  • Shows how to remove the radio from a 1997 Toyota Tacoma. This dashboard radio removal requires little disassembly and is pretty easy. You need a small flathead screwdriver and a standard Phillips screwdriver. We replaced our Tacoma radio in favor of a Bluetooth-enabled model to tether to a smartphone. Hope this helps someone.

Who knew I would need video but sure enough, I couldn't figure out how to get the radio out of my 96 Tacoma. Huge thanks for posting this video years ago. It's still helping people.

Thank you. Helped a lot on 95 Tacoma. Note, there are actually two screws to take out when removing the bevel. The angled screw on the left was missing in video. Thanks for video.

do you know of a video or anything else that shows how to replace the a/c & heat unit above the radio? The fan just went out on my 1996 Tacoma. The fan nob is free floating (not secured to anything) I'm guessing a wire came loose or something like that.
    Thanks,
    Brian

It's critical that only three screws be used on a double DIN enclosure when installing after-market equipment. Using four or more violates the vehicle Terms of Service that you clicked on the first time you used the car. Contact your new car dealer for expensive details.

I was clicking accept on touch screens left and right back in the 90's when these tacomas were made...

agreed. space time will be disrupted as well. I think there is a Futurama episode about that too

is there enough space for an in dash amplifier ?

NRXTM I think so. The area below the radio is just a plastic insert. Taking that out would leave space.
