  • Liu Jingru is a well-known older generation Cheng style Bagua Zhang practitioner from Beijing. This documentary was compiled in 2014 and I have fully subtitled it and dubbed parts of it, as well as added relevant info for the international community to enjoy. I will be releasing it in three parts.
In part two, Liu Jingru discusses his training history, his participation in a competition in 1963 where he became the Bagua Zhang champion as well as the difficulties in the late 60's and early 70's.
(This type of work is demanding and time consuming, and I appreciate any and all support on my Patreon to enable me to continue doing this.)

Let’s not forget Bajiquan which is an internal and external style similar to Taichi chuan in many ways and blends beautifully with Piquazhang and Baguazhang.

In the late 60s , during the chaos of the cultural revolution, public training was problematic, most trained in private or secretly. This lasted for a couple of years. This is what he is mentioning in the video here.

Fascinating. It's great that he was open-minded enough to study the other styles.

Being used to your own narration, as in you writing/deciding what you will say (for example, that of your Gong Fu Explained series), your narration sounds a tad weird, here, as it's not your own. I find myself wanting to hear your own words instead of those of another. I guess you've ended up creating a voice of your own.
