i agree with your ending words, the mini-game is surprisingly fun, being doing it for mochi since it's far quicker than any money farm or bracer ev training if you are constantly running through resources for competitive. so beyond just the shiny and the achievement of having done it, it's a really good farm, in less than 2 hours we got about 600 mochi total.
austin, the festival one is not on normal difficulty, its on easy difficulty, you can tell because it only has 3 rounds, and once you go back to the desk to do them after the festival the score you get during the festival is on the easy mode option
This would be astronomically more bearable if you could play this online with randos like tera battles. I have no friends and finding a group to do this is unreasonably dificult.

Same here. It's all about efficiency really, don't overextend yourself, be mindful of the amount you can carry and try to do as many as you can in one swoop, preferably complete all of them
I managed to succeed it for the story. Certainly wasn’t easy but definitely doable. I thought it was weird when I saw let’s plays have entirely different dialogue to what I had. I didn’t realise why until today.
I was playing Hard mode earlier with some people over voice chat and we were having a hard time getting past Stage 8. During one of the matches, someone got disconnected and instead of kicking the rest of us out, we were still in the mini-game with the timer frozen at 120 seconds. Balloons wouldn't respawn and berries wouldn't count for everyone, only for the person who deposited them, but the balloons would respawn for someone once they completed the stage. We each managed to beat Stages 1-10 individually with the frozen timer and were rewarded with the Munchlax at the end. We're still not sure how the glitch occurred but are glad to have our Munchlaxes.
I'm probably the 5% here and thought that first time during the festival was pure as hell easy. Just picked up the exact amount needed before depositing any of them into the baskets. I didn't even know you could FAIL it. Nonetheless, many thanks for your guides, and good luck to everyone grabbing their Shiny Munchlax!
I wasted some time picking up extras cause I thought that would give me a higher score, but now I know that finishing fast does way more for your score than depositing extras. So yeah I finished it easily, but I didn't beat Carmine's score.
I got so much anxiety of those greedy pokémon, I flipped out... and then had Carmine making fun of me. Kind of feel better I wasn't the only one failing 😅
Cannot even get past round 5 medium difficulty on my own. I guess gamefreak really hates singleplayer now considering this and the mewtwo raid (even though i barely managed to solo it)
You can solo normal its just a pain to put it lightly I think I was down to single digit time and having a turbo controller probably made it possible thinking about it
I killed it the first time I ever tried, just collect all the balloons as the colors are required and then get them back at once. Can't hardly imagine how anyone could fail during the quest 😅
I've gotten very close to finishing Normal mode solo, but I just keep thinking how much easier multiplayer must make it. Wish I could just join a match with randos
Kinda wish they had done a different location besides the apple grove in the rotation. That area is practically a fail condition because of all the objects you can collide with.
Huh. I beat the story one first try pretty easily with a score of ~7600. Haven't done it at all since then bc I didn't find it fun, and it kinda sucks that you need a bunch of friends if you want the Munchlax D:
Completed it on hard with 3 people, we made sure to all get a full 30 berries right at the start, then hand them all in at once at which point the third player was on dedicated guard dog duty, means we had a 90 berry head start before any pokemon had spawned since we hadn't handed in any berries and then the two remaining players were able to gather up and finish off the remaining berries we needed with about 5 seconds left. Also didn't fail the story version, nor did anyone I know that played it.
This is literally the most basic thing ever there’s no other way to do it than this. You’re always doing this. Even if you don’t put 30 in exactly the same time you’re all close enough it makes no difference This isn’t a tip
@@jamesperrott1 Simply stated how I completed it. Never suggested this was a tip or anything. Not sure why this comment upset you so much but hope your day gets better brother.

The photo you get at the end means so much to me, that I screenshotted it and printed it. Shame I’ll never see them again but kudos for game freak to making losers like me feel part of a team
I didn't fail during the festival it was super simple and I had tons of time. The important thing was just collecting a bunch of extra berries. Hard mode looks impossible
The map is really an important factor. I tried dozen of times with random people, failed always because of like two berries, the first time in that map we succeeded.
I BARELY made it to 6 last night and there was like 7 Pokemon at once coming to eat the berries, including super fast snorlaxes, I thought I was going insane lol
Heads up: if you cant find anyone to help you with normal mode i found a consistent strategy to do it solo but you do have to be very fast. Once you reach round 4 the strategy is to overfill one basket by a minumum of 7-10 with the berry most accessible that wave while also picking up the rarest color and no others. After you reach max carried unload only the berry your overfilling then quickly start collecting every berry you see except the color overfilled. Try to finish the rarest color and second rarest color, dump them scare off any pokemon nearby and speedrun the last color needed
One thing about playing Ogre Ousting with friends: Only the host will receive the Shiny Munchlax and not the participants. Mixel played with friends and did all the difficulties and only he got the Shiny and not everyone else
this happens when the others haven't beaten normal mode. You have to beat easy and then normal (with or without friends) then when you do the hard mode you will get the munchlax. So if you have a group just do easy, then normal, then try hard mode
Fun fact: bees only start collecting pollen when they are furthest away from their nest/hive. This way, their load is heaviest when they are closest to home. This is also how your strategy works!
Me neither... but I can’t. I've only once gotten to Stage 6 on Normal and only twice Stage 5. No way could I beat Hard solo if I can't beat Normal and connecting online with people to join me isn't possible, so I'll never beat this mini game
I've played through the DLC story multiple times for several files and can say with certainty that the Festival mission is set to Easy mode. It's only 3 Rounds and you're able to grab all needed berries without ever going over max hold capacity in every round. Your score also shows up under the easy difficulty when you go back to the stand.
tried it so many times within the last 3 days and always lost at level 9 or 10. with your strat it worked first try with randoms and we had 20seconds left or so. highly recommend

Honestly, I didn't have any issue with the Story segment for Ogre Oustin, I'm pretty sure it's the Easy difficulty, I can do Easy all by myself and I can get all the way until Normal 4 before losing the run
I really do like the DLC so far. Teal Mask is a field trip. Also, the Ogre Oustin game on Hard Mode is Palace of the Dead 1-200 with a dedicated static. XD

Man I've almost finished the hard by myself. I've noticed a strategy only gathering one type at a time and dumping those and replenishing as you come back
Hearing you say that nearly everyone you spoke to failed it shocked me. It was surprisingly easy that first go around, only when I tried Normal after did it seem to spike in difficulty
I did it with some random people on discord. Beat all difficulties, no VC we followed this same exact strategy by intuition. And we completed it with 30 seconds left on the clock, such a good team
A little bit of streamlining for IRL teams using voice chat - have the roar spammer collect half as many berries as everyone else before the spam begins. You said it yourself: they can't steal berries that aren't there.
I don’t like the idea of having to do this with other people online. There shouldn’t be a task in the game that essentially requires online assistance. But it is what it is
I was able to easily complete it the first time, all you had to do was get every berry before putting any at the posts so the Pokémon didn’t spawn so every round it made it so you could get everything all at once and then complete it
aw man, i know no one with the dlc that's willing to help me with hard mode, i really wanted the munchlax but at least this helps with grinding for mochi in the other difficulties haha
No friends so I’ve just playing solo. Pretty much everything is spot on for solo play except tip #2. Go ahead and over-collect on berries. Because unfortunately you WILL be losing berries to munchlax and greedant. When you over-collect/over-deposit your berries, it doesn’t tell you but all of your berries are in that basket. You may only need 15 red but you can have as many as you want. This is important because having extra berries adds a time buffer to the Pokémon eating your berries. Hopefully enough time for you to get there and scare them away. If a Snorlax comes, always prioritize scaring it away because there is essentially no time buffer with that fatass. If it gets to your table, your berries are gone. The map that John says is the best one is without-a-doubt definitively the best one. All the others will be impossible on hard. Plan your routes ahead of time. As you’re making your first run to the baskets, keep an eye on where the other balloons/berries you need are and run those routes afterwards. I’ve only ever made it to stage 9; didn’t even know there was a stage 10. With great luck, I could definitely get to stage 10 but getting good enough luck to get to stage 9 is already hard enough. Even though it’s dang hard, it’s so much fun too. And that Shiny Munchlax is such a great incentive.
Wait, people really failed their first attempts? I was fine, it wasn't a high scoring run but passed it just fine. Came here for tips on beating hard, did end up doing it in Co-op with a friend. Love all the content and helpful tips you make here!
I remember that japanese player and I did use his strategy and it didi work, after several tries. The moves he use wore mud-slap, amnesia, bulk up, and leech life. It took forever.
Actually, the very first time I did hard mode online, we managed to beat it first try. it was a super clean run. it was so good, we actually beat round 10 faster than round 9. We got the canyon area and used the same defender strat. Rather than focus on specific color per team member, you pick a direction and go.
So a few friends and I tried this, we succeeded. The method we TM’ed is bum rush. Effectively the entire time of the game you collect everything from the far corners and then the last person who makes it back has to guard. Believe it or not, orchard was our fav one because you could see everything, the easiest is definitely the cave map because of, well, the caves. So moral or my story is collect everything instead of dividing it up, you’ll lose time searching for specific colors.
Thank you so much Austin! Because of the vid, I was encouraged to check online again and found a board filled with players using this same strat. Saved me the grief of unknowingly being "that guy" 😂
i prolly won't be able to beat hard and get the shiny munchlax for awhile (most of my friends aren't getting the DLC until the second part is out) but honestly just playing the game on easy or normal and just getting the mochi is enough for me. it's really fun
Hold on, you can FAIL during the festival? And people actually DID?! I mean, you just gotta go fast, people! (also employ some knowledge from Salmon Run if you play Splatoon) EDIT: One thing I find BS is that you can't do Ogre Oustin' online with random people.
First of all: Thanks for all the great and elaborate content. Keep it up! Are you by any chance going to make a video summarising all the possible post game content - like the rich couple, new buyable gear and so forth?
I beat the story mission on my first try. I had literally one second on the clock when I beat Round 3, but I beat it. I can't beat normal mode on my own though. I've gotten close, but I can't keep the berries safe and also collect enough within the time limit, even when I realised that you can still move during the round transition screen, so you can start all rounds after the first one far from the berry tables next to a bunch of balloons, which can save precious time.
Austin can't say Oustin' XD "You may need a second person. And to complete hard, you may need a team of three-" yeah. I can't see I won't be doing those. Thanks Pokemon Company. >.> Oh, I have an auto turbo controller. I could be the guy in the middle and just leave the controller do it's thing. :P
Thank you for the strategy 🙏🏻 finding 3 competent players is another thing though, been searching online for two days and voice chat really would help. Unfortunately I don’t know a single person who owns either of these games in real life so it’s just randoms with no strategy plans.
Patch 3.0 released with the second DLC. It was supposed to adjust Ogre Oustin difficulty. Does anyone know if this mode is now beatable in Solo mode? Looked online and no one seems to have asked this question or have a answer.
You can also get a Jumbo Mark on the Munchlax 1:06 Oh OK that's why everyone is so confused about the ability to fail, this is a WILD claim that like, I assume is true, but also wow how in the world is it true 1:15 Blatantly untrue, You only do levels 1-3 unlike Normal so it's super duper easy. The only difficulty comes from if you don't know about the limit at first due to level 3 having exactly 30 berries needed, and even then the most that'll happen there is just that you have to go out and fix your berry count and you'll not get enough points to conquer Carmine's score.
I found a cheese for the during the festival course so I didn't fail Hold every berry you need all at once then deliver. This is easy in round 1 and 2 but you need to be exact in round 3 as picking up even 1 berry to many of any colour will set you over the hold limit when it's delivery time
Do you think we could have a code set up for each difficulty so that people that don't know anyone that has the dlc could still possibly beat the harder difficulties?
Keep in mind, you HAVE to clear the difficulties in order if you want the clear prizes. I beat hard by joining a team without unlocking it first and didn't get it, so I had to clear normal and beat hard AGAIN before it gave me it.

lol I don’t think you have almost beat hard solo, at all
Love all your videos! You enhance the gaming experience 😁
Hearing you say that nearly everyone you spoke to failed it shocked me. It was surprisingly easy that first go around, only when I tried Normal after did it seem to spike in difficulty
I've gotten up to level 8 in Ogre Oustin' solo. I haven't gotten past it, but I feel like it is possible
I did it with some random people on discord. Beat all difficulties, no VC we followed this same exact strategy by intuition. And we completed it with 30 seconds left on the clock, such a good team
I’m really despising the forced coop events lately.
Glad to know I shouldn't bother with this minigame since I don't have friends to play with
Thanks for saving me the time!
A little bit of streamlining for IRL teams using voice chat - have the roar spammer collect half as many berries as everyone else before the spam begins. You said it yourself: they can't steal berries that aren't there.
Worth mention that is the largest Munchlax it can be! Go Mesagoza to claim your Jumbo mark 💪🏻
Yeah it's hard enough to even get my family to boot up this game and trade with me. They aren't about to oust any ogres.
Agree Ogre Oustin is a wonderful mini-game my husband and I spent a couple hours doing it Friday night. :)
I don’t like the idea of having to do this with other people online. There shouldn’t be a task in the game that essentially requires online assistance. But it is what it is
I didn't know you could fail it during the festival. Learned something new today!
I was able to easily complete it the first time, all you had to do was get every berry before putting any at the posts so the Pokémon didn’t spawn so every round it made it so you could get everything all at once and then complete it
"when you get the balloons... wait, is it balloons? Berries. I think it's berries.
So anyway you take all your beans to the bean tables..."
Hey Austin, i got this last night and forgot to say thanks for the tips and help! Also thanks for helping with the mewtwo raids a while back!😁👍
Somehow got the EXP charm during the festival. 🤷♂️ have yet to try again. The mini game is really fun though! 1:09
You get the exp charm as a reward from doing your first ogre oustin
@@elliottxd7936 that makes more sense.
aw man, i know no one with the dlc that's willing to help me with hard mode, i really wanted the munchlax but at least this helps with grinding for mochi in the other difficulties haha
I’m down
No friends so I’ve just playing solo.
I beat it in the story and Carmine was pressed like a panini. It was a delight.
I actually beat the first Ogre Oustin' game during the story and then almost lost my first easy mode
"You've got enough berries! Bank 'em and you'll summon Primal Groudon!" - Driftwood, Rogue Trainer
Hold on, you can FAIL during the festival? And people actually DID?! I mean, you just gotta go fast, people! (also employ some knowledge from Salmon Run if you play Splatoon)
EDIT: One thing I find BS is that you can't do Ogre Oustin' online with random people.
Routes is for sure the way to go, just managed to beat Hard mode with randoms that way after failing all day when focusing on a single colour each.
First of all: Thanks for all the great and elaborate content. Keep it up! Are you by any chance going to make a video summarising all the possible post game content - like the rich couple, new buyable gear and so forth?
It was really hard the first time, I thought I understood the concept but I had no idea where I was going.
I just finished this and got the munchlax. Honestly, I will never play this game mode again as long as I live.
I managed to beat it and actually beat the NPCs record. I just collected it all then ran back before nay mon could spawn
Thanks Austin John!~ and the homies who helped!~
Austin can't say Oustin' XD
"You may need a second person. And to complete hard, you may need a team of three-" yeah. I can't see I won't be doing those. Thanks Pokemon Company. >.>
Oh, I have an auto turbo controller.
So Mewtwo is basically impossible to do solo and now this is also impossible solo? I dont know if I like this lol
You can also get a Jumbo Mark on the Munchlax
1:06 Oh OK that's why everyone is so confused about the ability to fail, this is a WILD claim that like, I assume is true, but also wow how in the world is it true
1:15 Blatantly untrue, You only do levels 1-3 unlike Normal so it's super duper easy. The only difficulty comes from if you don't know about the limit at first due to level 3 having exactly 30 berries needed, and even then the most that'll happen there is just that you have to go out and fix your berry count and you'll not get enough points to conquer Carmine's score.
I found a cheese for the during the festival course so I didn't fail
Hold every berry you need all at once then deliver. This is easy in round 1 and 2 but you need to be exact in round 3 as picking up even 1 berry to many of any colour will set you over the hold limit when it's delivery time
>to complete hard you'll probably need a team of 3 or 4 people
Alright I'm out.
Welp looks like a good reason to beat dis mode now!!!
"Everyone I know failed the story mode course." Umm... What? I passed with a number of setbacks.
Do you think we could have a code set up for each difficulty so that people that don't know anyone that has the dlc could still possibly beat the harder difficulties?
I think it randomly generates the code, doesn't it? I'd love to be able to join up with randoms though, yeah
The game generates a code for you. So no.
I didn’t know you could fail. Passed it my first go in the campaign.
