- Crazy high winds from Hurricane Helene didn't stop us from heading out to Church rummage sales. Our hearts go out to those who have experienced loss and devastation. We experienced a power outage for 4 days but that's nothing compared to many who lost their homes and businesses. I'm releasing this video as its the only one I was able to work on during the outage and is meant to be a brief break from the stress many are experiencing. Love to all, Vickie & Mark

I live in Bradenton now! I've lived here for 8 years! What a coincidence. The island is devastated. Coquino Beach is gone along with the road. Longboat Key is in bad shape, too! How funny you used to live in Bradenton, too!
I live in Bradenton from 1979 to 1984. The reports everywhere just keep getting worse and worse.

16:32 seems pricing often depends on who priced it… for $1 ea I’d have bought these critters for my walls - they were embossed & so stinkin’ cute!
45:18 this kitchen bowl w/ the brown stripe - I had one I used often & I recently broke it - would’ve bought this one as a replacement.
I’m sure there’s more I would’ve gotten into trouble with but just wanted to share a little of my thoughts on “our” shopping trip. Thx again for taking us along!

I guess the church wanted to keep their Christmas items for another sale. At those prices, they won’t have many buyers. They must be taking cues from Goodwill with their pricing.

I live on the west coast of Florida. The devastation here is terrible. I live 10 miles from the ocean and Anna Marie Island . My poor island was ruined by this hurricane! Luckily my home had only minor damage. The prices at that church sale were outrageous!
Oh, Maxine I so understand. Anna Marie Island is beautiful. Not only did I vacation there as a teen, I lived in Bradenton for 10 years and loved Anna Maria Island. I remember several hurricanes when I lived there. I am glad to hear that you are okay and your home has only minor damage.

I was there also before 8am and they let us in early. I had no idea when I was there shopping in the wind and rain the destruction that was going on in Erwin and North Carolina. So sad for our region! We lost power for 36 hours but that was nothing compared to what so many lost.
Us too. Had no idea how devastating the hurricane was for our neighboring states. We've gone through and stopped in almost every town affected. I agree. Four days without power was nothing. We did have a generator and that helped save our freezer and fridge food. Thanks, Kristy! Glad you're okay!

Yes, pricey. Plus, we were a little bit late and we heard that because of the wind and rain, they let people in early. That’s why some of the tables were so picked over. That’s OK, we found some things at both church sales to resell and we often walk away from things now, if they’re just not worth it.

No, Linda thrifting is NOT my drug. As much as I enjoy it, if it was a “drug” I’d be thrifting daily or multiple times a week, like many RUclipsrs do, and you’d see more videos. As it is, I thrift about 4-6 days out of 30. And I enjoy connecting with the people that I see while thrifting.
I could see the first part of your comment as a joke, but the last part was just plain rude. Interesting to know your real thoughts about us and what we should “just” do in our retirement.
