- Understanding Road markings part 2. This is the second part in our learn to drive series focusing on understanding those important limit lines and tire stripes. Many drivers commonly refer to these road markings as stop lines and pedestrian crosswalks.
The meaning of pavement markings and lines can be quite difficult to grasp as a new driver, because there's a lot you need to memorize! Road lines can be broken, solid, yellow, red, diagonal - and those are just a few examples!

It's a school zone. It says you cannot make a left turn between 7-9 am. It's fine to make a left turn any other time.

What are tire stripes.
I failed my drive test last month because when I turned in a street without clear lane lines I hugged the curb too much. And I drove with two feet.
