I'm a feature movie mixer, and honestly, that's the best plugin that I could wait for. I've been using it for 2 months on my dialogue masters, and I save a lot of time to work on more creative/narrative aspects then. Thanks a lot Warren for your review !
I waited and waited for a sale and couldn't wait anymore. I have spent a lot of time sweeping for resonant frequencies in acoustic guitar and vocals and notching them, but you end up just killing it in the end. lol. These dynamic eq's that intelligently know what to do on the fly just blow my mind and sound incredible. Only dipping when needed addresses an issue when needed but not squashing it 100% of the time?? Vocals never sounded so good.
Soloing a vocal while testing or inserting a plugin is absolutely a requirement for the human voice/vocal is the absolute most organic instrument in a mix. So the solo/mix step is important, glad you pointed out that solo is important for vocal, right on!
it's funny, because i just recently demoed this plugin while recording the vocals for my upcoming ep. i was amazed, it gave me instant clarity while keeping things natural and helped me get a much more appealing sound out of my nt1-a. i feel like this is a plugin that really can make a difference, especially for homestudio recordings! who knows, maybe i win a copy of it in the giveaway, that would really be great. thank you warren, i've been following you for a while now and the videos you make bring a ton of value. i really appreciate your effort :) stay safe! cheers from germany
Welcome to the Soothe club!! :-D Been using it since V1. I have used it on Double Bass and it was great. I have also used it (sparingly) on electric guitar groups and brass. I just upgraded to V2 and its even better (it now goes lower and uses less CPU plus more controls) Kudos to Oeksound for building this great plugin.
Soothe is one of the best plugins that's ever been created IMO! Right up there with IZOTOPE and Neural DSP! SO easy to use too! Thanks for all the videos you make, brother ! I've watched many hours and learned so much from you and the many amazingly talented guests you have on :)
i tried the demo a couple of weeks ago and was able to smoothe the highs on my cheap mic vocal recordings. This was the main problem on my recordings, and i spent hours with correctional eqing. With smoothe it was only a couple of minutes and with a better result. Unfortunately i cant afford it at the moment so i entered the giveaway, fingers crossed ;) As always great content on this channel, thanx-a-lot !
Tried the upgrade on strings when v2 came out, and the difference between v1 and v2 was ridiculous (and of course Soothe 1 was already magical, so the fact that they managed to improve it at all was surprising, let alone that much). Incredible plugin, well worth the money.
just registered! was actually looking at this plugin 2 weeks ago but the Australian dollar is just so low for me to buy it at the moment so hopefully there's a win! awesome video as always Warren!
An absolute game changer plugin! Been using it a little over a year now. A must have for the arsenal. One of my go to plugins for harsh cymbals, guitars and vocals
Fantastic demo Warren. Really appreciate the fact that you use it on many different sources, and also gives us a glimpse of what’s going on with the CPU. Great vid👍🏻
The per band Solo Listen function is magical. I use it literally on anything sometimes. Drums, Voices, Bass with attack portion, snares, claps, harsh synths you name it. This and Spiff are two of the best plugins ever made
Warren !!! : ) Try the "delta" Button on the PlugIn Gui and you will only hear what Soothe is actually taking out of the audio material. Switching to delta[ when needed] makes it also easier to find/target the area you'd like to 'soothe'
I‘ve actually watched Eric using that plugin on the (outstandingly awesome) song „Release“ by his fiancée Grace Potter. And I was really impressed how good this actually works. Great demo here, Warren.

I bought Soothe last year based on Eric Valentine's use and rave review of it. I bought Sooth2 because I got it at a discount being an existing Soothe owner! I use Soothe (and Soothe2) on vocals like you did. I also like to use it on drum overheads to control harsh cymbals. It works very well for that as well.
I can't believe what this does!!! I just saw this video today, came home got the free trial!! This is really amazing! After the trial I am definitely going to purchase it, thanks Warren for all the time you put into these videos!! I do intend on joining the academy in the future, I just have so much to get done and don't have a lot of time right now.
I had a singer come record and she had a great voice but she also had a slight harshness in the high mids and highs that I had trouble EQing out. This would be so helpful with that.
Recently I got a vocal track poorly recorded in an untreated room from my client. It sounded roomy, boxy, harsh and extremely thin. My friend told me to give a trial on soothe2. It is a real no-brainer - set and done! With this plugin, you can easily identify problematic frequencies, and they will help tame them down very effectively. I used to spend hours to find those frequencies and get them removed, and it does not always sounded great at all. But soothe2 is a real game changer as it turned my poorly recorded vocals to be a polished one. After removal of all those bad frequencies, the vocal could easily take up any saturation/EQ/compressor which made it sound bigger, and sit on top of the mix well. It is obviously NOT an ad and I do pay $219 to buy this plugin. You won't fuck this up as it is easy to use. Warren did a great job to demonstrate how you can use on your vocal. Do give a trial and you will be impressed.
Bought it while watching the EV interview. Obviously magic on vocals. I love it on my overheads in my small room. Let’s me control some of the high energy build up in the cymbals.
Exit 151 Studios - we have been using first Soothe 1 and then Soothe 2 for 6 months. My thoughts: 1) amazing on harsh hi-hat in drum overheads, master bus tweaking, and acoustic guitars; less impressed on vocals vs DS/EQ traditional methods 2)even in 32GB 12-core mac system, it can hit cpu especially with over sampling faster than it seems in this video; 3) love the top end eq boost after the plugin - on the money!; 4)sounds good right away (wow factor) on the default but really need to not push it too hard - sounding too good can be bad (unnatural). Overall very very good and is now in the workflow for both corrective issues and sound shaping. PS -- Nice video!!!

I use Soothe one every mix. I love it on fiddle. I also like using Soothe followed by Gullfoss in my mastering chain. Gotta be light handed but i like it..
by choosing the 'delta' feature located at the bottom of the narrow column next to the main controls you hear what soothe is removing which like all of Mr. Huart's videos is 'marvellously' helpful . . .
I agree this is a very good plug in and does exactly what is say's it does. It would be nice if Oeksound could do anything with the price during this incredibly difficult time in human history.
Great PI. Leaves the vocal still sounding good while cutting the frequencies. After soothing maybe you could add some harmonics if the vocal is still a bit dull. It's another winner
Great video, as always! One thing I'd be curious to hear you play with this on, is electric guitar! I was kind of surprised you didn't try it on that, as I feel like it would really help pull some of those aggressive resonances that happen with drive quickly (Again, without squashing dynamics)
Yep, I was backtracking some of your older videos when I came across the Erick Valentine stuff. Long story short, I snagged it during the recent sale which I believe ends today. Listening to how the plug sounds, I have a feeling it boosts the resonant frequencies then flip it 180 degrees and dumps it back on top. So cuts are made via phase cancellation.
I've watched so many Rewievs. Often very boring songs and sounds are used, but this one sounds great! She has a great voice!! Is the song online somewhere? The Plugin is also amazing!
Wow, it's kind of like the Melda MSpectralDynamics plugin. Looks a ton easier to use too. I used to use that all the time on things like guitar solos where the guitarist would pull a high note and some harmonics would resonate so harshly.
The original version was already my favorite plugin to put first the vocal chain more often than not. I just got version 2 but haven't had a chance to put it on anything yet. I'm thinking I'm really going to like it on acoustic guitar, though.
Thanks Warren! Be interesting to test that sibilant reduction then adding analog silk same for the low mids once under control. I can see this being used fo Piano emulators reverb aux keeping any overtones from dominating the verb. Added that plug to my wishlist :)
That plug-in may actually be one of these magic bullets that everyone is always looking for. Awesome! And you had definitely had fun using it. I'm very curious! But what is a wolf note?
I bought Soothe after watching your Eric Valentine interview and love it! Thanks Warren! Also, what cables are you using in your studio/ or what do you recommend for mic to pre and connecting outboard gear?
Owned the original version of this plugin, loved it then and even more with the update. Use it a lot on vocals (first in the chain) and electric guitar, and on the end of reverb and delay sends. Also being able to change the oversampling whether in realtime and in an offline bounce is amazing.Their Spiff transient designer plugin is really good too.

(i actually didn't watch the whole video because i own the plugin and know what it's doing… don't know if i missed a part where you mentioned that ;-)).
Is it strange that I feel more like unplugging than plugging these days Warren? Maybe it's time for an acoustic garden party! Cheers to ANOTHER day in the studio 👍😜✌️
I preferred the sound of the vocal with the plug in set to bypass, to be honest, the plug in made it sound like the mic was wrapped in cotton wool when the vocal was recorded.
This plugin does wonders to my mixes on the mix bus and also to some of the annoying frequencies in the bus tracks... its quite CPU heavy so that is one thing I do not like about it but over all its a solid plugin.. worth the investment
Not like the old days when multiple instances of a 3rd party plugin crashed your session, lol. Im guessing the hd cards help a little tho(assuming of course, could be totally wrong). Hopefully the same situation works just as well in a native system.
Dear Warren, hope you doing marvellously well! =) thank you so much for the video. Indeed its a great great life saver plug in. I am wanting to enter the draw to win Soothe 2 =) However I dont have any other social media accounts other than Facebook. May I still join ? Many thanks
lol When was the last time that acoustic around 17:00 was set up!? 😝😂 That was a particularly impressive use of this plugin, tho! And this might be boring or unnecessary to a lot of people, but checking the CPU usage is actually something I wish more plugin demos included! 😳👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks always, Warren!
Sorry this is not about the video but I don’t know where else to ask. Can you please do a video on how to send a pro tools session to another friend for them to do a track and send it back?!
probably have to send the whole project folder if you ask me but thats just an idea... so that it contains all the recorded stuff and the project itself so that when he opens he has all the audio and the project that knows how to place everything in order you put it in. Probably have to have same daw? thats what im currently working on as well but i have a slow responsive friend of a bass player so i dont know yet if it works xD... not really 100% sure but its an idea ;)
How would you say it compares to applying say a Waves F6 Dynamic EQ?, looks to provide similar processing options? I;d be keen to see a side by side comparison of the same track to hear the differences, do they have a trial version?
This sounds fantastic. Do you think it can be used to remove some unwanted proximity effect? I record at home with a Sm7b and to avoid room resonance I sing very close to the mic, possibly this plug in might make it sound more open?
How would you use Soothe2 in your mixes?
Produce Like A Pro for the ever present boxy bedroom build up in vocals.
I’ve demo’d it. Amazing deesser, but I found it useful for correcting acoustics like @buddy
Loving the increased amount of posts 📈🔥

Is it strange that I feel more like unplugging than plugging these days Warren? Maybe it's time for an acoustic garden party! Cheers to ANOTHER day in the studio 👍😜✌️
Haha I hear you!!
I preferred the sound of the vocal with the plug in set to bypass, to be honest, the plug in made it sound like the mic was wrapped in cotton wool when the vocal was recorded.
Interesting that you added high end EQ after, I would have used an enhancer to try and minimise the cotton wool effect.
That acoustic guitar doesn't need a plug in to save the sound it needs a set up by a guitar tech!
I agree with u...I thought I was d only one DAT noticed
@john Mathews u are absolutely correct....I agree with u
thank you for the video! seems to be a good problem solution for voice over!
Marvelous.. very impressive plugin!
I just get it yesterday, I fell in love
Great review and useful Demo Warren, thank you!!! What are your thoughts on using this on voiceover or long form narration like audiobooks?
Many thanks
Hi Pure Sonic as long as you have entered your email address you have been entered to win! Many thanks Warren
Another video of joy.
lol When was the last time that acoustic around 17:00 was set up!? 😝😂 That was a particularly impressive use of this plugin, tho! And this might be boring or unnecessary to a lot of people, but checking the CPU usage is actually something I wish more plugin demos included! 😳👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks always, Warren!
Great expert in mixing! 👍🏻👏🏻
It adds some artifacts as well...
What kind of artifacts?
Im addicted to it already, but i just with it wasnt so expensive. I missed the sale lol.
Had this plugin when 2 came out best plugin this year
Sorry this is not about the video but I don’t know where else to ask.
Thank you, thank you so much...would sooth 2 also work for classical vocal recordings like Lied and or Opera?
Wow the next evulation in to the future has started. primarily for vocals. so I would use it
bought it 2,wow so good 🎉🎉
Fantastic!
This sounds fantastic. Do you think it can be used to remove some unwanted proximity effect? I record at home with a Sm7b and to avoid room resonance I sing very close to the mic, possibly this plug in might make it sound more open?
