Wow 30 mile training run! That's an awesome effort Stevo. Wishing you all the best for your 100k ultra & looking forward to that video. Keep up the great work 💪
Cheers Kev it was a tough one, I’ve needed some recovery days after that one.
Good luck with the 100K, I've also got my first 100k coming up soon. I sign up for 50K races to tune up for the longer ones, I find that it really helps with motivation having smaller events in the calendar, and it's much more enjoyable to do a 50K with others & having aid stations is a huge plus. I strongly recommend it for next time, and there will be a next time :)
Thank you Nigel. Yes a 50k race would have been ideal to be honest, I didn’t think of that at the time and it’s come round a bit quick. As you say, next time! All the best with yours too mate I hope it goes well for you 👍🏼
Really impressive, looked a great route!
Great running! I love seeing people do shit like this! 🎉
Cheers man. It was tough run so next weeks race is gonna be brutal.
Looking strong, Stevo 💪 Get that food sorted and you'll be golden. I had to turn the volume up to 11 to hear the audio on my phone this time, not sure if it's just a quieter video.
Cheers Mark, the audio isn’t as good as the gopro I’ll look into a mic setup or just shout the whole video if need be, it’s a pain.
New(ish) subscriber and new runner here. Really enjoying following your progress.
Hi James, cheers for that mate. I hope you’re enjoying running? People seem to really get into it when you find a good rhythm and do it for long enough that it becomes part of your weekly routine. All the best
Amazing work! Am also doing 100km RTTK this year and did my last long run yesterday, thank you for talking about the random ankle twangs! Have something v similar on my knee:) See you on the 15th!
Thank you Helen! I hope your training has gone to plan. Come and say hello if you see my camera sticking up in the air 😂 all the best, see you next week!
I'm doing race to the king too!! Good luck on Saturday 😊
Hey, good luck to you too. Unfortunately, my tendonitis has played up massively after this run and am touch and go for Saturday. All the best to you though and hopefully I will be there too 🤞🏼
Sounds like you’re right on track. I’m looking forward to the video where you say “why do people even do this?” at 75km in 😂 Good luck!
That’s 100% gonna happen 🤣
Well done mate.
Cheers Sean, body is feeling that one this morning.
Another amazing video! 🙌 you are doing amazing mate! 👍
Thanks a lot mate. To be honest this run has really hurt my ankle, not whilst running but the day after my tendonitis that I’m always managing has flared up badly. I’m so hoping it goes away in the next couple of days but i haven’t been able to run since. It’s so hard for me to get training right with my flat feet it’s a nightmare and stresses me out a lot. Let’s hope it fades out like it usually does! Hope your running is all going to plan 👍🏼
@@StevoRuns sorry to hear that mate, hopefully the tendinitis calms down 🙂 I assume your trainers help support your feet? When my old injuries flare up it stresses me out as well because I do S+C everyday and do everything to help my body to keep going so I feel your pain! Your do everything you can mate! All 👍 at the moment, will be just ticking over until I start training for the great north run 🙂
@michaeltownsend5981 glad to hear it’s going well mate, i didn’t get in the ballot for great north run, probably for the best actually 😂.
Yes I’ve been wearing orthotics and took good advice about footwear and exercises etc but when reach higher milage it starts to play up. I’ll sort it somehow. Cheers buddy 👍🏼
@@StevoRuns thank you mate! And I got a charity spot as probably wouldn’t get a ballot spot 🙂
Unreal mate, great vid as usual, what editing software do you use for your vids n thumbnails? Looking great mate 🙌🙌🙌
Cheers Kurt. I’m still paying the price for this run though my ankle tendinitis went to new levels after this one haha. I use the insta360 X2 camera and InShot for editing vids and thumbnails
Great work on the long run, sounds like you've got everything sorted. Try to break up the race into aid stations/check points, it's mentally easier than worrying about "the next 5km" than the next 90km.
Also, great to see you running with your pack fully loaded, those things get far heavier than you'd think hahha I usually average about a 3.5kg (7.7lb) pack, fully loaded, for anything more than 50k. Water is a big problem for me, so it's something I always carry a lot of and refill the most. Hope your body gets you to the start line, that's always the hardest part :)
Thanks Ashley. That’s a good shout focussing on the next aid station rather than counting down the miles. Do you have a water bladder on for the race or will 2x 500ml bottles be ok to keep refilling? Would be good to be the weight down. Cheers
@@StevoRunsI use both cos I've run out of water in almost all of my ultras. You can always dump the water if you don't need it
Hi Steve great effort firstly for completing your longest run. What is your running schedule for the next 2weeks before the 100K run ?(presumably to rest first after that 30 miler)
Hi! Thank you very much.
The plan has me tapering now, doing 40 miles total this week in 5 runs, one being fast, long run 16 miles.
Next week, 30 miles with 2 being fast, long run 10-12 miles.
The week of the race has 9-12 miles all easy then race.
I’ll be resting after this and will play it by ear with some easy runs this week. I want to get to the start line as fresh as possible but will pluck sessions from the plan if I’m feeling good on the day. Cheers
Nice run stevo ! Stevo this coming fall when weather gets colder and I start marathon road training would u recommend I run up 24-25 mile
Long run to get ready for road marathon March 2025? As long as I do it at easy pace? Low heart rate ? Last year only worked up 21-22 and still hit wall might started race to fast. U think it’s ok do 1 25 miler get ready for road marathon ?
Cheers mate. Yes I personally think it’s fine to go for 24 when the time is right before your marathon. As long as you’ve built up it well and it’s not randomly thrown in, which I’m sure you know already. Just be careful it doesn’t do more harm than good and think about how long it takes to recover from them! This 30 miler, even though it was in my plan, is taking some getting over! My ankles really painful and muscles hurt for days after, I haven’t run since Monday and it’s stressing me out. so go with what feels right at the right time. All the best
thank you Stevo!
