I always interpreted it about it being a song about growing up and leaning on your family. "A family of trees" being a clearer reference to the story of The Giving Tree. "Control yourself, take only what you need from it" Mirrors the story of the kid growing older and older and taking more and more from the tree (with the tree representing family.)
I saw the video the first time when i was like 9 and it scared me sooo much and then the song just got stuck in my head and i had to keep thinking about the video and yeah it was bad lol
I always took this song as being about depression The loss of being a bright eyed child and turning into a cynical person only seeing the worst in everything
I always saw it as just being about growing up and losing that childhood innocence but reminding yourself to control yourself and keep balanced and grounded, try to keep that wonder and curiosity of childhood
I very much like to see any, truly, ANY VIDEO from you talking about Jack Stauber I think he’s so weird and unique, also the song Buttercup went viral not long ago
Literally the first song I ever heard. I was 5 when this fire came out. Loved it sooo much and still. But when I'm older now. It's my favorite stoned band. While I'm stoned it's my favorite band to listen too. But when I'm sober it's also my favorite band. Such a underrated band
Actually Andrew writing it for oracular spectacular on the spot is a myth, its been around since 1998-2000. It was officially released on the Time to Pretend EP in 2005 making that its first release outside of burned cds given away at concerts.
A little late, but im honestly shocked that there are so many interpretstions of this song. I actually got the idea that the song was being sang by an absent father who wishes he was still around, afraid he'll be forgotten by the time he enters the child's life again, and hoping to impart some advice or wisdom. The song sounds sad to me, like there is a blissful ignorange (the fun poppy synth) but what its saying - the melodic progression - is regretful, remourseful. The family of trees in want of haunting seems like a call from the child and the father to one another, both having their own families, both feeling incomplete without the other. Tbh i dont really care what the true meaning is anymore, im more engrossed by all the other explanationsnive found
I always thought it was about using psychedelic drugs and just taking what you need from the experience without "overdoing" it, not really sure why I thought that. I assumed "it" to be enlightenment
@@princey_06 a little late - like over a year late - but I think where people get the climate change idea from is by the line "the water is warm, but it's giving me shivers", with the idea clearly being the fact that the water is being heated by global warming which is causing Andrew to become anxious about how the environment is being treated by humans. While it seems as though this one line is the basis for this interpretation, the rest of the song helps add to it. "You pick the insects off of plants, no time to think of consequences" shows that humans intervene in nature in a detrimental way going back to when they are children, which they don't think about because... they're children. This unawareness only continues into adulthood where they make far more harmful decisions than picking insects off plants, but they don't care. "A family of trees wanting to be haunted" has two meanings under this interpretation: 1) This carelessness continues generation to generation, thus a family tree being haunted (or perhaps cursed) to repeat the mistakes of the past. 2) Trees in the environment just sitting there waiting to be haunted by the inevitable intervention of humans.
What if your parents were narcissist and you had to learn as a young child how to be what they expected and you couldn’t be who you are? I think it fits into the song also.

It was a bop as a kid and it m glad 🙂 found some old music from my childhood. Have a playlist on Spotify named “Summer 🤙🏽”
Loved the video! I'm very curious to see an analysis about "Of Moons, Birds & Monsters" of MGMT too, please !
Loved this song since the first time I heard it!
I came across this song on Pandora and I never looked into the lyrics. I just assumed it was about growing up
I replayed this song all the time when i first heard it.
I prefer their other song "time to pretend", but that's just me.
I prefer astro mancy
Still one of my favorite songs

I just got into this song big time... How did you know? 🤔
It’s a wild music video.

I do like this song alot... but the music video is pretty messed up.

Please explain the song/music video Projector by EDEN.
This song has always been a bop.
We need a video for time to pretend
Childhood trauma
Can you doo more songs by them
I think the video is exposing the disgusting pedos in the whole music/Hollywood industries. That's what it interprets to me. Quite expository.
I thought i was a baby (kid) being kidnapped
I see it as child trafficking or adrenochrome
Adrenochrome they are scaring the baby for it
Isn't this song kind of about climate change also?
I saw some people suggesting that online but couldn't find as much conclusive proof.

Can’t be about climate change if that concept is made up and a proven scam.
No, it has a reference to trees and only taking what you need but no. The artist never ever mentioned that in any interview.
First?
Second!
