  • Hi. In this video I will show you how to restore an old oak table . We will begin the restoration of the table by disassembling the table into two parts. We carefully separate each part of the table from each other. the main problem of restoration will be a large number of nails.
We'll show you how to hide these nail holes, as well as various tricks that you can use when restoring old furniture.
Of course, I will show how to remove the old layer of varnish with a varnish remover and remove the remaining varnish with a brush.
After that, we grind the legs using a drill. This method is suitable for anyone who is not engaged in wood turning and who does not have a lathe.
In one of the sides, the wrong insert was made, that is, the fibers of the insert were directed perpendicular to the fibers of the side, so we replaced it.
And also we will show one of the ways to make dowels.
Coming to the end of the restoration, we had a question of tinting wood and we used one of the old methods of staining oak.
Many people know about this method, and many do not. If you guessed it, write it in the comments.
For the final coat, we used Osmo wax oil.
    Enjoy watching.

Замечательный стол, очень красивое дерево, большой объём работы из-за странного крепежа на гвоздях. Сейчас вы сделали всё правильно.

Tremendous resurrection sir. Thank you for sharing this insightful video. Using ammonia to “age” the wood is amazing. Joining technologies sore have changed since that desk was originally constructed. I missed the part where the top was attached to the leg frame... how did you accomplish that union?
Wishing you, the wood inspector and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother

I Dont Use All The Dark Finish
Dark Walnut. Cause It's Dark Enough. Some Of That Dark
Finish Makes Furniture Look Cheap. I Like A Clear Finish no Matter If The Wood Is Light Or Dark.

Clearly you have skill…..but, as before on another table….I’m not sure you can call what you are doing a restoration….it’s more of a rebuild. Of course though, it’s a very good rebuild!
