People who spend $1449 probably don't have any issue paying for a fast charger if they want it. Also, if you have an ipad or a newer macbook (with usb c) you already got the brick. For the ipad you can use the same cable, and for the macbook charger you just need a usb-c to lightning cable, which most people would get anyway. Chances are, if you buy one apple product, you most definitely have another one, especially if you buy the most expensive version. Edit: That being said, I personally don't need a fast charger at all. I have not had my xs below 30% battery at the end of a full day. I charge all my stuff when I sleep, and never really have to think about it at any other time.

@DK2342 not an adapter, but a cable. Anybody that owns a current macbook probably got that cable already. It's a good way to use your macbook as a powerbank for long trips or if you want a stable internet connection when internet sharing from your phone. Many uses for that cable.
As an app developer myself (iOS & Android), I can tell you for a fact that the reason that Facebook Pages doesn't show in the share sheet is that the dev didn't include a Share Extension is their app. Fun fact... Share extensions are a pain to implement because they're packaged separately from the main app (for security reasons), they also don't have access to most systems/functions included in said app, meaning that some times entire systems need to be rebuilt to work in/as an extension. In contrast, Android share intents are pretty simple, they're normal activities that just have a bit of extra code to get the image/text/whatever you're trying to share from the intent.
Apple could work with Facebook on getting that made if there was a real demand. Two companies working together to make a good product has definitely not been unprecedented, especially when those two companies are not rivals within market.

@@anapartyrock I upgraded from the 6 to the XS last week, and it was honestly a great decision. It was time for a new phone for me (my 6 was all kinds of fucked up), and the XS has been great. The thing to keep in mind when watching reviews like these, is the reviewers are always constantly using the newest phones. They'll use the new iPhone for a couple of weeks, then the new Samsung for a couple of weeks, and they keep switching. As someone that had the 6 for three or four years, the XS has been well worth the upgrade.

I had the iphone 6s for 4 years and switched to the Samsung s8, I have no regrets. There's no way I'm paying for a flagship that's over 1000 and with no real improvements
Did the same and bought an iPhone a year later. s8 got terrible slow and clunky, couldn't take it anymore. I also couldn't be happy with the Xs that I've had since September. Just wait, I was happy with my s8 too in the beginning.

I dont usually do comments on video but I completely agree with you Linus. Me myself being an apple fan, I found myself trying very hard to find an excuse to go back to Apple. Apple was ahead in everything when Jobs was here, he wanted everything to be perfect. the iOS stability was light years ahead of andriod, theyre always the one annoucing new technologies. Now? iOS being a more stable software, Andriod phones has already passed iPhones performance by using better hardware, when Apple decided to toss away their advantage to the point that they are now behind!! Wireless charging was announced for years on Andriods and Apple announced on iPhone 8, claiming its a NEW feature. Fast charge is still not included in box when a $300 phone would come with it. Not to mention their own wireless charger when Razer can annouce it together with their new Razer Phone 2. From being a leader of the industry to now a follower as you said, and theyre not even doing a good job following. AND they decided to charge more than everyone else for outdated techs. For those whos probably gonna say im butthurt, im actually very sad. I loved my iPhone and to see Apple continously going down and still think they can charge more because of their fan base, makes me very disappointed. Not to mention when apple is late to smart speaker market and decided to charge 5x more than google and amazon..Every year i hope apple can impress me and ill jump back into the brand right away, but they didnt. Android manufacters using better Hardware is simply not true. The iPhone Xs is assembled out of pretty much the best Hardware you can get right now. Its true though that apples innovations in the phone department have increasingly slowed down since the iphone 4. But i guess that its rather the industry itself that has settled and focuses more on incremental updates. Weve just come to a point where its really hard to innovate. We have 7nm chips in iPhones while desktops are still stuck with 14nm, we have high ppi oled screens with great color reproduction, we fold those screens so there is no chins at the bottom, we have things like great speakers, great haptic feedback etc. Really hard to make revolutionary improvement on those. Thats why apple has focused its big innovations on the apple watch because theres still a lot of innovation to be seen in the smart watch department.

For everyone who wants to read the text at 1:44 (all typing errors are copied, I didn't fix anything)(took me about 50 minutes, you're welcome)(contains spoilers for the video) iPhone X's - even apple is bored or even apple hates the iPhone X's Title: Apple finally did it. Opening: they made the phone that even they couldn't care about. It risks nothing. Almost immediately after opening the box I began missing my note 9. Bigger screen, more subtle rounding of the corners, and oooh... Right... When I slid out the SIM tray, no expandable storage. I talked about this in my note 9 review. The remarkable thing about that phone is the zero compromises nature of it sbug, and it's expensive, but other than a lackluster commitment to software support - something Samsung needs to fix - it gives up nothing. By contrast, I haven't even installed my first app and I'm pulling the stupid headphone dongle out of the box.. And staring at what now looks like a MASSIVE notch in late 2018. The iPhone 6 design was maintained for four generations and didn't look dated until the 3rd or 4th when Samsung launched the S8 and S8 plus. That's how far ahead apple was. The iPhone xs already looks like an old phone due to. How fast display technology is moving right now. The other alarming thing staying here is that Samsung is not only failing to lead in terms of design friends, they are becoming a follower and a slow one at that when it comes to industry trends. - first, Apple failed to lead on the trend of having two different sizes for each flagship generation, then they manage to miss participating in the large phablet sized category for an entire generation of product. With all of the resources and employees they have it there disposal it really raises the question what were they doing for an entire year. I mean obviously the software team has been busu but have the hardware guys basically just been trying to figure out how to cost down the iPhone 10? Why are there extra stupid hoops to jump through to use my Google accounts for stuff? I had to enter my full email, password and authentication key 4 fucking times on a phone I was restoring via icloud - Twitch when prompted by notification spam sending me to the settings menu, again when I opened the Gmail app, and a 4th time when I installed this new(?) Google authentication app that for some reason had a picture of my model of yubikey for the security key option but it doesn't seem to work with mine.. Looks like part of my frustration was not knowing lastpass finally supports auto-filling apps with ios 12! Yay! Also the yubikey worked fine for that. Turns out I still hate the lack of back button... gesture DOES work in most cases but it requires a really clear swipe from the edge, which is really hard to reach on such a big phone. - going back to inbox from a gmail message - going back from forum post on browser (so far to left hard to reach) - going back from view count in studio app Why is apple letting other innovate on Face ID and do it better. The aoppo Rind X lets u swipe anywhere on the screen rather than at the bottom to activate its Face ID. Apple doesn't allow this and its touch ergonomically to hold such a heavy phone at the bottom Need to be fair to apple. Can't just pick and choose certain elements of one android phone and another and be like "android is superior" when there's no single device that brings it all together the way apple does - at least that's what used to be true. Now there's the note 9 - also pixel 3 is coming... Camera processing is not reliable. Basically just don't trust AI image processing. Pictures from sept 26 have some goog examples. Would be nice if it grabbed an unaltered shot for safety.... Need to look into front camera junk too. General camera stuff - it's kind of stupid to expect that every power user will use a 3rd party app. I get the included one is supposed to be one touch dead simple any idiot can do it.. but these kinds of heavy processing techniques have long been included on competitors devices with major ones like Samsung even enabling them by default- but they are much more transparent and allow much of the processing to be disabled. so the response is.. turn it to 11 and lock it there? What are you doing?? By the time I post this video apple may have patched themselves out of this mess.. but that's not the problem. The problem is a philosophical one. Apple has traditionally taken the position that they know what their users want/better than their users. But I wonder if maybe they don't anymore.. this kind of misstep is strong evidence of that. - my expectation from apples camera is less gimmicky nonsense and superior simplicity and colour science. Now there are so many modes they don't all fit on the screen anymore including incredibly unnecessary square and they're processing 4 teeth out of 2... why? Who is asking for this? Definitely more used the gesture based navigation grom playing around with it on the (nex s or find x???) and OnePlus6.. and it's fine. But my issue continues to be the choice. Note 9 typically around 30-40 by that point (battery issue has gone away for now..). WhatsApp integration, yea! - setup takes literally 1/10 the time. No app to download or anything. Just plug in and go. - with that said, screenshot sharing is bizarre. Auto captures extended display and auto shares that too if you try to send to someone. Nice to have the option, but Probably most people wouldn't prefer that to be the default behaviour. - maybe spoke too soon. Completely game breaking bug in voice dictation in google maps while playing music in google play music. - also it's pretty goddamn annoying that if you open maps on the dashboard it takes over your phone screen. The passenger car play user scenario hasn't been as carefully considered as I thought. 2nd day ran out of battery around 11 Realized that I could do a gag video showing people the new iPhone Xs on the street and it's and iPhone X and they'd have no way of knowing without digging onto the system settings. Did apple even bother to do a new colour this year?? (Actually need to find out)

I'd pay linus to go after snapchat about how they screw over android users by using screen capture instead of the actual camera. It's super irritating listening to my apple fanboy friends and family telling me android is trash just because of this simple thing that if i try and explain to them they just look at me like i just need to shut up.
Nonetheless Snapchat's Android app has been updated to use the phone's own exposure and focus now, so picture quality looks pretty stellar now. Only thing is low light videos can get choppy to compensate for the higher exposure. Other than that Snapchat runs nearly identical on my LG V35 and iPhone X

My rig can probably run games much better than that laptop. My rig has a ryzen 5 and rx 580 and it runs battlefield 1 at 4k60fps with other programs open in the background and it doesn't overheat.
i'm going to explain it to you why phones are so expensive. basically engineering.. Let me ask you a question, can you fit a computers GPU inside a phone? No, you can't cause it's way too big. They have to make the Motherboard, Cpu, Gpu, RAM and battery very small so it can fit inside the phone but it's very expensive to make something smaller. Another question, can you fit your PC inside your pocket? And by the way, the fastest phone on the market is a $750 phone called iPhone XR and the Note 9 which is $1000 can't run a cartoon game it advertised with it (Fortnite).. Samsung is falsely advertising and people still buy it.

I literally use SQUARE PHOTO all of the time. Vertical photos look bad and twisting my iPhone is annoying. Squares are consistently aesthetically pleasing and easier to frame a good shot especially if you have GRID turned on.

Way of saving screenshot reminds me of one joke. Do you know how your mom saves Word documents? She will push power button and then it will ask then if she wants to save it before shutting down. This kind of logic. How on earth exiting unsaved anything is intuitive way of saving it?
because rolling back in version control is even harder for common users, most of the times people tends to make mistakes and don't know where to restart, making changes "unsave" as default will leave the decision to the user. (Of course with power users we don't care much about saving wrong stuff as we all can just undo what we did by ourselves)
How the hell has being able to click a universally recognized save icon or using a drop down menu for past versions devolved to a feature for "power users" how do "common users" fucking function.
Because he basically lied in the video. There’s a DONE option in the top left corner of the screenshot window. It allows you to save or discard the picture. You don’t need to exit out of anything
You only have to confirm if you’ve opened the edit menu. If you’re fine with saving the screenshot as-is, just swipe it away or leave it alone and it’ll go away by itself.
Tanner Tousey when you take a screenshot on an iOS device, you are taken to the screenshot window where you can edit and mark up the photo right away. Once you’re DONE, you press the DONE button. If you don’t want to do anything with it, you press the same button and save/discard the picture. How is this difficult to comprehend? 🤷🏼♂️

The iPhone 12 will be the same, nothing will be “revolutionary” brother, smartphones are smartphones. And some smartphones are faster, quicker downloading, have better cameras, etc than others. Nothing will “feel” different typing on RUclips.

This is because OS 9 devices (being PowerPC) are not compatible with OS X (x86-64), and because Apple expressly forbids installation on non Apple devices.

I dont care about that tech giants think how thin hardware is 'better'. Make it as thick as an old Nokia phone for more battery and better camera. Probably room for a better hardened shell around the phone too

Honestly I just want an _okay_ camera on a phone with two speakers and a mic on the top and bottom of the phone. Fingerprint biometrics are a plus but I can cope with putting in a simple passphrase every time.
After moving to the iPhone XS Max from my galaxy s9 I can say truthfully iOS is just so much better than any android OS in my opinion it’s worth it even if Samsung has higher resolution screens or better cameras

People who spend $1449 probably don't have any issue paying for a fast charger if they want it. Also, if you have an ipad or a newer macbook (with usb c) you already got the brick. For the ipad you can use the same cable, and for the macbook charger you just need a usb-c to lightning cable, which most people would get anyway. Chances are, if you buy one apple product, you most definitely have another one, especially if you buy the most expensive version.
Edit: That being said, I personally don't need a fast charger at all. I have not had my xs below 30% battery at the end of a full day. I charge all my stuff when I sleep, and never really have to think about it at any other time.

@DK2342 not an adapter, but a cable. Anybody that owns a current macbook probably got that cable already. It's a good way to use your macbook as a powerbank for long trips or if you want a stable internet connection when internet sharing from your phone. Many uses for that cable.
As an app developer myself (iOS & Android), I can tell you for a fact that the reason that Facebook Pages doesn't show in the share sheet is that the dev didn't include a Share Extension is their app.
Fun fact... Share extensions are a pain to implement because they're packaged separately from the main app (for security reasons), they also don't have access to most systems/functions included in said app, meaning that some times entire systems need to be rebuilt to work in/as an extension. In contrast, Android share intents are pretty simple, they're normal activities that just have a bit of extra code to get the image/text/whatever you're trying to share from the intent.

@@anapartyrock I upgraded from the 6 to the XS last week, and it was honestly a great decision. It was time for a new phone for me (my 6 was all kinds of fucked up), and the XS has been great. The thing to keep in mind when watching reviews like these, is the reviewers are always constantly using the newest phones. They'll use the new iPhone for a couple of weeks, then the new Samsung for a couple of weeks, and they keep switching. As someone that had the 6 for three or four years, the XS has been well worth the upgrade.

I dont usually do comments on video but I completely agree with you Linus. Me myself being an apple fan, I found myself trying very hard to find an excuse to go back to Apple. Apple was ahead in everything when Jobs was here, he wanted everything to be perfect. the iOS stability was light years ahead of andriod, theyre always the one annoucing new technologies. Now? iOS being a more stable software, Andriod phones has already passed iPhones performance by using better hardware, when Apple decided to toss away their advantage to the point that they are now behind!! Wireless charging was announced for years on Andriods and Apple announced on iPhone 8, claiming its a NEW feature. Fast charge is still not included in box when a $300 phone would come with it. Not to mention their own wireless charger when Razer can annouce it together with their new Razer Phone 2.
From being a leader of the industry to now a follower as you said, and theyre not even doing a good job following. AND they decided to charge more than everyone else for outdated techs.

I loved my iPhone and to see Apple continously going down and still think they can charge more because of their fan base, makes me very disappointed. It's okay to criticize mate because you want them to innovate better experience. But at this point, they won't listen.
Android manufacters using better Hardware is simply not true. The iPhone Xs is assembled out of pretty much the best Hardware you can get right now. Its true though that apples innovations in the phone department have increasingly slowed down since the iphone 4. But i guess that its rather the industry itself that has settled and focuses more on incremental updates. Weve just come to a point where its really hard to innovate. We have 7nm chips in iPhones while desktops are still stuck with 14nm, we have high ppi oled screens with great color reproduction, we fold those screens so there is no chins at the bottom, we have things like great speakers, great haptic feedback etc. Really hard to make revolutionary improvement on those. Thats why apple has focused its big innovations on the apple watch because theres still a lot of innovation to be seen in the smart watch department.
Might be true, but the iPhone XS Max has only 4 GB of RAM, for today's standards that is low. On some Android smartphones you can get 16GB of RAM.

Opening: they made the phone that even they couldn't care about. It risks nothing.
Almost immediately after opening the box I began missing my note 9. Bigger screen, more subtle rounding of the corners, and oooh... Right...
When I slid out the SIM tray, no expandable storage.
I talked about this in my note 9 review. The remarkable thing about that phone is the zero compromises nature of it sbug, and it's expensive,
but other than a lackluster commitment to software support - something Samsung needs to fix - it gives up nothing.
By contrast, I haven't even installed my first app and I'm pulling the stupid headphone dongle out of the box.. And staring at what now looks like a MASSIVE notch in late 2018.
The iPhone 6 design was maintained for four generations and didn't look dated until the 3rd or 4th when Samsung launched the S8 and S8 plus. That's how far ahead apple was. The iPhone xs already looks like an old phone due to. How fast display technology is moving right now.
The other alarming thing staying here is that Samsung is not only failing to lead in terms of design friends, they are becoming a follower and a slow one at that when it comes to industry trends.
- first, Apple failed to lead on the trend of having two different sizes for each flagship generation, then they manage to miss participating in the large phablet sized category for an entire generation of product. With all of the resources and employees they have it there disposal it really raises the question what were they doing for an entire year. I mean obviously the software team has been busu but have the hardware guys basically just been trying to figure out how to cost down the iPhone 10?
Why are there extra stupid hoops to jump through to use my Google accounts for stuff? I had to enter my full email, password and authentication key 4 fucking times on a phone I was restoring via icloud - Twitch when prompted by notification spam sending me to the settings menu, again when I opened the Gmail app, and a 4th time when I installed this new(?) Google authentication app that for some reason had a picture of my model of yubikey for the security key option but it doesn't seem to work with mine..
Looks like part of my frustration was not knowing lastpass finally supports auto-filling apps with ios 12! Yay! Also the yubikey worked fine for that.
Turns out I still hate the lack of back button... gesture DOES work in most cases but it requires a really clear swipe from the edge, which is really hard to reach on such a big phone.

Why is apple letting other innovate on Face ID and do it better. The aoppo Rind X lets u swipe anywhere on the screen rather than at the bottom to activate its Face ID. Apple doesn't allow this and its touch ergonomically to hold such a heavy phone at the bottom

Can't just pick and choose certain elements of one android phone and another and be like "android is superior" when there's no single device that brings it all together the way apple does - at least that's what used to be true. Camera processing is not reliable. Basically just don't trust AI image processing. Pictures from sept 26 have some goog examples. Would be nice if it grabbed an unaltered shot for safety....

General camera stuff - it's kind of stupid to expect that every power user will use a 3rd party app. I get the included one is supposed to be one touch dead simple any idiot can do it.. but these kinds of heavy processing techniques have long been included on competitors devices with major ones like Samsung even enabling them by default- but they are much more transparent and allow much of the processing to be disabled.

The problem is a philosophical one. Apple has traditionally taken the position that they know what their users want/better than their users. - my expectation from apples camera is less gimmicky nonsense and superior simplicity and colour science. Now there are so many modes they don't all fit on the screen anymore including incredibly unnecessary square and they're processing 4 teeth out of 2... why? Who is asking for this? Car ply fucking wrecks android auto. Clock shows when playing music in g play music, when you're the passenger it doesn't harass you and lock your phone all the time, the navigation is so much morenjntutitive and with giant buttons (like for music navigation) and it just does more.

- also it's pretty goddamn annoying that if you open maps on the dashboard it takes over your phone screen. The passenger car play user scenario hasn't been as carefully considered as I thought.

Nonetheless Snapchat's Android app has been updated to use the phone's own exposure and focus now, so picture quality looks pretty stellar now. Only thing is low light videos can get choppy to compensate for the higher exposure. Other than that Snapchat runs nearly identical on my LG V35 and iPhone X

Another question, can you fit your PC inside your pocket? And by the way, the fastest phone on the market is a $750 phone called iPhone XR and the Note 9 which is $1000 can't run a cartoon game it advertised with it (Fortnite).. Samsung is falsely advertising and people still buy it.

Apple knew that the Xs wouldn’t look any different so they knew they would need to give people a reason to upgrade from the x, and this is where the XS Max comes in.
Listen. The point of apple making a new phone every year isn’t so you upgrade every year but rather you upgrade every 2-4 years. That is why these phone don’t changing majorly every year but rather slowly improving so when it’s time to upgrade you have a major improvement

I literally use SQUARE PHOTO all of the time. Vertical photos look bad and twisting my iPhone is annoying. Squares are consistently aesthetically pleasing and easier to frame a good shot especially if you have GRID turned on.

because rolling back in version control is even harder for common users, most of the times people tends to make mistakes and don't know where to restart, making changes "unsave" as default will leave the decision to the user. Because he basically lied in the video. There’s a DONE option in the top left corner of the screenshot window. It allows you to save or discard the picture. You don’t need to exit out of anything
You only have to confirm if you’ve opened the edit menu. If you’re fine with saving the screenshot as-is, just swipe it away or leave it alone and it’ll go away by itself.
Tanner Tousey when you take a screenshot on an iOS device, you are taken to the screenshot window where you can edit and mark up the photo right away. Once you’re DONE, you press the DONE button. If you don’t want to do anything with it, you press the same button and save/discard the picture. How is this difficult to comprehend? 🤷🏼♂️

Edit: as has been pointed out to me. You can buy OS X. However OS X cannot be installed (legally) on devices that did not already have OS X on it. This is because OS 9 devices (being PowerPC) are not compatible with OS X (x86-64), and because Apple expressly forbids installation on non Apple devices.
