This was a brilliant video of how the battle develops and unfolds! A great addition to the standard mission videos.
That overall general/tactical picture of the theatre is brilliant and gives an indication of the complexity and work that is involved in plainning these out!

This is actually much, much more interesting than the TacView. It seems to me that the CGI should be given more authority to give orders and not only report hostile planes. CGI can see the big picture, which the single fighter groups can't. Thus "orders" from GCI could lead to a more coordinated attack/defense. I have seen too much of single pilots saying "No, I want to this or that", having no idea of the greater piocture.
They do have that authority to some degree.
To give some context to this video, this was the first day of our Iran campaign therefore there was a weapons hold until one side showed signs of aggression.
Which was obviously Blufor. The dogs.
I loved this. can we have more of this? Not just as a tutorial etc.. but as an addition to the reapers uploads? perhaps releasing GCI footage well after the event so it wont effect current missions? I loved watching how the encounter grew and formed. More please!!

It is very important to note that GR has their own rules and preferences for what GCI call-outs sound like that differ from military or civilian SOPs. These BRAA calls and Picture calls may seem unconventional to your ears, but are the SOP for GR, and the GR pilots know what to listen for.

VERY interesting video - I qualified as an ASW Aviation Tac Director on USS Kitty Hawk, and then as we entered the Persian Gulf - moved over to Surface Controller for the Destroyer Squadron Commander (also based off the carrier)... that was back when computer displays where JUST coming online in CIC and the Modules. Nice to see GCI/Strike's view

LoATC adds a new dimension to DCS. Makes PvP and Campaigns a lot more interesting.
I've definitely wondered what the GCI was seeing. Does the GCI usually help with strategy, real-time or otherwise? Are Magic's instructions commands or merely suggestions?
Great questions. GCI is God and we follow his orders, but pilots can override him if they have a a good reason. GCI is also a gamemaster/tactician as well as a AWACS-type character.
Does anyone know why he sometimes uses "Tracking *****West" for tracks going *****East (i.e. NorthEast or SouthEast)? Are they just mistakes or are there some tactical/operational reasons why the GCI does this?
I'm fairly sure just mistakes I picked that up myself but then he gets back on track. Great situational awareness required there!

I know IRL there are very good reasons that strictly limit increasing the work load too much, regardless of how good you are.
Regardless, switching between bra and cardinal directions on the fly like that with the time he has per callout is very impressive.

Is it a radar feed where he only sees what the radar sees or is it showing everything in the game?
Only what AWACS sees.

If you are going to try and GCI for a milsim group or for GR, LotATC is a prerequisite.
@@HCShuffle You do understand that you dont need to pay for it as a client to use DCS on a server that is running it. If you want to use the application, why wouldnt you pay for it. If its cost is higher than its value to you, dont buy it. Others however may see more value than seeing nerf-god mode and using a 'ruler'
@@HCShuffle sorry, Lotatc should design their software to suit you? Why not whine to the server managers - they dont have it and its free to them!
I am not sure why you're so hung up on having everything for free... Your basis for it being 'shit' is : a. its not free, b. you cant use it because its not free, c. despite it being free to server owners, the servers you choose to connect to won't run it, and going off the other post, because you cannot see everything like you can on the F10 map in God mode.

@@HCShuffle The server shown in this video has around 35-36 users connected to it, and is one of 3 lotatc servers on the machine. Neither I, nor the creator of lotatc can help it if your undoubtably cheap (going off your desire to have everything for nothing) PC cannot handle that much information at once. As you can see, working fine for the guy in this video. Maybe have a good long hard look at yourself?
I would love to be part of such a mission, but I'm afraid my English is just too bad to communicate like that.

@ in more fairness :)... as teh mission progressed he was making better calls...as i said..this is teh first time GCI has been put under teh spotlight..lets cut him some slack..u ever make a wrong east/west call..i know i did/do :(

GCI stands for Ground-Controlled Interception, an air defense tactic which developed during World War I
If you say 'hostile' that means cleared hot.
Hostility declared..clear to engaged any target
I jumped to 15 mins in and died a little as a GCI.
