I love foot patrols but when a grade 1 comes in, we need to go, and it's no use if the car is a mile or two away. If we drive we can cover 10x the streets we can on foot. I live in the Durham area/around Hartlepool and I have to say there is not a lot of anti-social behaviour (such as the guy taking a dump in his hand and throwing it on the ground for example). I have been visiting there for at least 3 years now considering I go to college part time there studying I.T. and through my life I have met more good than bad. I am surprised how many people they've captured doing bad things which could've happened anywhere within the U.K and they're shifting the blame onto the North East. In all my life, I have not experienced one problem in Hartlepool. Maybe call me lucky, but I think BBC is just shifting on the blame to our areas.

When was the last time an officer in the UK died in the line of duty? It very rarely happens.
Apart from that I agree totally that the police do a difficult job and should be funded much more. There needs to be more funding for prisons and mental health facilities too, it all goes together.

You can garantee that austerity will NOT be coming to an end despite what politicians say, the police have been cut across the UK but you can bet damn sure that police haven't been cut in areas that politicians live. Here in Boston in Lincolnshire there's virtually no law either, you have people urinating in the streets in broad daylight while people walk past, people sitting about on benches drinking lager and doing drugs in the day and evening, people absolutely flying on their cycles on pavements where there are no bike lanes. You have people driving down one way streets to take short cuts, people walking about in town in daytime smoking Cannabis openly, people assaulting and raping and nothing is ever done. The police tell you to ring 101 and then you're on the phone to them and never get through, I Googled it and saw that 101 staff are admitting they've been orderd by the government to leave 101 callers in the qeue for hours in the hope they hang up. Police I see in the news and also here are advising people to investigate their own crimes against them and told by police to be vigilant. They say because of budget cuts if you're the victim of a crime you're unfortunately on your own. Police here in Boston in Lincolnshire even told me to my face that unless it's a very serious crime like murder they don't get involved anymore.

Wether you hate or love the police they are here for everyone and in my opinion are the driving force of a nation. Just compare to other nations around the world. If anything the government should support them more. UK police has always been a notch above others and it should remain like that.

I’m disgusted by my own town 😒 the amount of times I’ve had my own home broken into. I saw my house in this too 😐. The police said that they would investigate my B&E at home but they didn’t do anything about it. There’s been stabbing a AT THE HEADLAND CARNIVAL. CHILDREN HAD TO WATCH A GUY BE STABBED BE STABBED TO DEATH. Honestly disgusted the children are also disgusting here. I was assaulted and bullied many times as a child. My town seems it needs a wake up call. There’s like 7 fire stations just in my local area because of all the arsonists I believe. God help this backwards town.

Why politicians are not accountable for budget cuts in social services and police. Why not ask them directly and show them these evidence of reality. Who is going to question if not media??? Show it to the local representative of that area and ask if they think it is alright... ask for a change a practical solution..
