I applaud Dacia for coming up with the Spring. Thus far, euro manufacturers have concentrated on building heavy, extremely fast and very expensive models aimed at the wealthy/business users. If they want private users to embrace the electric car they need to focus on efficiency and produce products at retail prices your average joe like me is prepared to pay. The Spring may be a bit too cheap and cheerful for some but the principle is spot on. I dont want or need a two and a half ton missile that will do 0 to 60 in 3 seconds.

It obviously doesn't fail, when so many are buying it.
The car is a very good city car. You don't have the relatively high fuel consumption for city-driving, but rather a very energy-efficent small electric motor. You can charge it using electricity that definitely is cheaper than fuel, and you have no problems getting into tight parking spaces.
The car produces way less noise pollution than any ICE car, and you don't have any local gas emissions, which is a very good aspect.
Yes, it is very low quality and cheaped out on every corner, but for a majority of people, that's alright. They need something that gets them from point A to point B, and that as cheap, easy and reliably as possible.

The Dacia Spring is that car but new and electric. Great for short trips around town and just outside of it and it can't get much cheaper. It is light for an EV and pretty efficient, and as noted in the video, because it already quite cheap, depreciation is in real terms, very very low (unlike those German overpriced premium cars/EVs Mat loves so much!). And every single element of the car wears down, so you will have to spend more on maintenance and repairs, especially as they are bound to be more expensive for the expensive cars. Where I'm from (Switzerland) you don't just buy any random used car, but you check it thoroughly at what garage the owner bought the car, if he's the first owner, what he is like and most importantly if all the government checks were done and if the regular service has been done at a trusted dealership and if the service book is filled out properly. Ye the difference in South Africa it’s not an EV. Not that it matters because you’d hardly ever have electricity to charge one. I’m an X South African, got sick and tired of the no electricity and no water situation. So I left it far far behind.

I have multiple cars but because of springs compactness and spaciousness I will chose it for city drives and for groceries over my 7 seater suv

For daily chores you don’t need anything more.. only reason ev1 would not succeed is seating position/ was not a “suv”… 1 year old renault is quite good suggestion

The most important thing is that it can take you from point A to point B.
