I love how shell bell is actually a viable item in raids. I always liked the concept in regular play throughs, but felt like the hp gained was always so minuscule.
I feel like it was nerfed! I hardly get any recover compared to the last 7* raids.
@@SweeterThanPinkCandyit wasn't nerfed. You gain health depending on how much damage you deal in the attack.
I've been using leech horn/drain punch with leftovers for recovery I might switch that out for the raids if that's the case.
@@Kevlashnikov using lifesteal moves and leftovers is not very efficient. consider swapping the item for a damage boosting item, as most (maybe all?) lifesteal moves heal based on damage. life orb, type-specific boosting item, I personally love using the Metronome with it being a super niche item, but quite amazing for raids
"Least popular Johto starter" perhaps, but will always hold a special place in my heart, especially with the Team Four Star Nuzlok and Mr. Stake! I'm also a big grass type fan for starters across the generation board.
I’ve always liked most if not all of the grass starters.
Chikorita gang rise!
Fellow Mr Stake fan!
MURRRRRR STAKE!
People who hate Chikorita are weak
I can't wait until Feraligatr is a 7 star raid boss!
I think we should all be very grateful it can't learn more of the elemental punches and fangs.
Agreed. I was thinking the same thing.
That guy is clicking ddance 100%
@@FireFarmer123It can also learn Swords. No matter what, it's gonna be hitting hard, and even without Fire and Electric coverage, it's got a lot of moves that it can exploit with Sheer Force.
so what typing you think they’ll give to Feraligatr? Dragon would be phenomenal but it may be dark type to boost crunch and a new move given to him like lash out or perhaps they’ll make him ice type for ice fang and Avalanche
Welcome to the war room my friends,.

@@Master_Mew90 we need all them help we can get, a mythical is even better. What’s the strat lieutenant?
@@RodimusMinor1987 what’s the strat lieutenant?
Whenever I hear war room I immediately think of a duck game lobby
That is epic the Skeledirge build got me the Meganium on the first try! Thank you very much Austin John Plays!
Chandelure max def, ghost tera with Shell Bell/leftovers and moves: Taunt/Clear Smog, Calm Mind, Acid Armor, Shadow Ball. Immune to body press and resists grass moves. Ghost tera protects against the bulldoze.
Max HP or attacks? what nature
@@SilverWolf713 probably max sp.atk
Meganium has huge potential now. It achieved encore, knock off and body press in SV. It can deal meaningful damage while using its newfound utility to take advantage of potential switch ins and set up sweepers. It can abandon the liability of grass typing for something more useful like water, poison, or flying. Without Tangela and Tangrowth to compete with, it can be the utility grass this Gen. Offensively and defensively, it still competes with Bellossom, Vileplume, Rillaboom, Serperior, and Hydrapple but in the lower tiers it has potential to do something.
Then in gen 10 it fades back into the shadows cause tera won't exist. Sadly.....
Sadly it still sucks. It’s extremely passive nature, tera reliance and inability to function well on traditional archetypes (hyper offense or balance) means you are still better off with Bellossom and Vileplume overall.
@@rockowlgamer631 Well, lets hope it gets a Mega in PLZA, and that megas stay in Gen 10.
Seeing this copypasta here felt like a punch in the gut
Having Knock Off and Body Press will not make it viable even in lower tiers. It's gonna stay in ZU forever unless they drastically change it.
I've been supporting online using Armarouge (Ghost Tera type) with Taunt, Clear Smog, Shadow Ball, and Psych Up. Lead with Taunt to prevent Curse. Shadow Ball to help chip away at the shield. When Taunt wears off use Clear Smog to clear away Curse boosts. Once shield drops Taunt again and then Terastalize to boost Shadow Ball. Psych Up is to borrow Special Attack boost from Skeledirge.
I was just thinking about using ceruledge for the same thing (didn't think about psych up though). How did the technique work for you?
@@JCXP123 Works pretty well. The Psych Up is just sort of a bonus if it pays off. The important parts are Taunt and Clear Smog.
but does clear smog work if the shield is up?
@nwing07__ It should since it's a special attack with secondary effects rather than a status move? Taunt wouldn't work if the shield was up though
@@nwing07__ yes. Its a secondary effect on an attacking move. Its not just a status.
This Psychic Meganium Raid is so ANNOYING I kept on dying
Did you managed to kill it? Or you need help when the 2nd round comes this week?
@@Mister_Soyuz_on_YT I killed it thank god but probably will need to once it comes back
@@Mister_Soyuz_on_YT I need help.
Didn't realize that the ability clear only lasts one turn, that explains the protect.
I just got it with an overqwil with taunt and acid spray
dont even need it, if you put the correct EVs and have a 5 IVs Skellie you will be able to withstand a non crit and regain health back with shell bell
Let’s go! Excited to do this as my first 7 star raid event. Brute Bonnet was fun but looking forward to that Herba Mystica farming
Appreciate the work you do brother! You helped me so many times in this game.
Thanks my dude! Massive help!
We are back boys! Welcome back Austy!
Yes, my starter gets to make his return to my team
Amazing Strategy Video , Thanks Austin John
Thank you. Works on solo mode. On co-op everyone is still experimenting and raid fails too easily
Hey. Did you have to cure besides Shell bell? Mine’s usually dying after 4 torch songs
Back at it again, friends. To the War Room!
Awesome ❤ thank for the guide.
Got there eventually, thanks. I've really neglected held items and skills.
Perfect build!
I used Osirus' Skeledirge build, except for having Hex instead of Slack Off.
Excellent guide, thanks!
Been waiting for this, thank you!
Love your videos Austin!!! Are you still planning to put out the "everything to do after you've beaten the game" video for these games? I've watched all the ones for the other games and use them as a kind of checklist after the story is done. I've been shiny hunting along with a few other collectathon type challenges I gave myself (catching all wild tera battle pokemon, final form shiny dex, getting all the NPC trades at the Blueberry academy, that kind of stuff).
Been watching your videos as long as I can remember and I've always loved them, I hope everything is going well for you! Thank you for everything you do for us. Hope to see more of your videos soon!!
Beautiful build as always Austin. Cleared even easier coz my clodsire teamie kept posioning it haha
I used Armarouge, EVs in Def & SpA, Modest Nature, Stellar Tera Type, shell bell
Moveset: Iron Def, Calm Mind, Acid Spray, Dark Pulse
Maxing out Def will protect from most attacks. Does take a bit of time when maxing stats with Calm Mind but was able to defeat it with one move after the shield went down.
BTW, the nickname for special attack is SpA, Spe is short for speed.
Worked out just fine with just five torch songs when I decided to solo (I keep forgetting to use a PP Up on Skeledirge). Took a while though but the results were better solo than it is in multi
I've been waiting to see a new video from Austin 🎉
Took a few tries because my first online teams mostly had people choosing Pokemon that were getting one shot almost every second turn, but I got it in the end.
Since I had 5, and honour of Ash's Bayleef, I used a Love Ball
Malamar has both contrary and skill swap, if that'll help anyone
Was actually just thinking of that
Yeah, but it makes the flinches more annoying
This worked, thank you SO MUCH!!
Don't forget swagger causes confusion and drops attack 2 stages when meganium has contrary. Don't use when shield is up.
@@supergluehotty I did that, it really helps!!
A decent support Pokémon is actually an Appletun with maxed out Def and Sp. Atk with Apple Acid (damage and low opponent’s Sp Def) and Giga Drain for damage and recovery. Tera Grass for extra damage or a defense tera type like Ghost cause of Body Press
3:44 im pretty sure an npc will always defense cheer at the start of a solo raid
Thanks for another super helpful guide!
Sadly it’s only around a 3% chance to happen, I’ve done hundreds of raids and only seen it a couple times.
@@straightnasty.1380 oh i could've sworn it happens every time
It definitely happens 100% of the time when solo
@@yuditakahashi4672 is there a way to make it happen all the time when solo ? I’ve played both solo and with friends locally. But it never happens 100% of the time for me. It in fact rarely ever happens
@@straightnasty.1380 it has always been like that to me, so I don't know if I did something specific to make it this way
BABE! Austin John posted! Yeah it’s a war room meeting!
I did it with Cereuledege with. Clear Smog, Brick Break, and Taunt 😎
Another great vid! Easy re-spec on Skeledirge and got the raid in one! I had a few times where I was a little low on health while setting up Torch Song the 2nd time, but nothing heal cheers couldn't solve.
I keep dying trying to build Torch Song the 2nd time. I'll try heal cheers now
Thanks Austin!
Use this it worked for me ❤..Lokix @Shell Bell ability Swarm Tera type Bug Evs in 252 Hp ,252 Atk ,4 Spl Def. Adamant nature Brick Break , Screech ,Sword dance, Lunge
I used Clarex Shadow Rider and it worked!
For those of us that came into this and used all of our ghost tera shards on Annihilape before realizing it wasn't good, fire tera Skeledirge is still viable. Take flamethrower instead of hex. Get your tera, torch song to +6, then switch to flamethrower until the shield breaks. After the shield breaks, switch to shadow ball. It takes the entire time, but it is possible.
Unaware is definitely a good idea for this.
I was waiting on this video in the war room
Thank you Austin! Just beat my 1st!!!
Meganium getting the love it deserves! I can't wait to battle and than farm for those herbas!
I use skill swap Contrary Malamar, my teammates used physical attacker Mew with sword dance, leech life, brick break (turn 1 against the screens)
and who do you skill swap too?
Bruh @@dethtroy2185
@@dethtroy2185 The Meganium so that it lowers its stats with it's curses due to contrary.
@@Gotenhanku you'd think it wouldn't bother if it had negative effects from that move, but if it actually does employ curse after skill swap that's pretty evil.
I might try chandelure. It's ability infiltrator makes it ignore screens
I was trying to use annihilape with bulk up and rage fist while holding an expert belt but zen headbutt was destroying all of us
Can you make a video on the printer item while using the epoch converter time seeds not sure if you know about it but I'm sure others would agree you explain things very critically and understandable would highly appreciated
How do you find it because I checked everywhere and I don’t see a psychic mighty mark raid.
Just note Skela is unaware so if you get the 30% sp def drop unaware nullified that
It worked, thanks!
I did it on my second try with this strategy, on my first try, i got a cpu that used willowisp and meganium cleared it on shield, the zen headbutts were just to much damage over time to survive. Second run i got a cpu that poisoned meganium turn 1. Never cleared the poison even on shield instead of plus 6 torch song i did plus 2 so that i could heal myself with hex, i think this was a little bit more optimum
On my first attempt, someone brought in a malamar and skill swapped first turn. Cake walk after that. I even scolded myself because I forgot the shell bell. The bulldoze did knock me out the one time.
Thank goodness I got my meganium last night thanks hitsuian typhlosion
Austin did you know that there is an ability patch and gold bottle cap on top of the massive orb thing in the terrarium
Hey are u going to be doing the new raid boss?
There were so many videos about this but I waited until yours dropped cause I only trust you for this stuff
Why didn’t this work??
Some people have mentioned using Skill Swap Malamar.
When soloing, don't forget to steal Abilities from your NPC partner pokemon after you've given Meganium Contrary.
For example I stole Merciless from the NPC Toxapex which meant infinite crits and a much easier time. Another example would be Rivalry from Haxorus (if you've got the right genders).
It took a few trys but I used the skeledirge bulid and on my 3rd try I finally got it thx Austin John
Thanks for the video. Completed on the first try 😁
Did you have to use cure besides shell bell? Mine’s dying after the 4th torch song after shield 🥲
I used spiritomb and it works but the key here is the support pokemon that has ability to lower attack at least 2 in my game I was luck to have Tauros and Arcanine as support.
I been waiting!!!! I AM PREPARED!!!!
i struggled for like 30 mins with this strat
until i realized that I forgot to give it unaware lol
After trying this strat many times without sucess I tried 3 scorch song, tera shadow ball until shield turn and used protect then. Then scorch song again until +6 and instead of hex try slack off in case your hp is too low. Then just spam shadow ball until you win
I wonder if something with Infiltrator or Brick Break would help to not have to worry about those screens.
I was thinking of using Roaring Moon but then I saw Body Press, Dirge FTW. I am going to have to build another one, although I think my Shiny one has Max HP and SPA with Unaware. So TS until Shield, then Protect then TS until at +6 then SB until you win, or Hex if your Allies give it a Status Condition, but with Leaf Guard can it get s Status Condition
I love Meganium, so I really want to do this raid. But I also don't want to get rid of the Charizard raid since I can run it with Sylveon who is my favorite Pokemon (along with Ninetales and Flareon)
Would a ghost tera ninetales be viable?
A second comment i was considering seeing if i could make use of spirittomb in some way? His typing would mean id be dealing with seedbomb as the worst until terastiliaing maybe will save for a play test. Honestly either premade team coop this or solo with the skeledirge build. On the solo you reaply cant afford a misplay.
Could Lokix work? I’m just saying based on the type advantage.
Big freaking help... ❤
I’m just waiting for the paradox legendary version exclusives to be in raids
Do you think they will do a future series of events where each of these starter raids will come back for 24 hours or something? I’ve missed a few and some of my favs like Empoleon
So special bug types
Skill Swap Malamar with Stellar Tera is pretty funny, you can get one in the Terrarium
While trying to get a Skeledirge for the raid, I hatched a shiny Fuecoco on the very first egg! Unfortunately I'm having trouble trying to beat Meganium with it. 😢
Thank you
Caught her in a safari ball !!
So whats a good one for playing with others. Cause time just always runs out.
I wonder if Annihilape would work for this Tera Raid Den event? Since Annihilape has Rage Fist which gets stronger for each hit Annihilape takes. If anyone has done the event with that Pokémon, I would like to know if it works or not. And that’s counting for Reflect & Light Screen to.
Annihilape works, but it needs a partner that can either clear smog Meganium to hell and back, or skill swap contrary onto it to weaken it with it's own curse
Oh I see. Then again I usually play these raids solo though.
Annihilape can do it. You'll need to manage Taunt and Bulk Up. Then use Focus Energy to fish for Crits with the Rage Fist.
He have you made a vid on isolated incounters for the indigo disc
I tried the skeledirge build and it didn't work I kept dying from zen headbutt
Wait so how does curse work? I thought it was lower speed 1 lvl gain 1 lvl in attack and defence? Is that why it seems to just eat everything thrown at it?
which one is better to invest in, HP EV or Def EV?
That skeledirge shadow ball strat worked first go ! 😊
I did skeledirge ghost terror max hp max defence with slack off protect shadow ball and torch song
I literally cannot find this raid and I’ve made sure I’m on the latest update but it just doesn’t appear on map
Pretty cheap Malamar build that did the job for me:
- perfect ATK IV (may not be needed, mine didnt have it)
- any nature that boosts ATK (may not be needed)
- EV-trained ATK (may not be needed)
- other stats don't really matter I think
- Shell Bell item
- Tera Dark
- Moves Skill Swap (the only TM here), Topsy Turvy, Night Slash and Superpower -> make sure Superpower has 8 PP
-->> Make sure your partners DO NOT have Intimidate (challenge with group while offline to change partners, challenge solo to keep partners)!
There are 2 options to start:
Turn 1: Topsy Turvy. Turn 2: Skill Swap. Then continue as I describe below
Or:
Turn 1: Night Slash. Turn 2: Topsy Turvy. Turn 3: Skill Swap. Then continue as I describe below
Topsy Turvy will swap his buffs/debuffs. Skill Swap will give him your Contrary, so every time he curses he will lower his own atk and def (he does it noticably less often if he has contrary. only once after the start in my case). If you night slash first, you give him a chance to curse again, so the topsy turvy after that will have a greater effect.
From here on out you just use superpower 8 times.
This will first cause you to weaken yourself so he can kill you quickly. This is fine, as when you return you have your Contrary ability again.
Just keep using superpower, you should reach +6 ATK and +6 Def while Meganium doesn't increase in those again during the whole fight.
Finish off by terestalizing and spamming Night Slash. You tera late in case you die to a crit or something else unfortunate happens. Tera Superpower does nothing special after all. Dark tera with a fighting move.
But +6 defense will keep you alive, +6 ATK Tera Night Slash with the occasional crit will devour Meganium and heal you back up with the shell bell.
My shell bell is not recovering my health as much and I have to do a cheer heal what am I doing wrong?
For the best support why not use Armarouge with the following skills
Shadow ball
Acid spray
Iron defence
Clear smog
( for that power up)
Item: shell bell
EVs HP and S.Atk 252 def 4
Now the rest can go wild while you neutralize that boss 😊👍
So do you just tera as soon as you have the ability to?
Works perfectly, just need a heal cheer once and youre golden
Basically Lyra's Meganium from Masters EX, except on steroids ._.;
Sorry why did curse bump it up to +6 after what appeared to be one use?
It can use curse separately for each pokemon on your side, so it can use it up to 4 times in 1 turn.
Austin, THANK YOU.
I was trying a support Drifblim build for this but I kept getting paired online with people who don't understand what terra types are. Why are you bringing poison types people? Drifblim didn't do enough damage offline, so I made my raid Skeledirge into this build and got it on my second try. Only lost the first time with Skeledirge because Meganium decided to start doing 3 attacks and I was only +4, definitely need to push for that +6 to do enough damage in time.
I did it with a tanky leavany, experimenting with moveset, turns out useful to skelledirge to build up their damage as you hold damage and heal yourself in the process... helping hand, protect, rest and charm... if someone knows why charm fails since turn 3 can please tell me? I'm a bit noob on this
his zen butthead is nothing if charms goes first and body press needs at least two charms to hold damage
Of course, in order to provide SOME challenge, curse maxes ATK in one go. 👍
Great Pokémon for one of the NPCs to have is Drifblim as it can use Will-O-Wisp before the shield comes up and after the shield breaks, thus making Hex more powerful to use.
Does the ability aftermath work in raids?
@@silverstreak227 Yes.
I haven't seen anyone suggest this pokemon, so I'll leave it here in case there are some out there still struggling to beat this for solo raids. No DLC needed.
Spiritomb: modest nature, EV 252 HP and 252 Sp Atk, shell bell item, ghost tera type
Moveset: taunt, will-o-wisp, nasty plot, shadow ball
Notes: taunt turn 1, get will-o-wisp to land after taunt, and don't nasty plot x 3 until buff wipe skill is used on team. Spiritomb is immune to body press and zen headbutt. Only unlucky seed bomb crits will do a lot of damage to you. Having allies that can intimidate will make this raid even easier. Good luck!
Contrary Malamar completely shuts this raid down. Skill Swap then swagger twice and he's doing no damage.
😂
what is the build?
thanks
