    FAQs/Why would they do that?! Answers
    We are so glad you are here! Welcome to our channel!
    1. We are in Oklahoma near the Arkansas border.
    2. We do this on a volunteer basis.
    3. Kim aka Mom is retired. Jennifer owns her own business as a massage therapist.
    4. We film multiple locations in one day since we can’t go out all the time given Jen’s full time job. You may not see all the locations we filmed that day in one video.
    5. You may see other people in our videos at times including Granny aka Sue (mom’s mom), Jeff (Kim’s husband and Jennifer’s dad), or Jessica (Jennifer’s little sister) and Lucy (our beautiful, amazing, wonderful dog).
    6. Many wonder why we put stuff down culverts. A few reasons: it provides help for wildlife, we like to and it would have gone downstream anyway. If it blocks another culvert then we will take care of that too but most of the locations we visit are in incredibly rural areas where there won’t be another culvert for miles.
    7. We care about wildlife and never want to cause harm to them. The only reason we will clear a beaver damn is if it is threatening land or roads that can not be accessed any other way. It may not be the road directly within sight but a farm road close by.
    8. We appreciate advice in the comments. We understand that we will receive constructive criticism in the comments. What we won’t allow is the calling of names, derogatory terms, or just plain calling us stupid or idiots. We are all adults here and the internet is already a largely negative place as it is, let’s not add to it. We are people doing our best to help our neighborhood and planet by picking up trash and clearing culverts. Why do we deserve hate for that?
    9. You may not agree with or like the way we did something but that doesn’t mean we did it wrong. There is a right/wrong way to dismantle a bomb. Clearing culverts is up for interpretation to the one doing the work.
    10. We hope that you enjoy our videos and will keep coming back for more! Any other questions you have feel free to ask in the comments.

    We have had tons of comments about picking up trash, we replied to some but we are just going to give a reply to all here. We do pick up trash but that isn’t what our channel is actually about and lots of that taking up screen time isn’t super exciting so we generally do it after the culvert is done. If we get too much trash we have to leave it because we only have so much room in the pickup to haul bags. Hope that answers the many questions on it.

      That's awesome! First of all to all the people who are complaining about whether or not you are picking up the garbage, Are you out picking it up where you live? Or just sitting in front of the computer bitching and complaining being keyboard warriors! it is NOT THEIR JOB to do that just like it isn't THEIR job to clear the culverts! That is the county's job! but they are obviously not worried about it! What these women do for their county is incredible taking time out of their lives not being paid for it when they should be! Keep up the great work Jen and Momma!

      Does the county come and remove the tree branches and debris ever? Or does it just wash back into the ditches ?

    Totally just a suggestion. I am not complaining or picking. If you ladies are clearing out a ditch try to rake the debris to the opposite side of the road. When it rains again with the way roads are designed it will just end right back up in the ditch. I know that may not always be an option. At least if you CAN rake back into the wooded area it’s less likely to be as easily pushed back into the ditch. But you both are doing a great job. Clearly others don’t seem to care. Keeping these culverts & ditches open help preserve the road ways & make them safe to drive on. For the love of God people…..the side of roadways & an open window is NOT how you discard your beer cans, bottles & trash. 🙄. Stay safe ladies. Great work! Poor fur babies. There is a special place for any humans who abandon animals. ❤❤.

    Regarding the metal culverts that are bashed in and blocking the flow. Have you considered a digging bar? It's about 72 inches and all metal for prying open the culverts. They are available at Ace, Walmart, or your local hardware store. It might be a bit heavy, but you would not use it all the time. It's long enough to give you leverage on those pesky bent ends. Just a suggestion.

  • @colleenellis-turco659
    @colleenellis-turco659 Месяц назад +1

    Another suggestion, when the ground is less frozen, would you be able to put a painted marker stick where some of those openings are so you can find them easier when the area is flooded? You are doing great work otherwise!!!!!!!!!!

      Flagging tape. If they find what color who ever suppose to maintain the road to let them know, hey culvert is here and needs attention. On one of post 10 videos the beaver trapper if I remember the color right it's blue and red. That way the road maintainer keeps an eye on, the trapper history of beaver to trap or relocate

      Or just have a Yellow 🟡 Paint Spray Can and then paint your lines and then even the Driveway of where it starts on the Blacktop and it doesn't have to be a Great Big Line but the paint is a Summer time job and then also need to get a Fiberglass pole to poke the ground to get a better idea of where it might be and then how deep it is, but having Full body Waders helps with that....

    WOW! There is so much trash. I wish people cared more about their community and nature like you do. :( In my area county in Tennessee the Sheriffs Dept has a road clean up crew of inmates that volunteer to walk the roads but there isn't a whole lot for them to pick up. The ones that are caught by residents post them over social media....lol

    I was wondering do you guys still pick up the trash you see? In your past videos your Mom was way on top of it but now it seems like you really kinda ignore it. I know there must be a lot of litter out there you see...and it can be overwhelming..... But for all of us watching could you pick more of it up...as for me if I could be out there with you I would do it. Keep the great videos coming.

      A lot of times we pick it up after we are done with the culvert cause picking up trash isn’t necessarily what ppl watch our channel for. Granny does a lot of it when she is here. If it’s really big item we have to leave it. And if we have picked up a lot that day, we only have so much room in the truck to haul garage bags so we have to stop because of that to.

    • @ghok116
      @ghok116 Месяц назад

      Thank you for your reply. Yes, people just suck... They just need to leave their trash in their car. I think that if your name can be found on any of the trash dumped somewhere that they should have to pay a fine for littering.

    You guys do a good job. But this video stressed me out more than anything lol. Besides raking the leaves back on the road where the flow right back in and leaving big logs on the side as well. What was the most stressful was watching the potato rake basically barely dipped in the water scraping off the surface instead of getting right down in there tearing leaves out in front of the culvert. It was almost like you were just playing with the surface of the water Instead of getting down at the base of the culvert

      County areas don’t always have trash pickup so ppl have to haul it to dumpsters themselves. When it’s in the back of pickups it tends to fly out. This road was also a very heavy traffic from visitors and tourists and they don’t always show respect for the beauty of the area.
