Basically, my argument is "this would make a material difference to relatively few people's use cases", not "there aren't windows users who have iPhones". Remember - Airdrop works by essentially using Bluetooth to provision a small LAN network between the two devices, so between modern apple devices, you'll see quite excellent speed.
Last year the difference between the iPhone 12 and the Pro was pretty small, and the best bang for your buck definitely meant the standard 12. This year though you get 120Hz, better battery life and a significantly souped up version of the SOC. Easily worth the extra $200.
13 pro and 13 have same max brightness in HDR content at 1200 nits, the typical brightness/max you manually brighten your screen is higher on 13 pro at 1000 nits vs 800 nits
Apple does accidental touch prevention perfectly on the MacBooks. They probably can not shrink the bezel and keep an even bezel thickness all around the device.
You can do that with some clever software sensitivity calculations. Even Samsungs when they still had the curved screen got it pretty good eventually. The bezel isn't really great in that department. It gives a better support to the screen tho because there is a rubber layer in that bezel which means it is slighty more protected from breaking.
Having the LiDAR Scanner is AWESOME and very important to me (so wish my note 20 had it) b/c when designing rooms for remodeling or other work; being able to SCAN the room (or “thing”) and import directly into program to edit etc…EXTREMELY USEFUL beyond belief! It’s so cool and a MUST for particular business ppl, imo.
It's a fun little toy for sure, but considering it any good for a business is such an over exaggeration, I work in 3D modelling and I got a chance to try lidar out on my dad's phone, but the 3D models it produced are pretty inaccurate for any sort of business work, and especially problematic when transferred to a PC since the model is a 0 thickness one, causing some problems in some particular softwares _Ahem Yes I'm looking at you, meshmixer COUGH_ also not to mention the horrible issues it has with white or black objects, or just light reflecting off of a polished piece of wood. Good for urgent quick scanning, like if you want to show a person something in 3D, which happens quite often actually, atleast for me.

Okay, I’m gonna suggest something here and hope you guys do this for all future vids. When doing comparisons etc…. KEEPING THE SAME “DEVICE” AND INFO on the same side of the screen, is EXTREMELY helpful and useful. When you jump back n forth from having device & info on right in one shot (along with the other comparison on left) and then in next shot for comparing another feature and it’s reversed….. It’s a tad bit confusing as the continuity of the video is interrupted b/c we “expect” everything to be left for iphone 13 pro and right for iPhone 13 throughout entire video (or vice versa); but when you keep bouncing and swapping the devices placement in the video…..not very fluid (imo), and hope this gets improved on future videos. Like when watching a movie and in one scene a person starts to eat and they have half a “steak” left and then another person talks and the camera flips to them and back to main; and all of a sudden, the steak and plate of food is 100% FULL & starts eating again…..not very fluid and noticeable. More so when comparing devices and looking at stats and are like, what, why iPhone 13 pro battery less then iPhone 13; oh, duh me….read top, it’s now iPhone 13 pro on left and iPhone 13 pro on right. Same with pricing, 13 pro right 13 left and next scene the pro on left and 13 on right when talking about display brightness. So, point is, after that novel, keeping the info and devices a fluid (continuity) throughout video helps ppl watching , imo, and makes the UE, etc….SMOOTH as water, like the LTT WATER BOTTLE; LTTStore.com Still enjoyed the vid, and hearing Linus’s “take” in the new iPhone (point of vid😉). @@malcewicz why under the display? You can see the mark where the fingerprint sensor is _(on phones that have them),_ and I don’t like that. That’s, of course, only my opinion. I’d rather have it on the power button or the Apple logo. Whatever fits best
@@malcewicz it would be cheaper to put a fingerprint scanner like the ones on the new ipad than to develop an entirely new under display fingerprint sensor since apple probably wouldn't want to use the ones from qualcomm. @@mr.sunmeadow I've been using a phone with an under-display fingerprint scaner for over 2 years now and i can tell you that it's not visible at all. I think having it under the display is the most comfortable, because if you have something like always on display or the double tap feature you don't even need to reach for the power button and when the phone is laying down on e.g. a table it's easier to hold your finger on the screen instead of the side
@@morepanicboy7120 do you really think that Apple, with their phones costing $800 to $1300, would care if the production cost of a solution would be $5 or $10? Engineering and putting speakers just as powerful into a much more compact device costs more money, and the iPhone has great mics and 'webcam' as well so the BoM cost of a flagship phone and a laptop that's half the price are COMPLETELY different.
@@utubekullanicisi I understand that but I was just hinting at the fact that in a luxury product (like the IPhone 13pro) everything is expected to perform incredibly well, but in a budget laptop costs are cut everywhere it’s possible to get the price down, does worse speakers materials and more, are expected to be worse

Was the scanner on the 12 pro not to the level you would need? I ask because I see a comment seemingly about similar use case in this thread lauding the LiDAR on the 12 Pro, yeah, any way, just curious. I have a 12 Pro that I bought for the cameras and the auto focus in low light is assisted by the LiDAR (or so I’ve been lead to believe), dabbled with a room scanning app. Curious to pick the brain of someone that puts the tool to use in a professional way.

Which concernes me for my use case (sometimes i have to measure very big rooms or hallways for example). If the 13 pro only has very marginal improvements in these areas, I would probably buy the Iphone 12 pro (second hand) or the Ipad pro (second hand). Didn’t even mention the insane battery life on the MAx. Epic. On the macro shots you should do a full review
It’s an unboxing /first impressions video lmao
For anyone wondering, the game Linus was playing in the video is called "Hyper Light Drifter" available on iOS, PC and consoles.
It's actually written in the video, even though he didn't say it.
Hot take: The bezels on the new iPhone are a good thing. They prevent accidental screen taps.
Hot, but good take
but.. you can prevent that with or without bezels
Apple does accidental touch prevention perfectly on the MacBooks. They probably can not shrink the bezel and keep an even bezel thickness all around the device.
@@alopxs Not quite.
You can do that with some clever software sensitivity calculations. Even Samsungs when they still had the curved screen got it pretty good eventually. The bezel isn't really great in that department. It gives a better support to the screen tho because there is a rubber layer in that bezel which means it is slighty more protected from breaking.
No point having a tiny bezel when you try and hold the phone with one hand.
Also having the screen right to the edge makes it more prone to damage.
I use the lidar sensor all the time when I use the measure app, it’s honestly very accurate
that fold has a big ass crease already

What is wrong with face ID?
So, point is, after that novel, keeping the info and devices a fluid (continuity) throughout video helps ppl watching , imo, and makes the UE, etc….SMOOTH as water, like the LTT WATER BOTTLE; LTTStore.com
Still enjoyed the vid, and hearing Linus’s “take” in the new iPhone (point of vid😉).

Honestly, they should bring back TouchID on the power button. They’ve already done it on the new iPads, and the 12 and 13 are the perfect form factor for a touch sensor on the side.
Yeah ok, but why not just under the display?
@@malcewicz why under the display? You can see the mark where the fingerprint sensor is _(on phones that have them),_ and I don’t like that. That’s, of course, only my opinion. I’d rather have it on the power button or the Apple logo. Whatever fits best
@@malcewicz it would be cheaper to put a fingerprint scanner like the ones on the new ipad than to develop an entirely new under display fingerprint sensor since apple probably wouldn't want to use the ones from qualcomm.
And second, apple likes to differentiate their products from the other company's product. Since side mounted fingerprint scanner isn't popular on android phone nowadays, they'll look unique for having it on an iphone. Although sony experia has that type of fingerprint since like 5 years ago.
They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to implement a feature on MacBooks that allows them to work only if they're in the same case aa they were shipped in, why would they waste that much money on a feature like that, but go the absolute budget way with an already cheap part in a phone?
9:20 "I've heard laptops with worse speakers than this phone"
Me: I've seen laptops for half the price
Engineering and putting speakers just as powerful into a much more compact device costs more money, and the iPhone has great mics and 'webcam' as well so the BoM cost of a flagship phone and a laptop that's half the price are COMPLETELY different.

@@utubekullanicisi I understand that but I was just hinting at the fact that in a luxury product (like the IPhone 13pro) everything is expected to perform incredibly well, but in a budget laptop costs are cut everywhere it’s possible to get the price down, does worse speakers materials and more, are expected to be worse

This is me just being curious not trying to ‘gotcha’ comment or anything, you currently don’t have a phone with a LiDAR Scanner, yet you are wondering if the LiDAR from the 12 Pro has been improved on the 13 pro.

The iPad was the first digital drawing tool I used that I could treat like a sketchbook and seamlessly transition from pen and paper, which I love but was inefficient at the end of the day. What is it you do exactly? Excuse my ignorance!
@@crum111 Hi Gordon, I actually made a real long answer which youtube didn't save for some reason apperently, hence the "also". Short version: i have no experience with LiDAR at all, but I am very interested. The Iphone 12 pro seems to have rather low resolution (precision suffers i would think?) and 'only' 5 meters range. Which concernes me for my use case (sometimes i have to measure very big rooms or hallways for example). If the 13 pro only has very marginal improvements in these areas, I would probably buy the Iphone 12 pro (second hand) or the Ipad pro (second hand). Does it really matter? He still talks about their devices. Someone is either buying it for Linus, or he's buying it himself. So Apple is not losing anything. It would be different if he were to boycott Apple because they boycott him.
@@KentSpain85 they don't lose anything, just couple of phones for suck ass reviewers
To be fair, he is kind of biased against apple products just to please his viewers of apple hating bandwagon
@@raghuveer4552 LMG does not have an Android or Microsoft channel, but they do have an Apple only channel (while still covering Apple on their main channel). I'd say that speaks to their "bias" "against" Apple. There's a difference between being against a brand and holding them up to some kind of standards.
Would love to see a full review on LTT
But how does it perform the primary function of a phone? To make and receive phone calls particularly in areas of less than perfect reception?
This is something I'm missing from every review of any phone. I've bought phones in the past because of excellent reviews but then the reception is horrible and the mic is awful so people can't hear me talking... I have a 12 Pro, and it has great reception and the mic arrays on apple products is really excellent. Airpods pros didn't work for me because they essentially tried to remove my voice when talking (I have a pretty bassy voice I guess which the pros cancelled out)
@@85Portar there’s a setting for that dig into it a bit. They have a feature that makes only your voice sound and removed background noise with ai. Sometimes it doesn’t work properly however try switching it off
@@tim3172 some phones from certain Korean companies started to explode like 4 years ago
@@tim3172 how come if that is the case, my wife and I with our Samsungs can sit in our living room and make phone calls, yet our daughter and her partner with their iPhones have to go out into the street to make and receive calls?
In a 21st Jun 2021 article by Alex Baker on the Wilson Amplifiers web site ( A company that specialises in home cell phone signal boosters) he states "Due to Qualcomm’s LTE-Advanced technology, and Apple’s hesitancy to roll out new technology the second it becomes available, Android phones are continually pulling ahead in the reception race." So I'd say it is still a serious question.
Not for me because: no type c, has notch, no native flash drive support, can't fully access storage by connecting to computer, built in file browser do not have full access, changing default apps not fully supported, sending images in email sometimes sends attachments and sometimes puts into body of email, no fingerprint reader, have to go into settings just to switch Wi-Fi, no expandable storage, no iOS version of Parsec. And probably more.
People keep saying the iPhone 13 is limited to 20W charging. Nope. Max Tech showed you can benefit from using 30W chargers.
