Blackmore has a touch that is immediately recognizable.
Many have tried to imitate him, but he remains inimitable
because in addition to the touch there 's soul.

As Brian May of Queen said around 20 years ago - “No one talks about Ritchie and I don’t know why”
Eddie Van Halen never credited Ritchie as an influence yet he played Purple songs in cover bands in the mid 70’s. Eddie said his main influence was Eric (Old slow hand) Clapton. That doesn’t ring true. The first guitarist I thought of when I heard Eddie was Ritchie. They share .. speed, precision, great tone and dynamics and are great showman.
If the most high profile guitar wizard of the 80’s blanks you, the next generation aren’t going to know why you are so great. Ritchie is head and shoulders above any hard rock guitarist of his generation IMHO.

He helped create metal with Deep Purple, then invented the subgenres of prog metal and neoclassical with Rainbow (which also introduced Ronnie James Dio to the metal world), and now he plays renaissance music with a hint of rock. Is there anything Blackmore can’t play? He really is a god.

Everyone must be hearing the backing track to think it sounds like Santana. Solo sounds 100% like Ritchie Blackmore to me.Uses some of his signature descending runs and his unmistakable vibrato and tone. This isn't his recording project. It's for an album Pat Boone did, called, "In a Metal Mood".Kind of looks like Ritchie had this,"let's get this over" look, but still delivers a pure class solo.

But, Carlos projects such beauty in a few notes. I love them both for what they have contributed to modern rock. They could both teach the up and coming guitar stars. Sounds like RB to me. Its the the whole style of the backing track that gives it a Santana feel

The main theme sounds a bit latino style and therefore his solo sounds like Santana , but generally he played it in his own style ! All the licks and bends were as always as he does! Great Ritchie !
