM Prime.
Even though he's "Not a Commander Class" the size, articulation and extra steps on Kingdom Rodimus kinda makes me reconsider the SS86 one. It's impressive in some ways but feels fragile.
SS Optimus didn't really do it for me, but I'm glad he exists for those that really wanted a movie G1 Prime. It's a cool redesign overall, especially the head.
Was it just the figure that didn't do it for you or was there more to it.
Also yeah, the 86 Hotrod feels really Chintzy compared to this.

Thanks for replying! I think it was just the figure that didn't do it for me. I was excited when I first got him, but it kind of fizzled as the weeks went on. I wasn't a huge fan of the panel transformation, so that might've been a big reason.
As for the blast effects, I'd like to say keep the paint on them, but I wanted to look at them that way before confirming. Did you show them off in one of your videos? I checked the Rodimus review and only saw them in their original black cast.

"Not a Commander class" I would really like to win that figure, in my country buying a $80 dollar figure would almost be impossible (also the shops are very limited and most of the time they double the price, I once saw a Optimus primal at $60)
Tbh honest I like the look of this figure even more than the "masterpieces" (both third party and official) I don't know why but to me most figures make him look kinda like a xenomorph wearing an oversized Optimus costume
Also I would loved if the ER figure would have taken some notes of this figure, I mean, the ER has got like massive legs without anything inside, it would be better if they make it so there was a step were you take some panels that cover the wheels or something kinda like the siege version, or instead just make them do what this figure does.

They'd better change it so 90% of the vehicle doesn't just vaporize during transformation. That's terrible transformer design and I can't believe people hark on AOE for it, but give the BeeWun designs a pass.
With the head part coming off I have the KO version and it is in fact pined on and I added paint onto it and it looks beautiful keep up the great work ❤

This figure is great and does feel like it’s trying to stretch its voyager budget to its limit. I have a feeling he’s going try and be rehashed with some very slight remolding when RoTB comes out though.

@@PerspectiveEnd From the render we saw they swapped out the random arm mush for the 1-3 arms, maintaining the shoulder and forearm. It's an improvement, but its still behind considering there's even more vehicle parts that now just vanish out of thin air.

When I got siege Prime, I was intended this figure (I was brand new to collecting okay) And long story short I still don't have him to this day, but he is. ON. MY. RADAR.

“Not a Commander Class” I actually just had to cancel my purchase of a Rodimus Prime but I have really been wanting to get one myself.
As for this figure - I LOVE THIS FIGURE. While I am a fan of Optimus having a mouth on occasion I hated the Movie Optimus’ mouth even from the ‘07 movie. But yea I can’t even argue anything is really wrong with this figure - this is what I wanted from the Movies - designs that still look like the characters but are fairly distinct too. The only odd thing is the Bot mode is based on the Cybertronian design and the Alt is his Earth alt mode but I can ignore that because this is just so perfect!

Well I come from the UT and Cybertron is my favorite show. IMO Optimus having a well designed mouth (not the Movie or Prime mouths) it’s fine to make the Mask more of a Battle Mask. Nothing against the other option, but I don’t mind it when it looks good.

The prices are already inflated with the exchange rate and import fees over here. But with Hasbro pulling this sort of stuff, I'm honestly just a little baffled sometimes with their pricing. When you transform Optimus to robot mode, the panel that's behind the head can help you move down the head if you flip that panel where the head is on the truck mode to make it easy. May show it in my channel, but it's worth noting.

Yeah, I reckon this is the ideal live action Optimus Prime, respecting the source material while suiting the aesthetic. A friend of mine whose a fan of the live action movies and Aligned said that G1 looks cringe, and that’s a fine opinion, but when I was talking about how Rise of the Beasts Prime disrespected the character of Optimus Prime, he went as far as to say the the original source material for any given franchise doesn’t matter and there will be a point in time where it will no longer matter.
I mean there will be a point where the planet is consumed by the sun, saying that in the future something will stop mattering so it doesn't matter now, is asinine.

I enjoy seeing this version of optimus prime way better than the otters, I was ok with the design of the first movies but when the version of the forth an fifth movie came I hate them so much, they were to human and they have almost no existing vehicle pieces, so seeing this new version was a relief

Man that alt mode is soooooo good! And the robot mode is what I think most of us want- instantly recognizable, yet a new creative twist.
Exactly. The movies were allowed to get away with Redesigns, Just so long as they looked like the characters AT ALL.
Btw, is it reasonable to assume that most of the animated shows model the characters after toys, but in the case of the movies the on-screen models were made first? I am really late for the review but I just wante to tell you that when transforming from truck to robot, if you lift up that top panel that uncovers the slot from the head before trying to untab the head, it will kinda self-transform and avoid a lot of trouble.

Even if I don’t get the “Not a Commander Class” Rodimus, I just wanted to say thank you for offering the chance for us to get one. I’m glad BBTS was willing to give you such good CS. I always find it difficult to work with companies or businesses when I have issues with orders. Did you take photos of your product to show you had none or was it just honor system?
Anyways, this Prime is indeed the best when it comes to faithful reimagining and movieverse detailing. I’m glad that I managed to pick mine up at a toy fair earlier and man, it has endured the southern summer heat like a champ. I’ve had mine standing in a “point to victory, gun raised in caution” pose with about the maximum amount of ankle rock you can get without tipping over, and accidentally bumping my desk with boxes hasn’t tipped the guy over even once. I guess in this guy’s case, he really was made of sterner stuff!

I bought the Aoyi Mech knockoff of this Prime, and it fixes a couple of the issues like the neck joint, which is now pinned, and the shin tabs don't pop off as easily. I really love this Optimus!
Yeah, I knew KOs would only make this figure better.
My copy of this had 2 left shoulder butterfly joints and so it affected the truck mode because one arm was more raised than the other
That's a Crazy mistake.
Also it's funny how this figure's alt mode resembles a Marmon yet his movie Vehicle is a Freightliner.
And Evasion Mode Optimus figure's alt mode is a Freightliner, but his movie version is a Marmon. (For the time he was evading, anyway.)
To be fair it was only ever implied that that truck at the end of the Movie MIGHT have been Optimus.
@@PerspectiveEnd Though it would he weird for it to not ACTUALLY be Optimus if it weren't so specifically picked out to look like him. RotB Optimus will still be a Freightliner, looking much like the one in BB Movie, just with different sun visors and a bull bar.

"Not a Commander Class" Transformers shopping has been very annoying the past year or so. Whenever I go to a store they either have nothing or figures that no one wants. I've been searching for the Rodimus and I still haven't found one. I did find the Kingdom Galvatron though but that's the best figure I've found in a store for the past couple months. @@PerspectiveEnd Oh yeah if I win could you remove the paint from the exhaust effects. The glossy black paint just looks dumb to be completely honest. They should have just made them transparent blue to begin with or made them like a transparent black to look more like smoke/exhaust.

I know this video was a year ago but I wanna say while I enjoy the Bayverse design I kinda pretended to hate this one because “Ugh G1 AGAIN!” And then I watched Drlockdowns video and ye I gotta say yeah it is a love letter for all of Transformers

This year i got a job and was able to afford the premium finish version, i love him to death
This last saturday my father passed away and was never able to see me unbox the figure from my live stream,
Im truly thankful for all he has done, as he has supported me from day 1, this figure means so much more to me now

This is one of my favorite looking optimus figures, but at the time I had to decide between him and the seige figure, ended up with the latter.

Rodimus is definitely "Not a Commander Class" at all.
As for the Earthrise Prime, I agree 100%. This feels like a great melding of the movie style and the G1 Prime look. There's no possible way to mistake who the character is by looking at them, but it has all of the techno-greebly bits that make the movie figures so fascinating to look at. All of the mold detail that you can just get lost in. Very impressive looking. Plus the fact that it squashes down into an impressive looking box-cab. Just beautiful! Hell, give this thing working hands and some more accessories and it's BETTER than some of the Masterpiece figures they've put out over the past few years.
This thing is better than the Masterpeice of the Bumblebee Movie Optimus which is hillarious.

Movie style wasn't just details. Movie designs were made from an inner skeleton out, with consideration for where the vehicle parts go, consideration for how the body would move and articulate, and making armored sections look flexible while maintaining unorthodox shapes to keep it from looking man made. BBM style is taking a G1 design, slapping randomized detail in a few areas that doesn't have any visual purpose and more so looks like it's a design flaw with some of the placements, and a heaving ammount of random circles that are literally in the way of things most of the time. Oh, and we can't forget to render every single face in a different design style. Optimus has big lightbulb eyes and his randomly flapping face mask, Bumblebee has his movie face, Wheeljack's mask is his face, Ironhide and Ratchet have completely flat and smooth TFP faces without descernable noses or lips, Arcee has a human face made out of metal panels like the AOE designs, Brawn just has a shit load of random detail that isn't even descernable as a face, Soundwave has a solid unmoving face even though prime has a flapping mouth plate like the cartoon, Shockwave has his normal face stretched to be a mile wide, Starscream has a weird gremlin number going on, and every seeker has a gas mask that moves when they talk because the rig for Blitzwing's head came from 07 Starscream.

I really like this rodimus, he looks sick. As for the studio series Optimus, I was lucky enough to get him the day it was set for release, found it at a WALMART of all places. Also, at target a couple of weeks ago I went and found the studio series hot rod and I checked the price and it was being marked as the kingdom rodimus…weird right? I didn’t buy it cuz I thought it was insanely dumb that those two figures got mixed up considering the first thing that came up was the incredibly different package shots.
That's nuts that it was marked up like that, you probably could have gotten them to give you the correct price if you brought it to their attention.
And I too found the Optimus at walmart actually before it was Supposed to release. It wasn't even in their system yet.
