Your testing method is solid, well done! I would have never thought to come back to the same exact gas pump, but in doing so you took any variance out of the equation.
"I'm not sure why she's stopping there without a stop sign...But, okaaaay." LOL
All the time lmfao. Sometimes people got me confused 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol. Maybe she was just letting the guy go
Now this is what we call a grown up civic less of that fake vents.
I’m proud of Honda doing a fantastic job on improving the sound system, since you said other Honda vehicles sounded like trash
Yeah it's not like most people driving dosn't listen to something when driving, all cars should have a okay soundsystem at least.
Props to Volvo for colab with B/W or H/K or whatever they use nowdays when they designed the soundsystem in to the door designs to make it sound better, what ive read/watched is that Volvo have the best soundsystem of any car up to 100-120k$.
I just got the touring 23 , upgraded from 2018 civic and man the sound system is the biggest upgrade for me.
Excellent test! This did slightly better than my 10th generation Civic Hatchback EX did on the highway under similar circumstances (41 MPG compared to 38-40 MPG).
My 2018 Civic LX Hatchback 6 speed consistently gets 40 to 42 mpg at 70 miles per hour on the freeway! And that's the verified mpg at the pump when filling up. I get 32 to 35 mpg pulling my jet ski to Florida - can't complain at all!
I own an Accord and I have found that the MPG increases as the engine breaks in.
Agree im sitting at 44k on my 18.
I have a 2018 with 22k miles. I drive on ECONOMY mode and I still average only 16mpg
@@nicholascassadine1294 Uphill? Pot holes? Snow driving? Speed driving? City driving?

Just bought mine today and loving this car
Any complaints?
Did u get the touring ?
Cap
Same here! Just bought a red 2022 touring. I love it!
Good job 👏 with Honda adding a Bose premium audio system into the new 2022 Honda Civic on the Touring trim level😀👍
I have a 2021 Civic Hatchback and have obtained as much as 47.5 mpg over 5-hours of highway driving (I-95 N from Dunn, NC to Northern VA). You'll achieve the best mpg if you don't go more than 72 mph. The best I ever got over 20 miles is 56 mpg! That was from Jetty Park, Fort Pierce, FL to Stuart, FL on Route A1A. I didn't go above 55 mph.
keep it going brother! thanks again
I feel that the new 2022 Honda Civic Touring can be my first car
We hit over 60 mpg (3.7l/100km) in a 2017 civic 2l naturally aspirated on a 75 mile mostly highway trip that had an average downward slope of just under 0.1 degrees. 3 adults in car. It blows me away when manufacturers are switching to 3 cylinder gdi turbo junky stuff when the ol' inline 4, port injected non turbo can get this.
500 miles on a tank of gas is pretty good
For an economy sedan it's good but compared to a midsized sedan it not!!!
Yes it's pretty impressive. Honda used to have a very small fuel tank in the 10thgen (46.9 liter).
508
@@occckid123 You need to compare MPG, not miles per tank. A midsized vehicle has a much bigger tank.
@@steve8803 what did I just saY in my comment???
In my opinion regular burns faster than premium for the civic 1.5T
Damn! How does this get better gas mileage than my little 1.2L Chevy Spark!?
Because of aerodynamics sedan is always better than hatchbacks. Also because of the small engine which will actually consumes more fuel in the highway because it will work harder. Your mpg in the city is better tho.
@@evoemperor3776 its not the main reason, its about the whole mechanical engineering system improvement
Don’t get a Chevy or ford ! Get a Prius or Honda Insight 50+mpg those sparks are garbage after 100k miles
@@sandman5088my honda insight getting 29mpg hahaha
Very respectable number based on this thing essentially being the same size as a last gen accord.
I’m hoping the Los Angeles 🏙Auto 🚘 show is back either this year or next year so I can check out this new 2022 Honda Civic, 2021 Cadillac Escalade, the 2021 Acura TLX, & the 2021 Toyota Sienna
You can go to a dealership too you know
What size are the tires? 32 and 33 psi seem quite low. 🤔 'Morning Mist' color is nice; this is the first I've seen it in the real world. Lumbar support should be included on the Touring model. Thanks for the test. 👍🏼👍🏼
The touring has 18in wheels, I believe.
I just watched "Talking Cars" by Consumer Reports. They said their only complaint on their initial test of the Touring model was very loud road noise on all surfaces from the 18 inch tires.
I have the new hatchback sport touring. I’m apart of a group and a lot of the people that have the sedan took off the eagle sport tires and made the car much quieter. Not perfect, but vastly improved.
Any tire recommendations? I also hear going down to 17” helps too! Makes the ride more cushy as well
What’s the best alternative tire?
@@jaleelakram2232 a couple people in the group have had good luck with the Michelin primacy tours, and I saw another guy RAVE about the vredestien quatrac pros.
interesting that the civic got a little less than the elantra, but i would so much rather have the extra power from the civic
I love these reviews and real world MPG tests. I've looked for a real world MPG test of the BMW 330i (or 430i for that matter) and the Volvo S60 (any of the engine options) and can't find them but you do have some reviews of various cars. Are you going to do your real world test on any of those vehicles?
I’m looking forward to go back to normal so I can enjoy this comfortable once I get it by 2023
40mpg is okay for a petrol engine, hard to get any lower without a plug in hybrid really.
To bad diesel isn't a thing over in the US, a BMW 320d with 190hp can almost hit 0.4l/100km or close to 60MPG US.
My brother bought a manual xDrive BMW diesel not long ago and he hit 55 easy on a longer rid on 50 and 70mph roads.
Europe uses a different mpg scale.
@@johnbaird8805 We don't use it at all, the britts do and it's different but internet is your friend in that case. Why can't everyone just use the metric system? -_-
Jeez over 70 decibles at 70mph. My 2011 6 cylinder legacy with aftermarket exhaust is only at 68 decibles at those speeds. Thats really loud guys just for a normal car cruising on the highway. Wonder if it can be fixed with different tires
Would love to see this same test with the new 2022 Civic SI.
Coming next month!
is Quicker Than a Hyundai Sonata
I’m glad you loved it 💚
I’ve test out the Bose 12 speaker 🔊 premium audio system with my earbuds 🎧 on your review video, I loved 💙 it🎵
Honda put horrible Conti procontact Tx. It's loud ASF. I switched to p7 all season plus II. Huge difference in road noise
i run my 1971 dodge dart on a 1 gallon can. it has a 225 cubic inch 6 cylinder. the most i have gotten is around 37mpg. i get the feeling that most japanese cars have cheap short blocks with short rods.
Oh. One of these guys.
will your dart meet modern emissions and safety standards?
I love ❤️ you Daily Motor, your the best car review person
i have the exact same car and i have not once gotten more gas than 415 to a tank
Solid test👍🏾
Quicker than the Elantra, more reliable too by a lot. Now, it goes 73 @ 2000RPM. One can do 60 (fast enough for me I admit) and it would probably cruise at 1500RPM, which would improve that number to 46-48MPG, maybe more. Besides, you need to go half the tank too, avg works better.
On paper its quicker than the elantra. Real world the elantra is faster. Look it up.
Only problems ive seen with the elantra is the brake assist acting up. My neighbor has one. But warranty, better mpg, and faster. I rather get an elantra.
@@henryquevlogsss2108 Elantra is a lot slower than this civic. 🙂
@@Eugen-E the civic passes it around 50, 60. A lot faster? Lol like I said. Look it up on youtube
@@henryquevlogsss2108 Civic 1.5 turbo smashes that 2.0L NA Elantra 🙂. And he didn't use premium fuel for this turbocharged engine and the rolling resistance of tires was bad. This 1.5T from Honda is the most efficient turbocharged engine in the world, check out EPA testing on this engine.

You sound like a honda fan boy. Lol
Anyways yes its faster but look. Barely takes it. Smh
I’ve been feeling sad 😢 for a year later because the Auto show got cancelled of what’s going on with the COVID-19 pandemic
Cam you do city mpg? City is always higher, but for those of us who drive mostly city is very important especially with today's traffic.
I’m excited that I’m getting a part time job so I can start working to earn and save money 💵 to purchase the new 2022 Honda Civic Touring by 2023
Good
I wonder if better tires would help 🤔 I have 19 inch Continental Pure Contact LS tires on my Camry SE and it's very quiet 🤫
In a comparison of a Kia K5 GT Line vs the 2022 civic, which one do you feel has better/smoother lane keep assist?
I’m craving this new car
Great video!!!!! 👍🏽
I'm curious to see how it does in the EX trim. Supposedly, it gets an EPA rating of 42 MPG.
It’s the same car, so is it the smaller wheels that increase the mpg?
I have the 2022 EX and I only get 22 mpg. But I only drive city and my work, stores, school is only in a 5 mile radius.
Might be interesting to experiment with 17 inch wheels on the Touring to match the EX mpg. 74db interior noise is unacceptable if true. Should be around 60db.
Honda should focus on this.
Will you try the EX or LX to test the road noise since those trims don't have 18 inch wheels?
I get 55mpg in my 2014 2.0l diesel.
My 2016 Malibu 2.0l got 40mpg highway
i think this civic has pretty uncomfortable seats as well, as you mentioned.
Thats why i cant own a Honda, horrible seats.
What gas did you put in 87 are 93
Regular obviously
HR your like a day let and a dollar short I own this car now
Idk if I am the only one but, when I first got my 22 Civic, it had a range of 400 and something miles. But after that, when I fill it up to a full tank, it only goes up to 300 miles. This started on my first gas station trip. Anyone else??
Same thing with my crv😡
Same here. Im averaging about 26-27 mpg and I drive conservatively 🥲
Same just bought one too does it ever go above 300 miles?
The highest I’ve ever gotten was like 342 miles but other than that it has never been to 400
Anyone ever figure this out? I’m filling up with regular and getting only 262!!!!
I want things to go back to normal
I don't understand. I have 2 look at the video again but did the altima turbo with more hp beat this???
What is the highest speedd?
I want the Touring model
I wish if you could play radio 📻 station music 🎶 in one of your car review videos
Can y'all do the 2020-2021 Chevy Blazer Premier and do all the audio, mpg tests, and all that y'all do to test the vehicle?
I keep reading that the 1.5 Turbo is just a problem waiting to happen.. Much truth to this?
I want to buy the 22 Civic Sport Touring and it only comes with the 1.5
(would have loved a 2.0 Normally Aspirated) .. :-(
If you could give up some features, there's always the 2.0 models! Can even get the hatchback manual.
@@DailyMotor definitely want the Touring :)
Get the base model it'll be better
Did they get rid of Honda lane watch???
Realistic? 70 MPH on the highway?
now try the 2.0l engine!
I get 29 mpg with my new civic sport touring 24. Cruising 82 on Highway. Bad gas mileage.
Does any one know how it performs in city? (Mpg)
I hate the COVID-19 pandemic ☹️
How does the camry le non hybrid gets 50s and up and this only 40?
Toyota witchcraft
City or highway? I understand highway mpg drops.
Is there a specific way to open the gas cap without having to leave the doors unlocked?
there’s a lever in the trunk i think
This is not impressive. Was your driving 100% highway? I get same MPG if not better with 2011 civic
how about city driving ?
Could you test the EX? That trim gets the best fuel economy.
Yes, we'll get an EX or Sport later this year!
I think the Ex will be a bit better and more comfy due to the tire width and a bit less weight.
@@CKPHH I saw a video where someone said that the EX gets the highest fuel economy out of all the new Civic trims, it would be cool to see what the difference is in the real world.
@@CKPHH Agreed
No amount of MPG can fix lackluster & generic looking.
I like it
I have a touring. I drive it around Chicago but not truly in “city” conditions. Always on “Normal” mode, “auto start stop” always off, and never use cruise control/adaptive cruise control, with AC running at 70F with medium levels of fan speed, the car has 510miles, and I get about 20-23 MPG LOL wtf.
Whats your mpg now
@@slowgoat6089 21mpg.
Capless fuel filter lololol

If you care about fuel economy than you buy an insight no?
True but the battery manufacturing is worse for the environment
No. Are you saying people shouldn’t care about fuel economy in an economy car?
Just get a Tesla, no fuel needed
@@bigdavedayday1581 2 hours charging needed, add the cost of Starbucks coffee while waiting.
Insight gets about same highway gas mileage as the civic,it obly shines in city driving.i get 29 in my insight touring going 80mph
🤜🤛👌👍👊👏🙏
Charlie, If people want a compact commuter car and they are too lazy to shift their own gears, they should buy a hybrid. Compared to some of the larger luxury sedans you have been testing lately, 41 mpg is not very impressive for a humble Civic.
I totally agree! I bet the non-Touring models would do a bit better. Similar to how the Touring Accord Hybrid we tested didn't do very well, comparatively.
@@DailyMotor Skinnier tires would give 1 or 2 extra mpg. For a brand new 2022 model, the drivetrain is just not keeping up with the times.
@@rightlanehog3151 I was surprised that the powertrains are essentially carryover. I wonder if they'll change it up in a year or two or just let the 11th gen be the end of ICE Civics.
not really sure what being "too lazy to shift their own gears" has to do with anything. I think over 40mpg for a 3000lb car with 180hp is pretty good.
@@DailyMotor I'll have to stay tuned to Daily Motor for updates.
