Just a reminder this guy produced the whole Dr. Octagon album. Have a nice day!
Didn't prince paul do some as well? Like blue flowers or something?
deltron 3030 too which in my opinion is by far one of the best hip hop records ever. Shit, I listen to all kinds of music and I'd say its one of the best concept albums out of any genre of music. And yeah Dr Octagon is amazing too.
@@0oidiedinatimemachineo024 I agree, Deltron 3030 is a masterpiece.
No, kurtmaster kurt did 2 songs
He produced clint eastwood by gorillaz, genius production
the Quentin Tarrantino of producers
ListenJus word.
hah was going to say the same thing. for some reason he reminded me of a cross between Elvis and Tarantino
Bullseye 🎯
Yeah right !
it has been said tarrantino is the hiphopper of filmmakers.sampling other peoples movies...and a defender of polanski.dodgy geezer
This man is a genuine genius. 3030 and modeling school are the greatest conceptual albums of all time.
true legend for octagon alone. best episode of crate diggers yet. would be cool to see episodes on Geoff barrow, dj shadow, George evelyn, and the dudes of lilacs & champagne.
Honestly the best selection of music I've ever seen on one of these, feel privileged to have been offered up so many great tracks. Thanks.
Long awaited! Automator is your favorite producers favorite producer.
Hey! That's J Dilla's title!!
But that would mean I'm my own favorite producer.
Dan the Automator is definitely my favorite producer of music. I'm sure there are others out there I would enjoy just as much but he's stands alone to me. Good interview too. :D
My dream date just changed to taking Dan to Hooters in Texas.
I found this guy on the internet today, and learned that he had a part in making some of my favorite music. Learn something all the time. DJ Shadow is so important to me.
I would have to put The Winston's "Amen Brother" in that frame as well. Entire genres of music have been made using that break!
Music Power allll junglist
i was expecting to see that from the getgo in all honesty'
I have one framed in my lab
......Amen Brother is the most sampled song of all time.........
there's a book by Raph which is photography of home studios and Dan's happens to be one of them, the title of the book is "Behind the Beat".
Dan is such a chill dude! "Last Night Changed It All" is on the Q-Bert Style Warz tape for a bit haha I'm surprised he held up something I'd recognize!
Freaggin time! Joking...appreciate your efforts Fuse.
WOAH. That Lafayette record though, I love me that album.
Love his production work!
BLUE FLOWERS!!!!!! IT'S Raining Yellow!
That’s so cool how Dan was talking about the benefits of vinyl because yesterday I was trying to convince my friend to by her son a record player who is 13 and just discovering sampling and a lot of other music related things. Also he’s a drummer. Anyway I was mentioning how the art is much easier to check out and that it feels more like the beat is in your hand so it’s easier to find little sections of music to record for sampling. I mean that’s a pretty common reason someone would recommend vinyl over digital that I mentioned but it’s just the timing that’s really cool because yesterday I mention it and today I find a video of “Dan the Automater” mentioning it as well. I have been listening to Deltron3030 more lately, especially since I realized it has literally been years since I have listened to the whole album. I listened to it in Sf just out of random one day and now I have started all over again and I was so happy to find this video.
I got out on to Dan through videogames. Tony hawk's underground had a couple deltron tracks and I was instantly hooked
I still have Dan's tapes from KPOO in san francisco
legend
really great episode fuse!
Top 5 hip hop producer for this kid
Dan's obsession with going to Hooters is adorable.
Automator defy the laws of nature.
It's funny alot of records he felt many never saw, were common on the East Coast back in the days.
LEGEND.
12:43 I believe he's talking about Groovetime Records which is in San Bernardino not Riverside, on Baseline st.
🤯... BERDO since '92 ✌️
I'm pretty sure it's closed down now tho. I used to go there and then go across the street to a used book store called Art's Book Store, which is also closed down.
six copys in one spot , wow
yeah ,remember having to judge a record by its cover.. i didnt know about ultramagnetic mcs cos i'm a middle class white boy from uk..one day i was stoned in the record store and picked up dr octogon and i knew it was going to be exactly what i wanted
I have an original "Rock In The Rocket" 12 inch single, and it plays in 33 RPM. It's a US pressing.
Legend

Endtroducing 1996
Nah he do the edit mixing stuff, the hard stuff !
Is just me or does he have a minimoog sitting next to his prophet 10? Color me jealous..
What is the name of the record you see on the shelf at the end? Looks like a guy with swords as arms.
+mondola three the hard way soundtrack by the impressions
same question here... !
the one at 14.30 ... not the impressions one..
Not that it matters now. It's Kid Dynamite with the Uphill Peace of Mind break on it.
I want to collect records but I don't have a parent's house to have them in 😢
Dr. Octagonacologist!
No mention of kool Keith?
He reminds me of Tarantino except records not movies.
Q-Berk and Mixmaschta Meike
Hey what is the track at 15:00, would be massively appreciated.
Dan The Name-Droperator
You should see his "What's in my Bag" haha, one of the best and worst episodes simultaneously between Del and him
Does he have anything to do with DJ Shadow? He mentioned Pre-emptive strike and entroducing... ?
Yes, he do the hard work side of thoses timeless classics ! Editing, mixing...
The Honeydrippers from 1973? I thought that was Robert Plant's band from the 80's?
Right? Same thought.
The Honey Drippers, a soul band, led by Roy C, that recorded the 1973 song "Impeach the President"
