      thanx for watching, we had a bad year in 2018, which saw many guys quit, a few seasoned guys quite too. it was months without rain and really hot |(For the UK) then it took months for the lawns to recover.

    I only do border work as part of a maintenance schedule which includes all the other usual tasks. I get them in control by the end of May and stay on top. Avoid one-off border worker in my opinion. I enjoy providing a full service and finding interest in a job and creating great relationships with customers.

      its up to the individual to decide what they do, weather commercial or domestic, new build or old, there is work out there for everyone, I just weight up the pros and cons without judgement, personally I like the fulfillment of walking away from ANY job with satisfaction, if I don't feel satisfied with what I have done it haunts me.

    There’s room for everyone, the only ones I don’t like are the ones who turn up and trim everything with hedge trimmer and don’t even know what the plants are. Mow blow and go isn’t bad it’s a good little number if you can get the clients and they’re of the understanding you’re not there to cover all lawn requirements.

      @@TKG let them find out the hard way. I’m lucky enough to have clients with common sense who can see I have knowledge and experience and are happy to pay my rates. But if your getting a lawn cut and roses pruned or wisteria pruned with a hedge trimmer for a fiver then I’ll happily stand their applauding the whole situation as I know like many other skilled gardeners like yourself it’ll all how wrong and they’ll have to employ me/you to fix the mess eventually annyingly for some it’s a patience game..

    • @TKG
      @TKG  3 месяца назад

      @@Karl-p6h we have a few gardens we are "fixing" mainly due to these mow blow and go guys, NOT THE ONES WHO DO IT PROPERLY!!!!!!!! the type of person who just want to top up their dole. (wow that's an old one) I think there is a market for all kinds of work, most of the pro's who just cut lawns, tend to go on to proper lawn care, I have a couple of days where all we do is lawns, to be honest y and sell border work but they are not interested, so new customers \i pass on to a guy who just does lawns, because having Sam with me, she prefers doing the borders.

    • @Karl-p6h
      @Karl-p6h 3 месяца назад

      @@TKG yeah that’s makes sense. It’s a tough job as you have to offer advice to clients regarding lawns and when you mention scarifying or feeding etc they tend to go into their shells. If you can explain the reasons why you are offering certain services then they normally come round to the idea of then decide it’s a no often enough they find someone cheaper and as to say it’s you who then gets called for the fixing.

    I've got a Hayter Osprey autodrive. It weighs 29kilos and I lift in and out the side door of my 2008 Honda Jazz between 8 and twenty times a day. I no longer take on customers where I have to carry it through their house as they have extended every inch of their property and left no access to the rear. They do not understand. There is a difference between lifting and carrying. There is a knack to carrying a lawnmower 50 foot up and down steps and through a house.

      @TKG  4 месяца назад +1

      To be honest my knowlage was pretty limited when I first started out, not only that one mans plant is another mans weed, you just have to trust your instincts sometimes and do what you feel is best, I find the hardest gardens to manage are the ones the customers are involved with.

    I do two days a week with mow and blow. 15 per day, roughly, and £25 a go. When I'm finished the day, I'm tired but my body isn't knackered. Hedges, small trees and bushes bore the life out if me. Weeding on your hands and knees in dog pee, cat poo and biting insects doesn't interest me. I do hedges, trees, bushes and weeding but i don't like it. It depends what you want to do. I've seen grass cut by gardeners that looks its been butchered. I pride myself on the quality of my work. If you cut a lawn with cheap B and Q mower and compare with a £1k mower, its night and day. Two days mow and blow and I'm ready to pack in everything else.

I cant do any job no matter what it is unless I can get some form of satisfaction.
