This is great! I’m 62 and a retired teacher and trying to figure out the same things as you are. I too have discovered that I love love love making scrappy quilts. There are no rules and nothing has to match. I love that. Please do make some quilting videos. I will definitely subscribe and watch!
Good luck on your new adventure. From what I hear you will love your new machine. I do my quilting on an old singer 301A machine and I like being able to do all of it, piecing, and quilting.
@@barryquilts, You will be surprised at how many men quilt, you tub will be your go to, and your local quilt shop will also be very helpful. Good luck and enjoy
@@elainekindred9266 my 301a is my favorite! I just love the true stitch it gives every time. I have a love for the vintage Singers and I have several. I’ve never tried quilting on my 301, just piecing my quilts. Would appreciate any advice.
Learning to quilt was of my bucket list for when I retired. Well, that was 11 years ago and that’s as far as I’ve gotten with my bucket:). I’ve made quilts for all my children, grandchildren, other family members and my dog. It’s a wonderful way to exercise your creativity. One warning though, resist the temptation to buy fabric you don’t have a project in mind to use it on. I have so much more fabric than I can possibly use in this lifetime. And creating quilts produces “scraps” that are too big to throw away so your fabric produces more fabric. I do enjoy looking a my “stash” but if I had it to do over, I would buy less and quilt more. Have fun.
Thank you for that tip. I have 2 quilts that I want to do. The first one is just going to be a simple 9 patch half square triangles. The second one I want to do is an Ohio Star Quilt.
There are some awesome teachers on you tube. One if the best is Donna Jordan, Terry Rowland, Tiffany Graff at Tiffany's quilting life , Kate at the Last Homely House, and we can't leave out The Quilting Marine, He and his Wife are so much fun.
You make me nervous with that rotary cutter. Fiddle with a pen instead. 😅 And you can make hqt with squares. So easy. Took me 10 years to discover that. We learn something new about quilting all the time.
First of, the only rule in patchwork/quilting is, there are no rules. Secondly. it is not always possible to press to the dark side and it will not make the sky fall in if you have to press to the light side. You've chosen a wonderful way of being creative and if you enjoy it only half as much as I do, youll be having a lot of fun. One bit of advice if I may, there are a lot of quilt groups on the internet and if I were you, I would join a few. Not only are they often inspiring with the posts of their work, but they usually give great advice when you have a problem or question. Good luck Barry.
I’m 48 and started quilting in May. I started with a Brother but was gifted a 1960’s Kenmore. It’s a BEAST and I love it. My next project is going to be a rag quilt.
@ it really is! The machine had been in a basement for 20+ years and was on its way to Goodwill when I snagged it. All I did was clean and oil it and everything works perfectly. It’s crazy to see the difference between that machine and my new Brothers. Just the difference between the plastic and metal parts is profound. Happy quilting!
My graduation gift in 1969 was a Kenmore in a cabinet that I eventually gave away in the 1990s when I hadn’t used it for too long. I regret letting it go.
Steph, what is the model of your old Kenmore? My first machine 45 years ago was a Kenmore but by then they were not the robust machine they had been...I really battled that monster and once I had more disposable income I upgraded, love Juki and Bernina machines!
Wooooo Hoooo! Go Barry! A Juki! WOW! A great machine! I have several vintage machines, including 3 treadles. They are fun! Congratulations on beginning to quilt! May your bobbin always be FULL!❤🎉🎉

You will LOVE your Juki! I bought mine 8 years ago. Great choice! I grew up sewing clothes, but when I discovered quilting, I was hooked. The creative options are limitless, which makes it constantly interesting.
Thank you and I know I will. I just learned about the left composating foot for binding. Now I want one lol I’m discovering the like you that the options are endless too.
Congratulations! Sewing quilting and bag making have become my passion. I’m 64, and very happy and enjoy my hobbies sewing changed my life for the better. I wish you great success, learning keeps us young.
Wishing you much success on your quilting journey. RUclips is surely your friend to learn so much about quilting. I took one class many years ago, then I learned the rest from RUclips. I have a Juki 2010Q. Love it.
I really enjoyed your video! I taught myself to knit several years ago and just love it, perfect for this 67 year old woman. After watching several of you quilters I’m thinking quilting is next…
I really appreciate your kind words! I am really starting to be obsessed in a good way lol. Give it a try I bet you have everything you need to get started
I'm so glad the algorithm suggested your video! You should take a look at 3-yard quilts. They are for beginners and experienced quilters alike, and they make lap sized quilts, but you can make them larger. It's a channel on RUclips I'm a beginner as well and my goal is to make lap size quilts for those in nursing homes, children, veterans anyone who needs the warm hug of a quilt. Happily a new subscriber🎉😊
I began sewing at 12 on my mother's older but wonderful Singer. I always made clothes, but never really enjoyed it much, and began making quilts in my early 50's. I became almost addicted to making quilts as I am to reading my books (which is something). I'm now retired, have 4 sewing machines, and enough fabric for another lifetime! I just love creating (quilts) and learning (reading). I hope you continue your sewing journey!
Like you, I too went on that same type of journey after I fractured a knee cap. I too, gained weight and became type 2 diabetic. Lost 35lbs and desperately trying to light the fire of my sewing/ quilting passion. Thank you for your honesty from your MI neighbor!
The empowering of women is perfectly complemented when a man takes up a craft that has been considered a female domain. Art is art… and I think it’s going to bring you a lot of satisfaction. You have the right attitude. I am 78 this year and started sewing two years ago when I got fed up with not being able to find sweatpants and jogging pants with a fly. I learned how to sew sweatpants with a fly after I learned to make my own pants. Since then I haven’t looked back and am just now beginning to branch into quilts. I had a favourite painting by a local artist that I used as a point of inspiration for a small sampler art quilt and now it hangs by the painting… and receives many compliments. Good luck with your quilting but don’t forget to take lots of breaks for walks… it helps keep up the energy you need for the challenge of quilting. 👍🏻
@@hiltonwatkins6750 actually… men, especially in the middle east, are some of the best sewers, embroiderers, fashion designers and crafters in the world and their crafts have been handed down thru many generations of fathers, grandfathers and so on. Quilting/sewing/embroidery/knitting/crochet or any type of thread work, in the US especially, is viewed by many as a “feminine” hobby. I can see and understand why some would see it that way, but historically, it’s ALWAYS been a man’s hobby as well.
Hey Barry, I applaud you for diving in to the world of quilty things in your retirement. I too am a beginner quilter , am retired and love the learning that happens and the problem solving. I have 2 finished quilts, one baby sized and the other a kid sized quilt. I found a woman on RUclips named "Googie" in Northern England who makes quilts for a childrens' charity using fabric panels of kids' story books and instead of turning them into fabric story books she "frames" (for lack of a better term) the pages with different 2 inch strips of fabric, ending up with a fun quilt. So that is what I enjoy making. And I also applaud you for exploring what brings you joy! Can't wait to see what you do with that Juki! Cheers from Minnesota Barry
Good for you; a new interest, new stuff to learn (RST) and share. Congratulations on the weight-loss. And you'll love your new Juki. I served my time as machinist-fitter in a shipyard, wrenched bicycles for a couple decades, retired out of locksmithing. And then I discovered sewing machines, and, sewing. All the best on your success. YVR
All those things sound fascinating - I always thought about becoming a locksmith.Every comic book I had as a kid said I could be one in the advertisements lol. Best to you as well.
Welcome to quilting fold! As a former electrician you will apreciate how technical the construction of a quilt can be ("measure twice cut once" applies here too). You will also eventually learn how a design is "wired together" and "what colors of the piecing wires" have to go together to make your design light up! Okay, clearly I am not an electrician so will spare you any further attempts at electrical and quilting puns, LOL!! I am 20 years into a hobby that I started just because I thought I might like to try this for a project or two. Also if you enjoy travel, consider taking that motorcycle and visiting some quilt museums or shows, it'll be well worth it! All that to say have fun and enjoy the crafty ride and the warmth of your handmade quilty hugs!!

Welcome to quilting, Barry. I’ve been doing it for over 60 years and I never get tired of doing it. I hope you will make a bunch of HST’s and when you take a notion to, make a quilt. Watch videos for HST quilt pattern ideas ~ there are so many ideas. And maybe think about sewing a few 9 patches because they also can be cut into each to make but look fancy quilts. I just hope you’ll share one of your quilts with us. And never be hesitant to ask questions, because there are many many many quilters who would love to help you. Good luck, I know you’re going to love sewing them!
Wow, I can't imagine taking on a new hobby at such a ripe old age! I'm also a guy beginning his quilting journey, but I'm so glad I'm starting young, at 58.

Have fun and reach out to the quilting community. Just subscribed to your channel. I love watching other people’s journey in whatever they wish to do. I made my first quilt this year. It’s not perfect but I love it and it lives on my recliner. Enjoy your Juki! Thank you for sharing. Your friend Diane ❤
I started quilting a year ago at the age of 48. It is tons of fun and very rewarding. My quilts are scrappy and imperfect and I am fine with that. Enjoy your new hobby! I hope to see more updates.
Love this!! Finding out the next chapter in life can be long and difficult. Welcome to the art of quilting! 1) you don't always have to press to the dark side. 2) don't press all the seams to one side of an "intersection". This will cause bulk when the quilt is finished. 3) don't be afraid of straight line machine quilting. Or try a wavy line so that nobody knows if there are imperfections. 4) a great way to practice your new craft is to make pet blankets for your local shelters. Animals are much more likely to be adopted when they have a quilt in their kennel. 5) if you wash your material before piercing, wash all of it from here on out. Personally, I don't wash. It gives the quilt a more crinkled/textured look with the shrinking when the finished quilt is washed. And finally, ALWAYS use a color catcher when washing your quilts until the catcher comes out mostly white. If you gift a quilt, gift color catchers with the quilt. Have fun!!!
My Dads name is Barry. ❤ Bless you. Im making quits now for fun. My great grandmom use to make quits by hand. I have a quit she made in 2001 before she passed away on my bed. I love it. Its so comfy.🎉❤😊

Good for you... Im glad you found what it is that brings you pleasure. I retired 5 yrs ago and went through the same thing you described. I dabble in several crafts now and enjoy them all. Good job i will be following your channel. Loved the table video.
Hi Barry. I started quilting when I had to take a family medical leave, and now I'm totally hooked! BTW, I'm 61 also. I wanted to encourage you regarding your comment about the actual "quilting" part of the process. I do not use a long arm or do any free motion quilting. I like to put on a movie at night, get a quilt, and hand quilt it for an hour or so. Before you know it, it's done! I don't use a hoop and I don't try to make it lie flat. Instead, I like the fluffiness of a hand quilted, low tech quilt. I also love the quilt- as- you- go methods I have learned from all the great tutorials out there. People who see my quilts, fall in love and bring me fabric to make one for them. For me, working with all the beautiful fabrics makes me feel like I did on that first day in kindergarten when I was given a new box of crayons and a coloring book. Each project is like that for me. I hope you continue to enjoy it as well. Best wishes!
I bet your quilts are gorgeous! I admire people who can hand sew but I can’t see myself doing it. If stay hooked like I am now - I can see a longarm (computerized) in my future lol. Keep going and keep me up to date.
That is fantastic - I am an electrician, Harley rider but no vet. I was in the Girl Scouts once but I'll leave that story for another time. I bet you have great memories of him teaching you how to quilt!
Hi Barry, I'm a lifelong crafter and a fellow buckeye! Crochet is what I'm best at, but very recently I have been rekindling my interest in quilting. I look forward to seeing your projects come together. :)
YAY Barry! I retired 18 months ago at 61, I can relate in terms of it being a big adjustment. You are headed in the right direction, keep going! Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting! When my Mom passed, I inherited her 30 yr quilting passion, including 35 UFOs!!! New quilter too, now working to complete them in my retirement.
Congratulations on being retired too! I have two quilts from my grandmother who passed 50 years ago. That’s one thing I love about quilts is they will be here long after I am.

“Put the right sides together” 😅 indeed, so many names for things haha I’m 33yo and got gifted a sewing machine by my partner’s nana, I’ve always wanted one and never thought to get it, and now I’m like, why haven’t I started this earlier? 😅 sewing/quilting is such a great creative outlet and a love work for sure! After becoming a mom (don’t get me wrong I absolute love motherhood and my family) I’ve sort of lost my identity a bit and was feeling like something was missing from the old me (if that makes any sense haha) and sewing brought me that feeling, I’m obsessed and I totally get why ❤
Absolutely know what you are talking about. The same thing happens in retirement. You think you know what you want until it hits you and quilting gas put my head on straight again. I think you are awesome to have found a passion at your age and there are so many directions you can go!
Thanks for sharing this, it's inspirational, an encouragement to others, especially men and such a great way to get in touch with your feminine side and natural creativity. I'll be following with interest. God Bless 🙏🏻💖
Have you considered restoring old sewing machines? There are dedicated fb pages for it. My absolute favorites to do are kenmores!! It’s fun, rewarding and you give a machine that someone else would send to a dump a second chance. All metal machines last forever once restored and taken care of.
Barry it will be fascinating to watch the creation of a new quilter. Many of my 67 year old age peers have retired and then returned to work within 6 months as they had no plans for what to do with all that time. They felt aimless and useless. Quilting is a great thing to take up because there are so many "learning modules" to the craft, even (as you point out) the divide in skill sets between piecing and actual quilting of the quilt sandwich. There is always room to grow, always an interesting new challenge, and I like that we end up with a useful creation. Wait till you test drive a few longarms!!! PS. do yourself a favour and get a rotary cutter that shuts itself when you release the handle...so much safer!
Wow thank you for your comment. You are exactly right and I was in the same place as they were luckily I took my instinct and did what I wanted to do and not what I thought I shouldn’t do. Everyone should find and follow their passion

Good for you. There are a load of videos on quilting and how-to's etc. But kudos to you for choosing something that makes you happy. My only problem with quilting is my hoard of fabric (aka stash) that I have squirreled away all over the place. Happy quilting, enjoy.
Great to find another man who quilts, the more you do, the more that passion will grow. I've made clothes, mainly for myself since the 1960s, but discovered quilting a few years ago. I turned eighty this year and still sew most days. I have brother machines, they work well, but a Juki would be even better. I am now a subscriber.

Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting!!! I love to see that men also appreciate this skill and I look forward to seeing your quilting videos and progress.
I'm surprised that more men don't quilt. My husband is a retired engineer and I thought he'd be interested in quilting because of the precision involved, but nope. He's happy to watch me create quilts and shows some interest but not enough to give it a try. I got him to use Jack (the ripper) for me and he's good at that task. He'll even help me lay out a quilt, he had fun playing with my log cabin quilt I'm making right now trying to see how many patterns he could make.
Hi Barry. Start with small projects like table runners, table toppers and placemats. You do all the same steps as for a quilt, only smaller. It brings me a sense of accomplishment and I have made a large quilt to the finish. As i live in tropical climate (Durban South Africa) I will not be needing a lot of quilts. I am 77 and retired. Sewed all my life. Enjoy the journey.

Not only are they often inspiring with the posts of their work, but they usually give great advice when you have a problem or question. Good luck Barry.
Thank you for that - I’ll have to look into some of those groups!
Congratulations! I am 62 and giving it a go a well after 38 years in medical. Enjoy your journey!!
Sounds like we are sort of on the same journey?
I’m 48 and started quilting in May. I started with a Brother but was gifted a 1960’s Kenmore. It’s a BEAST and I love it. My next project is going to be a rag quilt.
That’s great! Older is better and I bet that Kenmore can’t be beat for quality!
@ it’s a 17600. I love this machine! I’m even able to use it for rag quilts with the regular presser foot.
Wooooo Hoooo! Go Barry! A Juki! WOW! A great machine! I have several vintage machines, including 3 treadles. They are fun! Congratulations on beginning to quilt! May your bobbin always be FULL!❤🎉🎉
Thank you very much! So far I learn something every day and it keeps getting better
Enjoy your retirement and that new Juki. You will love it. I have 2 Jukis and a Brother.
That is great - I think I’m finally living the dream 😊
I’m 66. I retired 5 years ago. It took me 2 years to figure out what I wanted to do. The day came when I made a quilt for a grandchild’s birthday. Although it wasn’t perfect it was nice and I loved the process. I am now a quilter! I have a Juki. You will love it! Congratulations! 🎉
Congratulations to you on retiring. My JUKI just came today Can’t wait to open it up.
Juki is a great choice! Congratulations! ❤
Barry Quilting also transformed MY retirement - I got a Cutie Frame by Grace co and now I’m a You Tube Vlogger ( the closet quilter ) so quilting is my passion So happy for you ! This is a tactual skill and keeps my brain busy ! Welcome to the tribe ! ;)
Well you have another subscriber - thank you!
@ thank you and I will be watching your videos too - it’s a great way to spend retirement ;)
I love my Juki qt 2010!!! I just found quilting myself at 63! Love the passion!
Awesome and thank you! Does it show that much? Lol
I can totally see how an electrician would develop an interest in quilting.
Quilting Is a addiction! Welcome to the club !
I took it during the quarantine and now I have a sewing space in my living room ..
It’s a good kind of addiction I hope? My only problem is that I want every ruler, cutter, marker etc NOW lol
@barrysquilts it s called an addiction. But enjoy this time ! For me it s more fabrics addict !
Bisous from France
Congratulations! Sewing quilting and bag making have become my passion. I’m 64, and very happy and enjoy my hobbies sewing changed my life for the better. I wish you great success, learning keeps us young.
That is so great to hear you're enjoying it. Thank you!
Such great news. Love to see a man quilting.
Thank uou
Congratulations on your retirement and your new hobby. Welcome to the addiction! 😂
Thank you and so far I love it!
Wishing you much success on your quilting journey. RUclips is surely your friend to learn so much about quilting. I took one class many years ago, then I learned the rest from RUclips. I have a Juki 2010Q. Love it.
Thank you and I agree I’ve been binge watching quilting channels. I am trying to master my Juki and I am so happy with it - happy holidays
Hi Barry and welcome to the awesome world of quilting. Excited to see what you create!!!
Thank you
I really enjoyed your video!
It's a channel on RUclips
I'm a beginner as well and my goal is to make lap size quilts for those in nursing homes, children, veterans anyone who needs the warm hug of a quilt.
Happily a new subscriber🎉😊
I'm going to check it out, thank you for the suggestion!
@ great 😊
I began sewing at 12 on my mother's older but wonderful Singer.
Look at you - that is awesome. Thank you and happy holidays
Your story made me smile. You playing with the rotory cutter made me nervous.
lol I’ve been old that- I promise to not do that anymore
Like you, I too went on that same type of journey after I fractured a knee cap. I too, gained weight and became type 2 diabetic. Lost 35lbs and desperately trying to light the fire of my sewing/ quilting passion. Thank you for your honesty from your MI neighbor!
Im glad to see you here. Let me know how you are doing - lets enjoy this journey
That's a great story about your sweatpants - I bet that was quite a satisfying accomplishment! Great to see you move into quilting too!
That sounds really interesting right now. I’m hoping just to be able to make half square triangles lol
I did the same thing in 2020 when I retired. Best decision.
Fantastic - congratulations on your retirement and now I don’t feel so crazy in taking up this wonderful hobby.
Welcome to the quilting world! I like piecing more than quilting. Looking forward to seeing what you create.
I think I am with you on that! Quilting process is a little bit intimidating
Lol, you’ve given me some ideas :-)
@@barryquiltsyou can always send stuff you buy, to yourself, if it won't fit on the bike! Ask the post office to keep it if you won't be home yet, or get a p.o. box to send it to?
When we stop learning we just head towards dying. I’m happy for you. I’ll be watching as I am a newbie. I have been working on the machine my mom left me when she passed away. Lots to learn and I look forward to watching your tutorials. 😊
I think you are absolutely correct, I hope to learn a lot along the way and share what I learn.
Brilliant. Lovely seeing guys getting involved in patchwork and quilting. People cant understand why i buy fabric and cut' it up into little pieces' then sew them all together again.i love hand piecing, applique, hand quilting and epp. But just be aware it quickly becomes an adiction loool. ❤❤❤
lol that is my favorite. A hobby where I take perfectly good fabric - cut it up and then sew it back together- brilliant 😀
I hope that is my next video is making HST 9 patches - thank you
Good for you.......Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting
Thank you
Wow, I can't imagine taking on a new hobby at such a ripe old age! I'm also a guy beginning his quilting journey, but I'm so glad I'm starting young, at 58.
lol yes you young bucks can get a start now and look where you’ll be when your my age lol. Best to you and enjoy it - I am so glad I started
I love sewing, needlework and knitting. Plus other crafty stuff 😊. You have to try things. Keep in mind, it’s a hobby and you’re going to make mistakes. So don’t give up.
Thank you Diane! I’m really enjoying this so far
@ I don’t know about you but my hobbies are meditative for me. I just get into that zone and relax 😌
Good for you. Quilting is a way to create, design, and express yourself. It is great to keep learning
I totally agree so far 😀
Good on you Barry. Making quilts will make you happy.
It already has and I just started. At least I feel like I have some direction and purpose besides sitting in my lazy boy chair
I started quilting a year ago at the age of 48. It is tons of fun and very rewarding. My quilts are scrappy and imperfect and I am fine with that. Enjoy your new hobby! I hope to see more updates.
I’m going all in on this. My only hope is I don’t want to get burned out because I’m addicted lol
I second that .welcome to the quilting world.
It’s never late to find passion, good for you keep going. Blessings
Thank you
Have fun!!!
Wow number 4 is such a great idea and I need to look up what a color catcher is? Thank you for all the tips
My Dads name is Barry. ❤
Bless you. Im making quits now for fun. My great grandmom use to make quits by hand. I have a quit she made in 2001 before she passed away on my bed. I love it. Its so comfy.🎉❤😊
That is awesome. I’m sure will love it for many years to come!
Ps your Dad must be a good man with a name like Barry 😎
I've been quilting for over 20 years and I get excited to hear "I just started quilting". I think of the joy ahead for you as you inhale everything quilting, and the joy of gifting your quilts. HAPPY QUILTING!😂😂
Thank you very much and I’m excited about this adventure- happy holidays
Good for you... Im glad you found what it is that brings you pleasure. I retired 5 yrs ago and went through the same thing you described. I dabble in several crafts now and enjoy them all. Good job i will be following your channel. Loved the table video.
Thank you - I am hoping to actually start doing some piecing in my next video
@barrysquilts that is going to be a great video.
You are going to fine a wonderful quilting community. Look forward to following g you on your new journey
Thank you very much!
Good for you! So happy you found your new passion.
Thank you
I learned to sew & quilt from my grandpa. He was a machinist, Harley rider, and WWII vet, and his happy place was at the sewing machine. 😊
Thank you very much 😊 happy holidays
@@Babushka_Kat, my best friend and I quilted for 25 years together, before she passed I quilted about 13 quilts of hers because I knew her family would not like to inherit ufo’s.
I just signed up for the quilter. 💙💚💜
Awesome - glad to see you
Good to learn new skill at any age. It gets you out of your head and into your hands.
You are correct!
Hi Barry, I’ve been a quilter now for going on 18 years! You will LOVE IT! I know you’re hooked because you’ve just ordered your second machine! I own 8 altogether including my Gammill Longarm!!!! I subscribed to your channel & can hardly wait to see your first quilt!!!!! I still have my very first quilt so maybe , hopefully we can trade first quilt pictures!!!!! My name is George out in California!!
Hey George glad to see you here. I just made a charm pack quilt and I’ll show it in a video in a day or so but I can’t wait to make a queen size quilt for my bed. That’s when I think I will have really accomplished something. Long arm is still in my future- thank you for subscribing
@ That’s AWESOME!!! Every piece we make is an accomplishment!!! Will be here waiting to see your work!!! I still work part time so I’ll catch up when I can!!!
Im 48...& Started learning to quilt. Baby steps.
Just finished piecing my 2nd baby quilt...now for the actual quilting, then binding.
Going to start two more quilts ..one for a friend, one for me.
Learning to hand sew...@ the same time as regular sewing...
Making my first needle book @ housewife as well...
Good luck! Looking forward to seeing what you create/design as your first few quilts.❤
Congratulations to you! Hand sewing is at another level. I just finished my first charm pack quilt - I’ll do it soon.
I'm glad for you! Quilting can be addicting and a wonderful way to explore creativity. I've been quilting for almost 20 years and sewing for over 40. I still learn new things all the time. Hope you find joy in your new adventure. I know that it has done that for me. :)
That is awesome - you must really enjoy it.
Just found your channel, welcome to this quilty community.
Thank you very much
You are ADORABLE! 🥰 Exactly, retiring does not mean quitting!
I love that! Thank you
Si glad you are going to give quilting a try! I hope you love as much as I do.
Thank you very much and so far yes! Actually I’ve been thinking about it 24/7 for the past two weeks
Welcome to the world of quilting 😊
It's a wonderful place to be.
Thank you and I’m enjoying it.
Thanks for sharing this, it's inspirational, an encouragement to others, especially men and such a great way to get in touch with your feminine side and natural creativity. I'll be following with interest. God Bless 🙏🏻💖
Thank you 😀
Quilting is definitely my happy place 😊 I hope it continues to bring you joy 🤩 👏👏🇬🇧
Thank you very much and happy holidays
Have you considered restoring old sewing machines? There are dedicated fb pages for it. My absolute favorites to do are kenmores!! It’s fun, rewarding and you give a machine that someone else would send to a dump a second chance. All metal machines last forever once restored and taken care of.
I’ve actually been watching a couple of channels doing that- looks very fun.
Welcome to the quilty world, as you mentioned it is a fascinating craft. I've been piecing and quilting for 30+ years. Just subbed to your channel.
Thank you and I know this channel won’t be a learning channel except for what not to do lol

Thanks so much, I am having a blast learning!
You go dude! I am a quilter so I think this is cool but good for you seeking out learning something new and following your heart. I wish you many happy hours quilting. And I hope you enjoy your new machine! 🎄
Thank you and the new Juki just arrived today!
Good for you. There are a load of videos on quilting and how-to's etc. But kudos to you for choosing something that makes you happy. My only problem with quilting is my hoard of fabric (aka stash) that I have squirreled away all over the place. Happy quilting, enjoy.
Thank you and sounds like time for some scrappy quilts lol!
Just came across your channel so nice to see a bloke trying something new.
Thank you
I look forward to watching your journey in the quilting community. BTW, we have that same couch. I recognized the pillow. 😊
I must have awesome taste then lol thank you 😊
Great to find another man who quilts, the more you do, the more that passion will grow.
I've made clothes, mainly for myself since the 1960s, but discovered quilting a few years ago. I turned eighty this year and still sew most days.
I have brother machines, they work well, but a Juki would be even better.
I am now a subscriber.
That is awesome - My brother is a good one but it does so many things it confuses my brain. I thought I would get a juki just because it just stitches 🙂 that you for subscribing and let me know if I’m doing things correct
How lovely, I'm just starting to learn on my new to me Juki NX7, look forward to the unboxing of your new machine 😀
Welcome to quilting and the Juki family
Thank you
Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting!!!
Thank you. I’ve always appreciated people who quilt it’s just taking me some time to get up the nerve to do it.
Hello to you and thank you. I just completed my first mini quilt today and I’ll show it to you in a few days lol. I really want to get to your country sometime!
I LOVE this! I hope to follow you in your quilting journey. Sewing and quilting is wonderful! You’ll love it
Thank you very much
I'm 61 and recently retired as well. I've always loved sewing but in the last year I've taken a deep dive into quilting and I'm hooked. Congrats on the Juki! I bought the same machine earlier this year and was blown away by the quality of it! It's a smooth, powerful workhorse that sews beautifully! Best wishes on your journey, I'll be tuning in!
I’ve got to figure out the oiling routine- how often ?
Beginning quilter here too in my late 40s! Looking forward to following your journey! I have (i think) the same brother as you. Will be curious about the new machine.
