I don't live in the U.S. and I watch these kinds of videos on RUclips where people film driving in other countries...and, for a so called first world country, the U.S. has some nasty, neglected, decaying roadways. WOW! The U.S. needs to spend more money on its roadways and other infrastructure.
It depends on the state, The winters in iowa and nebraska swing temperatures like crazy, it goes from -10 degrees to 65 degrees in like under a week which easily breaks fresh new roads.

Take Exit 86 and go south for about 13 miles and you will end up at the iowa aviation museum in greenfield it's really cool.
