I just installed mines on my 2021 mt07 so feel free to ask me any questions. I found that my headers (could be product defects?) were a bit to close together so i had to slightly force the pipe by applying some pulling force. The carbon mounting bracket was definitely one of the fustrating point. It wouldnt sandwich properly and i had to get someone to pull on the metal bracket to slip the nut in. Not impossible but hard. I know that akrapovic said that you dont need a tune provided you have stock everything else such as intake (with snorkel on) but a tune is definitely recommended. Videos dont do this full exhuast justice. It has a nice low rumble and i love it. I tried it with baffle in and out and the sound difference is night and day. Baffle out is unbearably loud and I personally wouldnt reccomend it. Even with baffle in, i find it most comfortable with foam earplugs in.
Hey Brad! I wanted to mention for others re: the exhaust bracket spacing against the swingarm. If you put the nut directly against the bracket and the second washer as a spacer for the carbon tabs (i.e. nut > bracket > carbon tab > washer > carbon tab > washer > bolt) then it fits perfectly no bending needed. @9:23
Hey Brent G! Take a look at my comment above. Your suggestion will definitely do the trick but typically washers are intended to be used between the nut and bracket so I think the proper solution is to have the carbon tabs together.
@@Rick-ve5lx because there is not enough room to get the bolt in from that side unless you do it before putting the bracket on and them you have to try to get the bracket on with the silencer hanging off of it and would be hard to get the silencer hooked up to the rest of the exhaust. Thanks for the comment Richard. Hi, really liked your video! Just had a question. You said the bike isn't tuned and no power commander so you won't run the bike. Is it necessary or can you just buy a new bike, install the akra and ride it?
Mine is now tuned with the power commander. You bike will auto adjust its fuel to the new exhaust but it’s not enough. You can put it on there and be fine but run the risk of burnt exhaust valves from a lean fuel mixture. Backfiring and popping are common signs of a lean condition. ECU flash or power commander are good options to prevent that. It’s all up to you and how much risk you want to take
Hey, loved all the fine detail like all the socked an bolt sizes. One question pls, did you specifically bought the 2021 version of the exhaust, or is it the last gen's pipe and it fits just fine? Or maybe you or someone else knows if the last gen's pipe fits the new mt07 as well? thanks.
Did you have any smell when you started it for the first time? I just installed mine and I don’t know if the new pipe is burning off something, or if I have a leak at the header
Hey Brad, thanks for the great video. I just finished installing the Akra full exhaust on my 2022 MT07, but I had some trouble getting the headers to fit into the engine well. I think I have them in correctly, but I’m not 100% sure they are inserted as far in as they need to be. I would love a reference picture of your headers to see if our headers look similar where they connect to the bike
Thanks, one I learned this isn’t that hard of a job, 2 I learned I don’t need to replace the whole thing just the end part they apparently sell separately
Carbon fiber clamp has to sit face to face (clamp side), NOT sandwich between bracket. This way it presses in on shape of muffler itself and holds it on right position. :)
Hey Brad, I got an MT07 second hand that has the carbon akra exhaust but the DB killer has been removed. Can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back installed. If I work backwards to get the muffler off, do I need to loosen the header bolts? Or can I just take off the muffler bolt and be good?
I’m a complete noob on these things, so could you link to the exact model of exhaust? I’ve a 2021 MT-07 arriving this week, and I want some extra dB’s for safety, and this pipe looks solid. Can you link the gaskets as well? Cheers, dude.
Akrapovic does offer a more expensive titanium option which is Eur5 compliant however this one is neither. The bike comes stock with a eur5 compliant exhaust.
@@BradTheBuilderChannel thank you for your answer. I saw the prize of akrapovic titanium... no comment, but the thing that left me speechless was sound: it doesn't change at all from the stock exhaust. So my question is: can you switch to an eur4 exhaust without losing the eur5 certification? I'd like to change my mt07 exhaust, this is my first bike, and i don't really know wich exhaust should I choose. Btw many people makes holes inside the dbkiller, then you lose the homologation, I'd like to buy an exhaust tha offer to you a really good sound without make changes like this
@@Omar-lt6pg as soon as you change your exhaust to a catless system (pretty much every aftermarket exhaust) you are no longer compliant under eur4 or eur5. I do not know of any systems other than the titanium Akrapovic that holds the eur5 badge. There would be no sense in modifying the db killer on the Akrapovic carbon racing exhaust. It is plenty loud as is. If you live where these regulations are very strict and checked often by law enforcement then you might be wise to stick with the stock exhaust to avoid issues
did you end up riding the bike without a tune done with the exhaust? i’m tempted to put this exhaust on and just ride without a tune, i heard it just run a bit richer (pops and bangs)
I use a high quality external mic. Check out my most recent video on the Akra. I focus on just the exhaust sound and do some flybys / revs / rev matching
hey, I just got a MT-07 and it came with this exhaust. the previous owner removed the db killer, and I want to put it back. Do you know which one should I get? and do you know if I put it back, will it mess up the tune? it has a power commander too
Don’t worry about the tune with replacing the db killer. So the db killer is now missing right? If so look on Akrapovics official website and find the exhaust. Find the schematic of the exhaust and it should allow you to buy individual sections of the exhaust. If they don’t offer it check EBay.
@@BradTheBuilderChannel thank you 🙏🏼 also, I installed the power commander 6 today and it threw me a check engine light, and the bike shuts off after running for a while

Backfires and pops are characteristicas of lean condition.
Great video! How does this exhaust sound with the DB in for daily riding? I really want something louder than the stock exhaust on my 2021 MT-07, but worry about it getting annoying both for the neighbors and myself over time. Also, do you know anyone who has the Yoshimura R77 exhaust and if so what do you think the sound differences are between the Akra Carbon and Yoshimura R77?
Check out my sound test and riding vids. Those are all with the db killer in. Its plenty loud with it in. It's only loud when you crack the throttle. Low rpms you can sneak out of the neighborhood. I believe they sound very similar. I chose the akra purely based on looks. Thanks for visiting the channel.
@@krisvenema I went with the same Akra exhaust system as B-rad The Builder and had a flash and tune done by my local tuner. The sound is amazing!!! And, with the DB killer kept in, it is not too obnoxious for the neighbors. 😆
@@cmbiker Ha thanks. Please provide the responses from the survey you sent out to said neighbors - ha! What did the flash and tune run you? And did you install a power commander?
Is the power commander really needed yo run the FZ-07 That full system is designed for the bike, you are increasing gas flow should not create any limitation on engine right?
hey Brad , quick question , im waiting on my brand new 07 , since its coming from factory with the akrapovic exh. do I still need to replace the gaskets?
Also yes it would be a good idea to break it in with the stock exhaust but if yours is coming from factory with it installed I’m not sure how that would be possible for you.
Hi, I'm thinking of buying an Akrapovic carbon, is the sound too loud? Here in Portugal we have the euro 5 standard derived from the sports exhaust changes that make a lot of noise, so it's not cool here, what do you think should I put it or not? Hug ✌️
It is definitely loud which is why I keep the DB killer in which makes it more manageable. It’s loud when you really get on it but is controlled when you ease on the throttle. I personally enjoy the sound and it isn’t too loud to the point where you get sick of it. Based on what your telling me I would do it but keep the DB killer in.
Fantastic video man i have the same exhaust system and the first thing i noticed was the bracket that hits the rear wheel arm ive also bented it a little to make it fit but damn my bike sounds awesome with the new system
@@BradTheBuilderChannel thanks for the fast reply. I adjusted the bolt on the lever all the way to the top and pressed the peddle all the way down and that worked also didn’t have a short one ha panicked for a sec tho
Nice video mate. I'm considering getting the same exhaust for my XSR700 2021 (euro5). Do you know if the PC tune is available for that one as well? Or an ECU flash?
Thanks mate! Get the titanium one if you need euro 5 compliant. There is currently not a tune for Akra exhaust systems but the Dynojet reps insist the full yoshimura tune will work with all full systems so that's what I'm using and no issues. Ecu flash is also a good option if you want to tune more variables
Totally up to you but I recommend an ecu flash or power commander because you will derestrict the exhaust allowing for more air to flow through the engine. This causes a lean situation which can lead to potential engine damage
Yo B-rad nice work and beautiful exhaust! Is this an euro 5 exhaust or an older version of akrapovic? Im struggling a little bit if decibel noise is not too loud for law in germany. Maybe you can do a dB test too in the future. Keep up the good work. Cheers 🥂
Vape.mt07 thanks for the comment. This is not euro 5 but the titanium version is. The titanium version is also much quieter with the baffle in. Might be a better option for you. Hope this helps. Thanks for checking out the channel Japanluv. I’m 5’ 10”. I can flat foot the bike so it might be a little tight being 6’ 2” but the thing is majority of sport bikes are going to be tight like that. Logan, thanks for the comment. You would probably have been okay but the most important ones are the manifold nuts closest to the engine. It should also be retorqued after a few rides because changes in temperature will change how it seats.
I have not personally noticed this issue but check to make sure the parts were put back in the proper order and or torqued to the right spec. They may be over tightened not allowing the rubber around this fasteners to do their job. Hope this helps!
It’s subtle on idle but when you open it up it’s loud. I keep my db killer in and it’s still loud. Not to the point where you need ear plugs but it’s perfect. Harleys are louder lol
Thanks for the comment Razz. The truth is no. If you do run a full system without a tune, you will burn your exhaust valves losing both compression and power. If ran for a long time in such conditions could lead to engine failure. A tune will ensure your bike is not running lean and increase power. You have two options. Piggy back system to your ecu such as the power commander or a flash tune. Ecu flash tunes provide more flexibility with the tune but the power commander is just fine for basic modifications. Hope this helps!
Yeah the 2021 runs extremely lean from the factory even with stock exhaust because of euro 5 compliance. I got my 2021 Mt07 tuned with the akra ti/carbon, it pulls sooo much harder
@@BradTheBuilderChannel tuning it would void the warranty though wouldn't it? So why are people doing this on brand new bikes? Or by using the piggy back system is it just a simple case of removing it to revert back to stock without it being detected

The bike definitely does sound better, but I don't know if I could take the peakier noise for a few hours on a long ride.
Thanks Dave. That's exactly why my db killer stays in. Plenty loud as is.
did you end up riding the bike without a tune done with the exhaust? i’m tempted to put this exhaust on and just ride without a tune, i heard it just run a bit richer (pops and bangs)
Why does your akrapovic sounds with db-killer so much better than the akra in other MT07 2021videos?
What time did you put on the power commander having the carbon exhaust, can’t find it in their page
I used the Full yoshi tune per instruction from dynojet rep.
@@BradTheBuilderChannel thank you 🙏🏼 also, I installed the power commander 6 today and it threw me a check engine light, and the bike shuts off after running for a while
@@TheThelittledevil yikes that’s not good. Make 100% sure everything is hooked up right and that the plugs are firmly seated. If the problem persists I highly recommend reaching out to dynojet. Their customer service has been outstanding for me. Give them a ring or send them an email ASAP! Good luck
Thank you 🙏🏼
Hey Brad. Just got myself the same Mt07 2022. Can you please tell me the exact model of this exhaust please? Gonna buy one. The video is appreciated hugely. Will be hitting you up with more silly question hope you don’t mind seeing we are MT07 owner buddies lol
Heck yeah that’s awesome! Check the description of the video. It has the link to the exact exhaust I ordered. Thanks for visiting the channel
It is the akrapovic full carbon racing exhaust system for Yamaha mt07
@@BradTheBuilderChannel hey Brad. Sorry for a May be silly question, will I need to do remap of some sort if I put on a full system in my mt07? Your help would be great
@@harjsidhu4026 I’ve had a ton of people ask this. Your stock ECU will adjust slightly to compensate but getting an ECU flash or piggy back system such as the powercommander will allow you to optimize performance out of the pipe and reduce the risk of burnt exhaust valves due to a lean condition without a fuel tuner.
Curious about this, too. Did you install either system?
@@krisvenema I went with the same Akra exhaust system as B-rad The Builder and had a flash and tune done by my local tuner. The sound is amazing!!! And, with the DB killer kept in, it is not too obnoxious for the neighbors. 😆
@@cmbiker Ha thanks. Please provide the responses from the survey you sent out to said neighbors - ha! What did the flash and tune run you? And did you install a power commander?
Is the power commander really needed yo run the FZ-07
That full system is designed for the bike, you are increasing gas flow should not create any limitation on engine right?
Great video man!
hey Brad , quick question , im waiting on my brand new 07 , since its coming from factory with the akrapovic exh. do I still need to replace the gaskets?
If it’s coming pre installed then no you should be good to go
@@BradTheBuilderChannel im a bit worried about the afrs , especially in break in
@@Stevie_O_Man what are you referring to with afrs?
Also yes it would be a good idea to break it in with the stock exhaust but if yours is coming from factory with it installed I’m not sure how that would be possible for you.
@@BradTheBuilderChannel air/fuel ratio I know it will run lean , but will it lean out enough to melt a piston?
It’s unreal how good this bike sounds with the exhaust. Thanks for watching/visiting the channel as well as commenting. Peace✌️
This exhaust is lígales in California?
No it is not. Only the $1200 titanium one with a catalytic converter is legal to use in California.
Did you have to install the akrapovic catalytic converter too ?
I love it on my '20 MT-07 (akra with TI)
Sounds so good man!
I appreciate the comment! Thanks for visiting the channel!
You skipped that bottom bolt that’s lined up with the brake lever how did you get to it
I used a shorty allen key otherwise you have to take the master cylinder from the mount to expose the bolt fully. It's just a little more involved.
@@BradTheBuilderChannel thanks for the fast reply. I adjusted the bolt on the lever all the way to the top and pressed the peddle all the way down and that worked also didn’t have a short one ha panicked for a sec tho
Great job! Subbed 💪🏼
AmenCornerRider, Appreciate it!
Ecu flash is also a good option if you want to tune more variables
you dont really need to tune
Awesome video! Would like to hear it without the db killer though
Wow bro, what a bike!!! Thank you so much
Why didn't you start the bike without tuning it with power commander? And why, why not start it?
Do you need to tune it after you get the full exhaust?
I have the same exact bike, Storm Fluo 👍😁. I'm so glad I J-oined!!
This bike is easily the best I’ve ever owned. Thanks for commenting!
Is it legal in Texas for inspections?
If they’re an emissions sensitive state that checks your exhaust, then no it would not meet the requirements. It is a catless exhaust.
what did you use to stick the ring gaskets on? can i use wd-40? will it stick?
We-40 is highly flammable and will not work! I used a very small amount of grease. Patrolmen jelly is also an option
What kind of grease you use & do you put the gasket on first?
Do you have to get a power commander or can you just get the exhaust?
Totally up to you but I recommend an ecu flash or power commander because you will derestrict the exhaust allowing for more air to flow through the engine. This causes a lean situation which can lead to potential engine damage
love this! thanks again
How much weight difference between that stock bathtub and the new one
Not sure on exact weight difference but I believe their website says. It’s substantial!! Sheared pounds off with this exhaust
Is it possible to disassemble the db killer in this exhaust? If so, do you know how to do it?
Amazing video :) !
Thanks!!
Thanks for the encouragement too. The vids are a lot of work but Im doing these things anyways so why not.
@@BradTheBuilderChannel if its not Euro5 this exhaust is illegal on a 2021 MT07.... 2021 needs an Euro 5 exhaust....so sad it sounds extremly good meh
Did you add the catalytic converter from Akra?
What would happen if you ran the bike even though it wasn’t tuned with the exhaust?
I am in the middle of making a video on this. Please stay tuned! will be posting this week
@@BradTheBuilderChannel looking forward to it!
Is that exhaust legal in California because I wanna get that for my mt-07
No it is not. Only the $1200 titanium one with a catalytic converter is legal to use in California.
What’s different this system compare to Akra full titanium system ?
Just discovered you. Looking for my first bike and a friend has one. How tall are you? Will this suit someone 6’2” height as me?
Thanks for checking out the channel Japanluv. I’m 5’ 10”. I can flat foot the bike so it might be a little tight being 6’ 2” but the thing is majority of sport bikes are going to be tight like that. The naked bikes are better than say an r6 or gsxr for knee bend in my opinion. I would see if you can ride your friends to see how you fit the bike.
@@BradTheBuilderChannel Thank you. Those mentioned by you were in my mind but once he mentioned the MT 07 I was hooked onto it. The bike is stored somewhere else and he’s back home at the moment but he said he ll bring it over for me to have a look in the coming weeks. Thank you.

What made you choose the power commander over flashing the ecu?
Thanks for the comment Richard. The power commander can be removed from the bike which I like. Easier to diagnose issues if it doesn't run right. If the ecu is flashed there isnt much you can do besides having it reflashed.

wish i would have had this for my install i just torqued shit down lol
Logan, thanks for the comment. You would probably have been okay but the most important ones are the manifold nuts closest to the engine. It should also be retorqued after a few rides because changes in temperature will change how it seats.
Anyone feel excess vibration in the right foot peg after installing this exhaust?
I have not personally noticed this issue but check to make sure the parts were put back in the proper order and or torqued to the right spec. They may be over tightened not allowing the rubber around this fasteners to do their job. Hope this helps!

hey how loud is the akrapovic on the mt 07
It’s subtle on idle but when you open it up it’s loud. I keep my db killer in and it’s still loud. Not to the point where you need ear plugs but it’s perfect. Harleys are louder lol
Best sound ever on a mt 07 no doubts!
Is there any power gain?
Can you runs this exhaust on this bike without a tune?
@@razz7463 you figured it out my friend. I'm close with the owner of my local power sports shop and he told me as long as the issues isnt traced specifically to the pipe your good. Awesome video Brad! I'm getting my mt07 and Akra exhaust in April and definitely gonna use this vid to install. Quick note on the muffler bracket. I believe the carbon tabs are both supposed to be on the same side (outer side). You can see that the bracket doesn't quite hug the muffler perfectly. If you install with the carbon tabs touching each other then the nut shouldn't hit the swing arm. This video is where I noticed the difference: ruclips.net/video/3CHU2CIhuVw/видео.html
Maybe he's wrong, I'm not sure, but it just looks like it grips the muffler a lot better when the carbon tabs touch each other
I just looked at the instruction manual (pg 13), the carbon tabs are definitely meant to be on the same side. Hope that helps!
@@davidplatt1525 thats what i did with mine too its definetley how its supposed to be. theres no way akra would continue to make a QC mistake like that over this period of a time.
Yes agreed. Just did mine today, fits perfect with carbon tabs touching each other both on the outside of the bracket. Instruction pic shows this
