Had the privilege of helping him at an Apple Store with his iPhone. Came before we opened to avoid crowds and he was nothing but friendly. Posed for pics, didn’t take himself too seriously, just wanted to be treated like any other customer but knew people wanted to meet him. A production assistant had driven him to the mall and he was chatting with him like they were old friends.

What I always liked about his character in 'Mrs. Doubtfire', was that he was effectively a love rival but he wasn't a villain. On the contrary, he was a good man and in a time where such characters were usually depicted as being underhanded, hateful and deceitful; he was a breath of fresh air.
I agree, but he did call Robin Williams a loser at the swimming pool which made the lime to the head justifiable lol.

@@goodbadbill The lime to the head wasn't justifiable, but it was hilarious. I used to throw fruit at my friends in high school and exploded an apple on someone's head. It was pretty funny and everyone laughed.... except for my 'friend,' lol

Pierce Brosnan is up there with people like Brendan Fraser who brought such a wholesomeness to the characters yet the action hero of the '80s. It was such a beautiful mix in the 90s for people like them

@@33Dannyb A scientifically accurate disaster movie would have to limit itself to what is plausible in real life. In other words: it wouldn't be very exciting. All the good disaster movies are the ones that puts reality aside for a moment and takes you on a thrilling adventure in which anything is possible. Dante's Peak is most definitely one of those movies.

GQ dropped the ball big time with this featurette. Remington Steele should have been featured first, as it introduced the entire world to Brosnan, and almost immediately fans were clamouring for him as Bond.
I could see a mid-30s, younger Brosnan in The Living Daylights and License to Kill.

Wishing for repeats of Remington Steele
I totally agree. But I remember first seeing him in the mini-series Manions of America. He played Rory O’Manion. There was an immediate fan club created. A very small handful of my friends saw the mini-series and Pierce was seared into our brains. The next year we heard about Remington Steele happening. We told all our friends to watch it because he was going to be in it. “Who’s Pierce Brosnan?”, they asked. Nobody else knew who we were talking about. Well, the world would definitely find out in Remington Steele. It really put him on the map. But I still feel it was Manions of America that introduced him to America, which made everyone see what was possible with this man. But nobody talks about Manions of America.
I forgot how incredibly handsome he was and still is. Class Act and good human.

Pierce will always be my favorite James Bond. I don’t care how many times that character is portrayed, he will ALWAYS be Bond to me.
Most peoples favourite depends on their age when they see it. All James Bonds have to overcome the fact that they look like Hollywood actors, which is tough acting in itself. I thought Timothy Dalton had the best run because both his films were good and thats him, out. But he REALLY looked like a hollywood actor. Connery had some classics, then 'Never Say Never Again' kind of made him a mockery of the role. Roger had some success for the time, but then went way over the top. Octopussy was about the most 'down to earth', but then with a name like that, thats tough to be taken seriously. I thought Brosnans were also kind of over the top theme wise. Not his fault, it was the nineties, they just didn't know how to create villains. He had some meaty scenes, like when he is captured by the Koreans, but they were in transition with Cleese playing an M, they just didn't know what the heck to do. Craig came in just at the right time for that kind of series. It had problems but Skyfall was definitely one of hte best. They went so silly with the womens names that it was always hard to take them very seriously. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is still about the best series out there.
@@mikearchibald744 I'm only 16 but i grew up watching lot of james bond movies and i have always thought that the ones with daniel craig arent that good for some reason. I just somehow prefer Pierce brosnan, sean connory and roger moore, its more iconic. Maybe i just dont like modern action
He is my favourite bond as well. It is mostly because Goldeneye was such an important part of my childhood for the movie and video game. As a child, I watched all of the James Bond movies numerous times. All the bonds bring some different takes that make them unique.

Pierce was excellent as the smooth talking slick ladies man's, but like he said he wasn't as physical like Craig. Pierces bond didn't feel like a killer spy, Craig's didn't feel like a smooth talker. Someone who could do both would be perfect

Golden Eye was an absolute master piece, it was tense, exhilirating and entirely unique. The N64 game was perfect as well, so Im glad that this movie is above and beyond debate anyways.
Really is such an underrated Bond film. Had the best element of every 90s action flick. Tomorrow Never Dies was great as well just on having Michelle Yeoh in it.

I've worked 3 shoots with him [1 commercial; 2 stills]. He's that guy, right there in the video. And by guy, I mean ALL the respect. He's just so chill. And has a presence but without attitude. 16+ years of jobs with many famous people... he's one of the nicest.

No mention of Remington Steele? As a young boy, this is the role of his that is nearest and dearest to my heart. He brought a combination of charm, brashness, vulnerability, and a hint of loneliness to the character that resonated with me. To this day I give title, studio, and release date when referencing a movie. A great, underrated actor.

Pierce was my first Bond and he's hugely underrated in the role. Both humorous and dangerous, he understood the character but never really got the chance to shine the way Daniel Craig did. He also comes across as a friendly, warm man who obviously loves what he does. And how lovely that he chose to play Sam Carmichael because his stepdad was called Carmichael.
He's much better than Daniel Craig in the role.

Agree 100%, the writing was not top tier for all of his movies. However, he as Bond was my introduction to the character and he embodies all parts of our favorite secret agent. Dangerous with a light hearted attitude, love the movies still.

Pierce Brosnan is iconic! GoldenEye is one of the best Bond movies, they were all enjoyable with a variety of action setpieces. Dante's Peak is one of the best disaster movies too. An underrated or forgotten movie he was also in is Butterfly On A Wheel which also starred Gerard Butler. I remember Brosnan being a terrifying psycho in that movie.

Goldeneye is a masterpiece even if critics will never label it that way, its sad that some people dont see the magic that it brings, too bad for them.
I remember a time when any film directed by Martin Campbell would actively promote that it was directed by “the director of Goldeneye”
I've never looked, had no idea it was not seen as anything but a masterpiece. That's a shame because to me it is still the best. Like I said in my comment, I hate his movies got so stupid toward the end of his run because he will always be my favorite bond and he was so wasted as Bond after Goldeneye.

Brosnan is my absolute favourite James Bond, even if the plots of a couple of the films weren’t stellar, he always nailed the character in a way that made you want to be James Bond.
Will always be my 007, him and Roger Moore, they had the style, the class and the one liners, while holding it down when needed. Don't care if they weren't the closest to the original book's character, they are how i imagined Bond would be in real life. Goldeneye is by far my favorite Bond's movie.

Can’t help but love and respect how humble this man is! He’s one of the best Bond’s ever and I’ve watched Dante’s Peak so many times! It’s right up there with Twister as my favorite disaster. Brilliantly done! And of course, you can’t forget his supporting role in Mrs. Doubtfire! This man did a movie with Robin Williams! He was also great in The Foreigner with Jackie Chan!
His first stint as Bond was immediately a classic, Goldeneye is still (IMO) one of the best 007 movies fromt he entire series.

@@hannibalb8276 totally agree with this, I love Goldfinger. Martin Campbell has some questionable films in repertoire, but the man perfectly reinvented Bond twice (first Goleneye, then Casino Royale), and that takes an amazing amount of skill
His impression of Robin Williams is just amazing.
I was shocked by that. I was randomly listening to this while cleaning the house, as suddenly the voice of Doubtfire AND Robin could be heard. It was so spot on, I had to grab my phone to see if it really was Brosnan doing the voice or if it was a clip they intersected into the video.

I honestly love this man. Not only for the great roles he has played, but the way he loved his wife that passed away, and the way he loves his wife Keely now.
His daughter passed away too, of ovarian cancer just like his first wife, in 2013. Unfortunately in the intervening 30 years they couldn't develop any treatment to beat such a deadly disease :(
He never went 'Hollywood' and never allowed his fame to go to his head. He always stayed grounded and I think his love for his family had a lot to do with that.

Pierce Brosnan is the Bond of my Generation and, to be honest, the best one in my opinion (and I watched all of the Bond Movies). Even I liked him in Dantes Peak, in the golden age of the 90s with Twister, Volcano, Armageddon and Independence Day.

Remington Steele showcased Stephanie and Pierce's acting range episode after episode. The show had everything. Action, comedy, drama, suspense, mystery, romance, etc. Really sad that it's a forgotten tv show.

I'm right with you on that. It was an excellent remake, one of the few that I can watch without even thinking of the original.
Remakes can be great. The Ocean's series is basically a remake as well.

Met Pierce in Malibu 4 years ago and he was THE nicest and most gracious, humble celebrity I have EVER met and I've met a lot of them.

Actually, Pierce brought a lot of physicality back to Bond in Goldeneye - that hand/hand fight with Trevalyan near the end was the wildest Bond had been in decades!
One of my favourite Brosnan movies was the Tailor of Panama. A friend once commented that Pierce has never been in anything crap, which is quite a compliment. I've come to really appreciate Pierce Brosnan's acting - if I see his name on it, I know it will be entertaining.

I've just stumbled on a seldom seen movie called Seraphim Falls that moved me a lot. Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson give deep and powerful performances.
Dante’s Peak is an absolute fun 90s disaster movie with great special effects and probably the second most well known movie of Linda Hamilton 😂. It’s just a fun flick
It's one of the few geological disaster movies I can stomach, having been trained as a geologist LOL It's all Hollywood BS, but at least there's a nod to reality heh

One of the things you can noticed throughout the entire interviews is how much he respect his peers and the love he has for acting, he loves it so much that he gives meaning and try to understand the character so he can portray them better and understand how to react. The way he express himself you can just listen to him talk all day and not get bored!!!

Pierce is my favourite bond grew up watching his bond films and playing the games. Pierce Brosnan will always be the real bond to me.
Growing up in the 90's, I thought he played a phenomenal Bond. He will always be my personal favorite. Although Goldeneye may not be considered amongst the top films in the Bond franchise... the video game adaptation of the film is of legendary status in the gaming industry. Thank you, Pierce

I consider Goldeneye the best Bond movie with Casino Royale a close second. I just feel Goldeneye and Pierce capture the complete and best aspects of what Bond is and should be.

Underrated makes no sense. Dude has been in so many movies and just about everyone that isn't a teen now knows him. If people dislike him sure, but that isn't the case.
I admire him so much. He's such a great actor. It doesn't matter what he is doing, if it's the main character or just a small part, he always deliveries everything he has. It is just amazing!
I love that he's honest about which films he really got something deeper out of and which ones he's like "I remember the paycheck" and "I liked that I got to fish a lot...beautiful scenery"!
Been a massive Pierce Brosnan fan since Remington Steele and have watched almost all his movies. He’s had a lot of heartache in his life, so it’s nice to see him getting some of the recognition he deserves.
I cannot believe no one asked him about Remington Steele while filming this.

I miss Pierce Brosnan as 007. He is the best Bond in my opinion. But it is nice to see himself as a humble, down to earth guy about everything he did.

'The Ghost Writer' truly is a masterpiece in my opinion. The way you get drawn into the story, the mystery and the end the suspense. And probably closer to reality than one initially perceives.

I remember in the Thomas Crowne Affair DVD commentary, John McTiernan (i assume) said about one of the first shots: Pierce walked into the office scene where he does/doesn't have his briefcase blah blah... but wanted to do it again. And McTiernan was blown away about how Pierce stopped, thought a moment, and then they did the take again, and it was an entirely different person walking into scene. He was able to just transform himself into Crowne just by the way he walked. As an early teen, hearing and seeing that, it made me realize just how much actors do to become the character. It's not all just handed to them and they do what is written down.
In 1982, "Remington Steele" debuted. I was a teenage girl and couldn't believe the stunner appearing on my TV screen. ❤️ Been that way ever since. 🥳

I love Pierce Brosnan. I’ve got all his movies on dvd, even the Remington Steele series and the Manions of America on my computer. I’ve visited the places in Ireland related to him: the street St. Finian’s Terrace in Navan where he was born, the Monastery in the Manions of America, Ashford Castle (now a 5 star hotel) where his wedding was celebrated and which castle he inherited in Remington Steele… he signed the picture of himself that I took with me to the premiere of the movie The November man that he attended on the red carpet in Oostende in Belgium with Beau St. Claire. It’s framed and hangs on my living room wall. He is such a humble, gentle and good looking man who’s been through some really tough times. He’d almost lost his son in a car crash. In an interview he revealed that he had to think twice of taking the role of a father who loses his son in a car accident in the movie The Greatest. And also his first wife Cassandra Harris, her daughter Charlotte (his step daughter) and Beau St. Claire… all three died of ovarian cancer. Yet he carried on making movies and carried on with his life.
But I think that over all the years that have passed he (still!) is the absolute number 1 for wearing a suit. They’re made for his physique and he looks extremely handsome in them!
