I think most of them enjoyed being Bond except for Connery mainly due to his dislike of Broccoli and Saltzman. Moore was going to only do 4 films but decided to do a 5th and then was pulled back in for a 6th and decided to one more. Dalton wanted to bring back the Bond of the books and enjoyed playing Bond and doing many of the stunts. And of course Pierce had been a fan of Bond since he saw Goldfinger when he was younger.
Roger Moore was like that too. If you see interviews with him at that time he's just like the character you see on screen. Jeez-these guys get a fortune for just being themselves lol 😁
It was prescient in a sense, yes. In 1997 the internet was still mostly a fun place for nerds and weirdos rather than the place where everyone was glued to their phones consuming steady diet of bullshi-- and screaming at each other on twitter/faceache. So, I think the same script would look a bit different today, and Carver probably would have looked more like Mark Zuckerberg than the younger Rupert Muroch as they styled him as. But certainly in the broad strokes it's not so much of a stretch, a story about a powerful news channel being used manipulate world events and start a war for Fun and Profit. These days, its social media & algorithm-driven propaganda and outrage-mongering for hateclicks, but for a simplified story-narrative version of the concept, TND works surprisingly well in hindsight.
It must have been great to be Bond in 90th. Daniel Craig is great but it was with this man, Pierce Brosnan, where the series gained the the real fresh start!!
Pierce was my generation's bond. And certainly in my top 3 bond actors. I thought he brought a well rounded james bond. And for my money, he looks the best in the tux of all the actors 👌
You've got to remember just how many of these interviews film stars give. It's very difficult for them not to sound bored, frustrated, etc. They're asked the same questions time and again. Dalton didn't get involved in the TV promotional circuit for 'The Living Daylights' and John Rhys Davies thought that was a big mistake. But you can understand Dalton not wanting to do the same thing dozens of times.
@eating sugar no papa I don't think you have read the books. I know you hate Dalton, but he's arguably the most faithful to them. Brosnan has the understanding of Bond that a twelve-year-old has: he wants to be cool.
@eating sugar no papa You are in a tiny minority to think that Brosnan is closer to Fleming's Bond than Dalton. I just disagree. Fleming's Bond has a certain world-wearyness about him; his professionalism hides a romantic soul. Dalton brought that out perfectly. Brosnan was underserved. He should have gotten better films.
@eating sugar no papa No, that is just incorrect. Even if you believe Brosnan is better than Dalton, then Dalton is still closer to the books. Really, almost everyone would agree to that.
I was thinking to do this uninterrupted interview with all the amazing replies that Piarce gave puts him a very high I Q bracket,he's very very clever, what a Bond, what a man,
this is a great interview much more interesing questions than the usual promo stuff. and very candid answers from the Broz. especially the Q about Kevin McClory and the 90s rival Bond film. thats the first ive ever heard Brosnan approached McClory just after LtK and i consider myself abit of a Bond connoisseur reading all the bts books, watching the docs etc
Dalton always gets under mentioned because he only did two and they didn't do great at the box office. He's my all time favourite Bond though. He was just ahead of his time
wish he had done just one more for 2004 (with Craig still on for CR in 06).. a more dark/serious movie to go out on than the Moonraker-esque caper of DAD.

Is it me or Pierce wasn't exactly in a good mood in this interview. Sure he was very polite and made a few jokes here and there but I've seen him in a better mood in interviews
My understanding is that he was distracted. It was sort of a prank this one that went awry. The chair with the fabric matching his eyes. The insider questions and wedding bouquet looking flowers. The questions were personal because he used head and shoulders shampoo etc… some inside info… etc… he was having a relationship with a woman who was African-American and Irish and completely freaked out that the media knew. He asked her to marry him but was still in a relationship with Keely his now wife and mother of his youngest two sons. He had a panic attack when it was all over.
Pierce Brosnan and his fans shouldn't be upset with Timothy Dalton because Brosnan didn't become James Bond in the late 80's, NBC was the one who stopped him from taking the role, plus he got a second chance and made 4 movies and the Timothy Dalton, only 2.
@@MichaelCorleone654 No you’re on Crack, Die Another Day is one of my favourite Bond Films and you need to learn that other people have different opinions and Goldeneye is extremely dark in every way compared to Die Another Day and Die Another Day is the best Brosnan Bond film end of. I love all Brosnan’s Bond Films but to me Die Another Day is by far the best.
So much uninterrupted and effortless zest just oozing out of every Celtic pore. The Broccolis were selfish, dishonest pricks for not letting him stay on for a fifth movie. Cubby had his eye on Brosnan since the Remington Steele days and put a lot of well-placed trust in him to carry the franchise into the new Millennium. The elder Broccoli would have been disgusted to say the least. The story arc that was developed into the video game Everything Or Nothing should have been Brosnan's fifth movie. If that had done well at the box office, it would not have hurt to allow him finish up with Casino Royale
Rampage Clover Pierce would be way too old for a 5º film, he would be 51. And the series needed to go on a different direction, a more realistic and gritty direction. The Brosnan era was always over the top, it wouldn't work out if after 4 over the top films a older Pierce Brosnan did a serious and realistic Bond film and then end his run has Bond.
“The production values were a lot better than goldeneye” bro I know it’s probably in the direction but outside of special effects shit Goldeneye looks much better than Tomorrow Never Dies.
Dalton is still a better bond than Brosnan in terms of acting ability. Brosnan is right about one thing Dalton lacked humor which made License to kill a failure in the U.S while The Living Daylights performed excellently worldwide and audiences & Hollywood in general didn’t give Dalton a fair try as bond. If Dalton did 3 films then probably everyone would accept him as bond. Out of all of Brosnan 4 movies, only GoldenEye is amazing and is a classic. The rest were fucking appalling especially Die Another Day. Dalton to me is the 3rd best bond and I really enjoyed his take on the more serious approach 🙌🏾🔥

Lol 😂🤣. That's like blowing a stinky fart and telling nearby people that it doesn't stink. Die Another Day is a sad disaster that lead to another sad disaster we have now with Bond. The first half of DAD was actually really good. Once the movie moved to the ice Castle it was all over. The digital shit and especially that parachute scene with the waves just completely ruined the movie for me. Then the finale on the plane and Bond gets electrocuted.
