I think it’s an elegant car, but in 5-10 years all the electronic interface will be hopelessly dated. Too much complexity - the door handles, both exterior and interior, are destined to fail. If Ferrari would offer a “classic” interior package with real gauges and switchgear, this would be a keeper. As produced, it’s tempting to lease one and then dump it before everything breaks and you’re dependent on Ferrari for spares.
Fantastic cars. Done 9k miles in mine. To my surprise I learnt there are only c. 350 UK coupes (fewer than 488 Pista!); looking decent value now and will go a bit lower - but I suspect will stabilise in a year or so as you can't order a new one (even Roma Spider order book now closed in mainland Europe!). I'd say they'll settle at £120-£140k for best cars in a year or two. Most importantly, it's stunning thing to drive - properly fun, but also a great GT / comfortable car.
I agree, I've done 5k miles in mine since April, the majority of these have been on European trips to the Alps and its been brilliant compared to my previous Porsche 992. Every drive feels special and we've been amazed by the positive reaction to the Roma on our trips. For me the Roma is my dream car!
The Car Guys, and principally Damian, is now officially the best Ferrari reviewer on YT. Not in awe of the brand but simply lays it out as it is. Brilliant.
literally checked yesterday thinking, where have the boys been, its been a month... and the very next day... taaaadaaaa.... loving your content how your videos have become better and better with time... (p.s 11:13, you didnt give much space did ya, lol)
I specced a new one of these. Drove it twice, and sold it. So many issues, so many: Ergonomics (including seat design and footrest position), electrics/touch buttons not working, infotainment system, seat comfort, performance, interior design, windscreen glare.
I took delivery of my Roma in May. Loving it. Only have 655 miles on it, but wow, such a great daily driver. It’s dialed in when it needs to be, has plenty of power and is gorgeous to look at. Hopefully it doesn’t drop too much in value as the car wasn’t cheap. With that being said, i have no plans in selling it. Great review. Keep them coming.
650 miles in 8 months! Doesn’t seem like you really like it. The Roma doesn’t have much from a real Ferrari, it will age badly and never be a classic like the 458 or the F12. Take it on the road…
Had mine since April 23, 2.5k and love it. The tech is not to everyone's taste but once set up and with some drive time works well. More sports car than GT and more new age than classic! It gets enough attention even though it's more subtle than a supercar, depends what you want. It's not perfect but if I'd wanted 'straight out of the box' all working and easy to use I would have gone German. With its power train, manettino and tech every day's a school day with plenty of years ahead to learn and enjoy!
Hi, looking at buying one right now, £135k 3 years old. I really love the look and interior of the car. I feel the price is now perfect but still not pulled the trigger! Any advice sincerely appreciated. (It done 13’ miles)
My favourite comment from your previous video on the Roma was when you parked it up at a Marina for a few hours and mentioned that not one person stopped to look at it. Kinda sums up the Roma for me. All the best for 2024 to you and Jason. Cheers!
Re the door electronic button. I think you will find there is an emergency release button in the door. Do not try it as it has to be reset by Ferrari. The worst haptic button is just below the left indicator button, when you want to turn left , quite often you end up swiping the button by accident when reaching for the indicator button and the lady asks you “what you would you would like to do”. It’s so annoying. The car is a touring car, and you can cram lots in it behind the seats.
I would argue that is Damian's secret weapon...being unapologetic for his honesty! We might not agree but that doesn't make Damian wrong as long per say, as he is being objective as possible...considering said burning bridges? I really respect that the most about Damian.
During my life I have only wanted 3 Ferraris. I grow up idoling the F40 and the F355 and as an adult I always wanted the F12. But since the Roma was presented it have been added to the list.
The dealer loaned me a Roma for a w/e, while waiting for my F8. I loved it! More power than I expected, great transmission, beautiful body! A bit like a side boo!
I know you get disillusioned with RUclips and whinge about viewing figures etc, but this series is one of my favourites on here! I'm unlikely to ever drive a Ferrari, let alone own one, and you really give a detailed idea of what it must be like.
That digital interface is a no go for me. I would stay with the older NA variants of front engine tourers. I also do not like the digital dials BUT these look extra high quality, looks OK. :-)
Great review. You are right, it's more of a GT, and understated, but a Ferrari in name, therefore also in heart. The blue makes it even more understated but elegant in its simplicity.
I was finding it mind-boggling how Damian found such wonderful weather for filming in recent months…..and then I realised…. For me I need my Ferrari to be many things so am always drawn to the GT models. I did strongly consider the Roma, but now have an F12.
Thanks for the nice review. I have been waiting for the Roma I ordered for over a year now and have been watching all the RUclips for videos about the Roma😉. I just don't understand the comment about the centre console/"IPad". Because you see your Apple CarPlay on there, this screen and 2nd navigation always goes with the times. It will be my daily car as a successor to my Porsche 992, in my eyes such a screen really belongs there then.
I am always baffeled how big manufacturers can get ergonomics so wrong as in this case with the tiny tablet icons. You should think that with their development budgets and manpower, they would come up with better solutions and that this kind of stuff would be axed in testing at the latest. Anyway. What I cant agree with is your comments on the looks. I agree that it is subtly elegant instead of dramatic but imho your perspective is a bit spoiled because you are so often surrounded by so many fantastic supercars. To us regular folk driving around in small Mazdas and old Golfs, the Roma does indeed stand out quite dramatically in a parking lot next to our humble daily drivers that cost as much as the Romas door mirrors. 🤣
Glad to see another one of your Drive Every Ferrari videos. Nice car, but I am not quite taken by the looks. I think I would tend towards a Ferrari Portofino.
Happy New Year Mr. B. I hope you’ve had a fantastic Christmas. I’ve been in Tenerife for 2 weeks, a 14-Day Vodka Frenzy, a one way ticket to Seshlihem, with a Nod to Bolivia……. The Roma - I’ll be honest, it seems a little complex to Me. Is it a GT? I’m not sold on the looks either. Side Slip Control 3, Haptic +, F1 Track……….a far cry from my old MKII 1600 Sport Escort, first car I owned. I like the 3.9 V8 TT But let’s be straight it’s 4 years on from the C7 RS6 Performance engine and is no more powerful than the Audi Lump. Knowing you, albeit from this media platform when you 2 started out, this car isn’t one you’d settle with in the collection. What do I know though………😊
Ahh I do like these reviews - HNY and thank you! 😊 A manual Roma with less assistive tech, and maybe buttons instead of that middle screen would be the perfect Ferrari for me.
Eyes on the road comes from physical buttons you know the location of and can operate through feel. What modern manufacturers are presenting you with is menus to navigate. Navigating the menu means not navigating round the car that just pulled out in front of you.
Great car. You’re right that the shape is a bit nonny but it is handsome. Depreciation starting to hit it really hard, so it may be good buy in a few years time.
It is "kind of" good looking & curvaceous, but as you say, in a very generic coupe style, a bit too close to the F type maybe (although I've not seen them parked side to side yet). I'm sure it will attract some buyers, but if it was my money I'd be looking at a 911 Turbo S in that market segment. Looking up market to the 296 on the other hand, that's got the Ferrari magic to my eyes.
Nice green 5711..❤ as always nice and honest video! Would take a GT4 Lusso over it. Same „ish“ price but much more emotional because of the V12. I can feel the „boringness“ of you when driving this car. No feeling in the steering is a no go for any Ferrari!!
Whilst the passenger display is a nice gimmick I have two problems with it. Firstly if anybody can see how fast you are going especially in a Ferrari, they’re going to be saying oh look how fast you are going you can only drive 30 down here or whatever. Secondly I don’t like the fact that they can interact with things the stereo et cetera.I’m reaching for the ejector seat button if somebody so much as moves the passenger air vent by 1 mm against what I have it set at. The thought of somebody being able to change the stereo and all that lot makes my eyes twitch like Dreyfus in the pink panther.
As ever a thoroughly honest and comprehensive review…independent 👏👏👏..would be interested to see and hear your thoughts on this against the DB12 as an alternative
That sounds like a delivery van in reverse. I could not live with that. I remember owning a Toyota Supra VVTI model that pinged in reverse, I took the fuse out, fixed. The paint around those door handles will get marked up very easily. It’s better than a M car I can’t say much more…
Ha - after hearing your intro - I’ve been looking/chasing a 911 turbo s as an upgrade for my 991.2 4s. But I’m very pissed at the situation as the Porsche market has been ruining by speculators. So, I’m keen to abandon the Porsche brand after 40 years of owning them. I think this might do the trick…now back to your video!
"There's no button to close the boot you have to do it yourself and sometimes you wack your hand when closing it!" Oh dear, the world is coming to an end! lol
I still dont understand why the Ferrari designers designed a car that looks almost identical to current Aston Martins, a non car fan would struggle to distinguish their silhouettes
No one's putting kids in this thing. Ever. Agree 100% about the screwy tablet in the middle. Looks like they plopped a Blackberry on the dash. 😛And with all the digital bullshit in these cars, there should be a digital rear view mirror since you can't see out the back well.
I like the exterior, except for certain features that make it look fussy and that only gets worse in the interior, which I hate. All those screens, bells and whistles are overcomplicating its task, which in my view is to get you from A to B rapidly, stylishly and in comfort. If you'd ask me to define a sweet spot for a sports GT, I'd say around 400 bhp and Nm with a weight of around 1400 kg. Highest quality comfortable leather interior and two large dials in front of you for speed and revs and a center console with knobs and switches. No screens. I watch too many screens already and I want my GT experience to be an escape from that. Am I alone in thinking this way or am I just getting old?
Thank you Damian for a thoughtful review. The question is whether you would trade in your 911 for one? I have a 991.2 which is a great workhorse (and 3 Ferraris of various vintages). No doubt that the Roma is better than the 991.2 in many ways, although I really like mine, but it is less practical. However the price of the Roma is significantly more, so I cant help thinking, let’s stick with the 911, and get our Ferrari thrills with a more exotic model.
Wanting a car, desiring a car - all comes down to the looks. If a car can't get past that first hurdle, nobody will buy it. However fast, noisy, comfortable, capable, value, special, fun it might be to drive. If it doesn't look great, its a loser.
OMG Damian, you are not going to buy one as a daily driver, but we knew that before the video even started, in fact it doesn't even make sense for the Billionaire's wife who will have a RR, Bentley or a Cayenne
Sadly, it just doesn’t do it for me. Originally destined to be the Maserati Alfera, but again design “nicked” by Ferrari. External design needs more “Ferrari” such as circular rear lights and the front egg shell grill should be slats. The awful tablet is more RadioShack than iPad… I’m sticking with my California T thanks, as it does more or less the same for 50% of money. 😉
@@TheCarGuysTV ..having said that I took the Cali around Silverstone and it was embarrassing… far too top heavy with all that roof mechanism acting as a dead weight pendulum. Best sticking to grand tours in Europe me thinks 🤨. Luckily I have McLaren 570 spider to tool around in on track, as too, and like you a GR Yaris which £ per £ is best value car available today….. you need an update on yours perhaps 😉
Great to see you back Damian, Happy New Year! ☺️ This particular Ferrari model doesn't attract me at all, so many stupid design features like door handles, absurb stop-start (!) horrible tablet and other electronic crap. ('Control room at Chernobyl' was you at your satiric best! 😂) Too expensive, too cramped and not that fast (by their stratospheric standards) either...& I just don't think it's that pretty? Not for me. 😒 Great vid though Sir! 👍🏻
The control panel from Chernobyl, 😂. Looks a cross between a jag and an Aston. Wouldn’t say no to one, but give me a 355 or testarossa any day of the week.
Sorry, but if you drive a frigging Ferrari and 2/3rd is about the controls, the buttons and the Ipad in the middle, it's just not a good car. A Ferrari should be stepping in, starting that glorious engine and enjoy a drive you wish would never end. What a letdown. Especially for such a gorgeous Astomrari 😉
Wait 2-3 years and pick one of them up for well below 100k. 2+2 Ferraris devalue like milk. Edit: I don't think ANY car should have its front grill painted in body colour.
14:20 that's one "driver feel and involvement" nobody needs. PLENTY of other feels and involvements taking place to care about garbage like shifting gears.
For me, there is nothing to like about the Roma. The front of the car is odd. The side is oddly bulbous. The rear doesn't work, except for the quad pipes. As more stuff like this is released the more I gravitate towards older cars. Someone's going to have to pry my Scuderia from my cold, dead hands.
It's not for me. I like the side profile which is elegant and the engine sounds great, but from the front or rear it looks clumsy and ill considered, and the interior is dreadful
I really love to Design of the car. But the inside is reqlly not for me. Those Touch controls on the steering wheel would be a NoGo for me. And having that big Tablet in the middle without Media or Navigation also. But i because i could not afford one, it doesnt matter at all. Thanks for the Review
@@TheCarGuysTV fwiw I have a Lusso and recently had a loan of a 296. As good as it is, the haptic controls really spoil the experience. I can live with most of it but heater controls and other essentials manufacturers need to step away from their starship enterprise fantasies. Even the voice control couldn’t be relied on for basic things in the 296! Happy with my buttons and knobs on the Lusso 🥳

As produced, it’s tempting to lease one and then dump it before everything breaks and you’re dependent on Ferrari for spares.
I agree - with Ferrari, Porsche etc you can customize everything, so why not an "analog package"?
Classic package is a bloody good idea. And it would sell like hotcakes
At this price point, owners can afford this Ferrari and another new Ferrari 3-4 years later
Great idea on the classic pack
I'm light of the OP.
It's a car worth skipping.
This thing would drive me to drink.

That's sad to hear but I feel like overly technological cars are still not executed well and are more nuisance than it's worth
All would be forgiven if they put a v12 in it but that would outshine the 812…

This car reminds me of the Daytona which became legendary after Miami Vice. It’s a sleeper and definitely with it especially the convertible.

Good looking car on the outside. But a future classic? No. For that money, with all that power it needs an interior with the help of Rolex not Casio.
Happy new year lads 😊
Same to you!
I agree, Gavin
In which way is the Ferrari really better? Compared to a 991 Turbo or GT3
The Ferrari Roma is not pretty, but elegant, and thats it...the only attribute is has is this one, elegance.
Wanting a car, desiring a car - all comes down to the looks. If a car can't get past that first hurdle, nobody will buy it. However fast, noisy, comfortable, capable, value, special, fun it might be to drive. If it doesn't look great, its a loser.
Seems like someone from Tesla got a job at Ferrari
Is it just me …. Is the overall exterior styling reminiscent of an F Type?
Magnifique! S'il vous plais - beuacoup de Car Guys dans le 2024! Merci!
👍🏻👍🏻
OMG Damian, you are not going to buy one as a daily driver, but we knew that before the video even started, in fact it doesn't even make sense for the Billionaire's wife who will have a RR, Bentley or a Cayenne
🤔 And when exactly did it make any sense for any person to buy and drive a Ferrari , or any other over priced super sports car 🚙 ?.
that is actually a different proposition if they are not daily drivers
Sadly, it just doesn’t do it for me. Originally destined to be the Maserati Alfera, but again design “nicked” by Ferrari. External design needs more “Ferrari” such as circular rear lights and the front egg shell grill should be slats. The awful tablet is more RadioShack than iPad… I’m sticking with my California T thanks, as it does more or less the same for 50% of money. 😉
I can see why you would, Jonathan
Thank you very much - awesome comments
The control panel from Chernobyl, 😂. Looks a cross between a jag and an Aston. Wouldn’t say no to one, but give me a 355 or testarossa any day of the week.
Sorry, but if you drive a frigging Ferrari and 2/3rd is about the controls, the buttons and the Ipad in the middle, it's just not a good car.
A Ferrari should be stepping in, starting that glorious engine and enjoy a drive you wish would never end.
What a letdown. Especially for such a gorgeous Astomrari 😉
That car coming the opposite way at 11:14 was a little close for comfort 😅
The GoPro lens makes it look closer than it was
Na Tony from Gravelwood loves em. Best avoid.
Its funny, the new Ferraris look like Corvettes, and the new Corvettes look like Ferraris😮
11:14 That was a close call!
Too ‘PlayStation’ for me. 911s just don’t have so many dodgy elements.
I think it's very elegant but not one I'd want to buy
Wait 2-3 years and pick one of them up for well below 100k. 2+2 Ferraris devalue like milk. Edit: I don't think ANY car should have its front grill painted in body colour.
14:20 that's one "driver feel and involvement" nobody needs. PLENTY of other feels and involvements taking place to care about garbage like shifting gears.
For me, there is nothing to like about the Roma. The front of the car is odd. The side is oddly bulbous. The rear doesn't work, except for the quad pipes. As more stuff like this is released the more I gravitate towards older cars. Someone's going to have to pry my Scuderia from my cold, dead hands.
i really liked her for the beginning
It's not for me. I like the side profile which is elegant and the engine sounds great, but from the front or rear it looks clumsy and ill considered, and the interior is dreadful
I really love to Design of the car. But the inside is reqlly not for me. Those Touch controls on the steering wheel would be a NoGo for me. And having that big Tablet in the middle without Media or Navigation also. But i because i could not afford one, it doesnt matter at all. Thanks for the Review
Strong Nautilus game
You noticed
@@TheCarGuysTV fwiw I have a Lusso and recently had a loan of a 296. As good as it is, the haptic controls really spoil the experience. I can live with most of it but heater controls and other essentials manufacturers need to step away from their starship enterprise fantasies. Even the voice control couldn’t be relied on for basic things in the 296! Happy with my buttons and knobs on the Lusso 🥳
Happy New Year guys 😊
